A lovely family restaurant with the kindest family. Coming here in late October, it's a little less…read morebusy so we were able to slip in for dinner around 8pm without issue. We started with the family lemonade which was so refreshing and had lots of fresh citrus in it. We felt like we were at a family dinner here with how welcoming it was. We got the Sevilla style squid which was ok, the piri piri helped add flavor. The prawns were plump and flavorful in a nice sauce that we used our garlic bread to sop up the flavors. The sea bream was such a nice and light flavor. Crisp on the outside but soft and meaty inside with fries nicely seasoned and cooked. It's off the beaten path a bit on a side street but still central to town.

We did not have the chance to dine because we were literally yelled at by the door…read more The restaurant was opened as per yelp. The was also opened but ajar. We entered. It was empty so we politely asked if the restaurant was opened and the guy who was sitting on the table (the owner or manager) rudely told us NO NO NO and waved us away. Okay.... just close the doors and update your hours for God's sake. Go learn basic customer service skills. You absolutely need it. Sincerely, A customer all the way from California USA

The waiter knew we needed to leave but was determined to reset other tables. Then to top it off he added a gratuity for himself, underhanded and sneaky. I would stay clear.

You may be standing at the intersection and wondering where the restaurant is, and then look over the rails and see the sign. Somehow there seems to be a cluster of seafood restaurants in that space, but some of them are empty, with eager smiling ladies inviting you to go inside. Dona Barca not only has a bustling full house, they apparently took over more space across the alley. Even without my friend's recommendation it's clear which restaurant to go to. They have a large cooler displaying what fishes are available. And they do know how to cook their fishes. The sole we ordered was done to perfection, the meat still moist and tender. We also ordered the seafood rice. Sadly, maybe due to inflation, there was way more rice than seafood, and the broth tastes of tomato rather than the ocean's bounty. Only one prawn, a crab claw, plus a small amount of tiny bites of clam, octopus and shrimp that I had to dig around in the rice to find.
