My check was supposed to arrive yesterday but due to the Labor Day holiday, the check run was understandably delayed. I was very happy to receive my first paycheck from my new job and went to my regular Ace Cash Express branch to cash it. My expectation was to cash my check and reactivate my old account or create a new Netspend Elite account so I could enroll in automatic deposit. It should have been a simple win/win. I presented my printed check from AT&T and my ID to Porsha at store #2109. (The spelling of her name is correct). She asked me for the last four of my social and the last four of my phone number. In 10+ years, I have never been asked for the last four of my phone number for account verification. That was odd but not a problem because my information in your system is current. Then she examined my printed check from AT&T. I had folded the check and put it in my wallet for the three blocks I had to walk to my regular branch of Ace Cash Express. She smoothed it out and without discussing the issue, she picked up the phone. It's my first check from my new job and I opened it with excitement. The left edge was ragged because AT&T folds their checks very strangely. No information was lost, the check was just ragged on the left edge because I tore it open with relish. Porsha called someone and I heard her say, "The check is ragged on the left. No. No information is lost." She hung up the phone and I thought her suspicions were resolved. I was wrong. She then had me thumbprint the check which, again, is not a problem because I am an honest and real paying customer. Maybe now, she'll cash my check... Nope. Porsha at store #2109 decided she would call around to other Ace Cash Express stores to see if they had recently cashed a payroll check from AT&T. Oddly enough, since everyone in my training class had the same delayed paycheck due to the Labor Day holiday, someone else had cashed an AT&T check at ACE Cash Express earlier. A verbal confirmation wasn't good enough for Porsha. She told me I had to wait some more until she received a fax of the other AT&T check so she could compare my payroll check with my co-workers payroll check. Honestly, what the fuck is up with that? I'm looking at my receipt and it says I've been a reward member since 2005. I was cashing my checks with your company before you instituted a reward system. I have been paying your fees for 10+ years. So Porsha finally got the fax from the branch who cashed the AT&T check for my co-worker. Amazingly, they matched! After 40 minutes, I finally got my check cashed. IT WAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER. So, needless to say, I won't do business with your company ever again. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ACE CASH EXPRESS. I used to work for Ford Motor Company and in the marketing department it was a given that one bad customer experience meant you lost ten potential customers. I'm posting this on Facebook, I'm emailing the Better Business Bureau and I'm posting this on Yelp. I will be very creative in publishing my experience and opinion of your company. Porsha at store #2109 treated me like a fraud and a criminal. I've been your customer for 10+ years. I was so excited about my first paycheck from my new job and Porsha treated me like dirt, actually worse than dirt, she treated me like criminal dirt. I have been your customer for 10+ years and it took me 40 minutes to cash my check because Porsha is very, very poor at making appropriate decisions. I'll see you on Facebook.
