This was our first service from DirectHeat.ca. & when I called, I asked if they serviced Trane & they said yes they did. We have a Trane furnace & air cleaner unit, & the air cleaner power light would not come on. They were to come out to Hope from Chwk tomorrow, but called this morning to say they were out this way & could they come today; we said sure. An hour later 2 young fellows showed up & one of them had apparently worked on a Trane furnace once, the other had no knowledge of Trane products. They vacuumed out the furnace but when it came to the air cleaner, they had no clue, were calling someone & asking questions, & stumbling around. My husband had given them the manuals to use. Finally my husband asked "did you see in the manual about the fuse in the door, perhaps it is shot". They had obviously not read the manual & so they checked & sure enough there was a blown fuse, which they apparently changed. The service cost was $345.00 which we were advised about up front when we called. A couple of hours after they left, my husband went into the furnace room for a quick check, & the air cleaner unit was still not powered on, nor could he power it on. So we are in exactly the same position as we were before they came, minus $345.00. The 2 guys seemed so lost & inept that while they were here, my husband said he was worried that they would just create more issues than we already had with the power issue. Little did he know they'd leave & the unit was still dead. I have a voicemail in to them, we'll see what they say tomorrow. My husband doesn't want them on the premises again but we know we'll never get our service call money back so I feel they owe us a proper service. read more

We've purchased our furnace, AC and HW tank from Direct Heat. We are pleased with their knowledgeable technicians and their willingness to explain everything. Excellent communication, technicians are polite and respectful, and arrive when they say they will. Most importantly, they stand behind their products and their workmanship. We trust them and that is serious stuff for informed consumers that we try to be!!! read more

I paid $236 for the initial 20 minute diagnostic visit on my air conditioning system! The next bill was $325 for the follow-up visit where they mended the rips in the ducting with tape, and tested the system. I said I was not happy with that second bill, that I had been quoted $174 for the work. He made a phone call, then said "My bad", and that he didn't know the diagnostics had already been paid. He then reduced the bill to $184. I believe I was overcharged even at that. Always ask the cost before you invite them in!!!! read more

After 11 years of using you without a glitch I now pay $108.15 to have your guy tell me he can't re-freon the small portable window air-conditioner... ( as mentioned to your person who booked the appointment...). 1. You don't know which window AC units need freon and which don't so you have to send a guy over then charge me for the call ? Why didn't she ask and then tell me that one is not on the list ? (...She ASSUMED it was my home unit.) 2. you need to send a technician here to tell me there isn't a valve to re-charge it ? 3. You send someone from Abbotsford to Mission, ( which takes an hour ) and not the guy from mission ( 10 minutes ? ) 4. ( I buy gold and gems...)... If I come to you to buy a diamond from you and I tell you it is a Zircon then I can charge you $108.16 for doing nothing ? 5. service calls cost money ... i get it... but $108.16 is ridiculous 6. service call for my yearly maintenance will be from another company from now on.... read more

We have been clients of Direct Heat since we purchased our home in 2009. They were recommended to us by the previous home owners who had used them in the past, and they were recommended specifically for our hot water boiler, not too common in residential homes in our city. Over 6 years we used them 4 times and we were never satisfied with the performance of our heating system. After paying for servicing each time, we were told it was an older unit and it was performing normally. This was until we were woken by our Carbon Monoxide detector going off recently. We called in another company to investigate the issue, since the last service from Direct Heat was extremely unsatisfactory: The technician billed us for a full callout fee without checking the boiler as we asked - instead inspecting the new thermostat and insisting all was fine. The new heating company determined the heat exchange unit had never been cleaned. Not only were we extremely fortunate not to have the house burn down, as the unit was blocked and fanning flames out the safety door, we were very fortunate not to have suffered further from Carbon Monoxide exposure. Turns out, we have been exposed to this health risk for the years Direct Heat serviced our heating system and they failed to detect this safety concern. I find the last service call particularly aggravating. I bought a digital thermostat to better control the heat in the house, since our gas bill seemed so high. The furnace would not respond to different temperatures inputted for various times of the week and we called this company for a diagnosis. I was concerned the thermostat in the furnace wasn't working properly. Instead, the technician accused me of not knowing how a programmable thermostat worked and he insisted on billing me the call out fee, without looking at the furnace at all. So how was our furnace so dirty and clogged up if we had paid to have it cleaned so many times? The previous visits to our home by their trained technicians failed to detect the danger this unit presented to our family. Moreover, after hearing the explanation from a qualified technician from another company about how our hot water boiler system should be working, it became clear the explanations we previously received from Direct Heat were ignorant of how this unit actually worked. Vacuuming the bottom of the furnace was the sum total service and knowledge of all previous service calls from this company. Given the alarming state of our furnace, the complete ignorance of the technicians servicing the unit, and the rude manner of the sales calls and the danger they put us in, I would not recommend this company. They refused to refund our money for invoices not earned. Their receptionist however is pleasant. read more
