There have been some ups and downs over the years but I always stayed with you because your customer service eventually solved the problems...apart from the time that you had to relocate the dish and damaged the roof in the process.....I did not file a complaint at the time. Well, times have changed.....I was on the phone for 5 hours tonight with no resolution....I am not able to access my account, I have no idea what my passwords/codes are now with direct tv as they kept giving me new ones/or temporary ones, and I had to create a new email account which was ridiculous! I have been overpaying for years as I have been billed for having a dish and box which were removed about 5 years ago, and somehow I have been still able to get your service on my computer and cell. Your customer service people kept insisting that I had a dish and a box. When I told them I did not, they implied that I did not know what I was talking about. So.....the fact that I never changed my billing/charges is on me. But, after 5 hours on the phone tonight with no resolution, and the changes to passwords, emails, etc. and still cannot access Directv is beyond my limits. My patience has worn thin. I have had it! I regret the day I answered my door last summer. I switched from ATT Uverse to Direct TV. I've been told Uverse would no longer be available in the very near future, so figured might as well switch. The salesman never told me that this is strictly wifi connected (U-Verse was hard wired). Since day one- the connection goes out CONSTANTYL-(GRRR) its gotten a very little bit better since they sold me an extra booster box @ an additional $10 per month BUT- it STILL GOES OUT!- I keep calling- they don't come out, only want to "access my tv remotely"- I'm tired of calling- The remote control doesn't always work- My husband is up in years and is NOT Tech savy AT ALL!- He watches TV most of the day, and I'm not always home to try and fix it. We were supposedly saving 100 per month, but that's not really the case anymore either. If this keeps up, I will be switching again (what are my options??? Comcast?). Very frustrated! Greetings: Back in November or December of 2021, I negotiated a contract with DirecTV; this was for a renewal and I had done this for several years. I was a customer of DirecTV since 2014 and I have never been late on payments. Nonetheless, every year, I had to call to get the "best" deal for satellite TV. During this recent engagement, we, DirecTV and me, agreed that I would maintain the services that I had and my monthly cost would be $100 per month. However, when I received my bill in January of 2022, it was for $120. I didn't think much of it because I thought it was a renewal fee. In February 2022, my bill was $120. When I called DirecTV to inquire, I was informed that we had no contract. I corrected the call-taker that we did have a verbal contract for $100 per month and verbal contracts are valid in all 51 jurisdictions in the U.S. DirecTV was adamant that we had no contract. I pre-paid for services each month. I cancelled my subscription in March 2022, which took effect in April. DirecTV has informed me that I owe them payment for May 2022. When I called to inquire, the call-taker informed me that the terms of our "contract" indicates that I owe for May 2022. I informed the call-taker that we did not have a contract per DirecTV; therefore, no payment was due. Since DirecTV keeps hounding me for payment for May 2022, I have decided that DirecTV has violated our "contract" and have billed them for overcharging me from January - April 2022 at $20 per month ($100 total), plus the fee for violating the terms of our contract for $1000 per month ($5000), plus my time to address this matter: one day at $100 per hour ($800). I, therefore, am billing DirecTV (AT&T) a total of $5900. I have filed and will continue to file complaints with consumer protection. I will also continue to write negative Yelp! reviews about AT&T and DirecTV. I wish I could give less than a star. Bad service that goes out constantly. If there is even a sprinkle outside the service goes out. It is so bad! The internet speeds are very slow. If you try to get them to fix the service they want to charge you to come out and look at it. If you want credit for the bad service they fight you nail and tooth. Speaking of costs, their bad service is very expensive. Direct TV is absolutely horrible on every level. I don't care how good a deal they offer you....DONT DO IT!!! DO NOT EVER SIGN UP FOR Directv!! I cannot stress that enough. Unfortunately I can't give them zero stars. It is by far the worst company with whom I have had to deal. When I began the service, about 15 years ago, it was because they sold it to me over the company I had previously used, Comcast. I had never had a problem with Comcast. Directv promised many things, including cheaper service, and did not deliver. I have had poor service for years, and technicians have come out and could not figure out how to remedy the situations. Just one example is Genie Go, which was supposed to allow me to watch programs outside of my home. The technician who came to try to set it up said that he couldn't do it. For months, I have not been able to see my playlist. When I called, they told me that they have a technical issue with playlists, and it should be resolved in a month. That was in July. Each time I have called, they have told a different story of when it will be corrected. The representative offered to credit my account $5 for the inconvenience! They constantly charge incorrectly, and it takes hours on the phone to try to speak to someone. Last month I was overcharged by $30. When I called, I was on the phone, mainly on hold, for one hour and 33 minutes. I told the supervisor that I had been quoted a price because of bundling with AT&T and that the price would remain. She said that it was a promotion, and she's sorry that I was given wrong information. It keeps getting worse. Then she told me that my service began in 2015. It actually began in 2003, but they have no record of that. She said that in the records it states that my equipment was installed in 2015, which is a blatant lie. How can a company be so deceptive? I asked the supervisor, Sabrina, located in Arizona, to give me the name of her superior, and she said that she could not do that. Of course I would like to go with another company because Directv is deceptive and incompetent, but I have recorded many things on my DVR which I would like to keep. However, at this point, with such an inferior company in so many ways, I will rethink this. This has got to be the worst customer experience I've ever had!!! I ordered service on 10/22/2018. Since ordering I have had to call no less than 6 times for them to fix my phone #. "SIX TIMES"!!! Now I find out they put my email in wrong and am going to have to fix that. Anyway that's beside the point. Someone was to be here between nine and eleven this morning to install our services. AT&T + Directv make Comcast's customer service and high prices very appealing. I have to say, I'm pretty surprised by the bad reviews. I've had Direct TV since 2001 and have been super, super happy with the service. Since living in Chicago in 2005, I've only had one issue -which was an internal issue with some wiring from the basement, and I had nothing but punctual and professional service. The guy was so nice I even wrote his manager an email because he spent so much time trying to troubleshoot the problem -which wasn't their issue but just bad wiring in my condo building. The guy was good -he was passionate and so intent on addressing the root cause of initially what was a big mystery. Every time I've had to have an install, I find their operation courteous and professional. So, to each their own. I have no idea what happened with so many people and why they are so mad. Even my most recent time -the woman on the phone was so super nice. I had to cancel my acct so my husband could bring his acct over to my condo and she was so patient with this complicated transaction but everything went planned on install day and our package is now better than before and we can't be happier!! We finally have "on demand" now too and love it. This address is being used as a reference point so I'm talking about the service in general -make sure you call the normal 1-800 number for service. Maybe some of these people are going through after market type services like local places that are "authorized" dealers....I dunno. I'm really happy. Cancelled my service on the 3rd of the month and the representative told me that I would not receive another bill. That the last bill I paid was for the upcoming month. Well, guess what, I received a bill and when I called they said that the bill came out on the 28th, 3 days before I called, but I did not get my email bill until the 7th of the month. 1.  I received the email indicating that equipment had not been returned when in fact, it had been returned.  I have email proof and tracking proof. 2.  Once I found the correct tracking number (which was on a receipt that had the AT&T logo on it) the agent who I was talking to did not know what the tracking number meant. She called in her supervisor who also did not know what the tracking number meant. (because it had a letter in it)  3.  Once I figured out what the tracking number meant (a google search) and sent that information to AT&T they finally realized that the equipment had been returned.     When I asked why I got the email , I was told that everyone who cancels directv gets the email. Part of the email that I received: Unfortunately, we either did not receive your DIRECTV STREAM device(s) within the 14-day cancellation period or the device(s) you returned is damaged. In accordance with our policy, you will be charged: *   A non-return fee of $120 for the device(s) included in your service *   The remaining balance of $120.00 owed on your installment planThe total payment of {$120 + remaining balance} will  be charged to the payment method on your account on 04/27/2022. 4.  I was promised that my credit card account would not be charged.  It was. I cancelled my service 3/15/2022 and returned the equipment on 3/15/2022 and I have proof of both. I got the email from directv on April 26. read more

Stay very far away from Directv! You have way better options with streaming services that offer better support and services. Please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for streaming services. Don't even get me started on their satellite issues when I had that for the past 10yrs. They claim they have your best interest and customer service. I switched over from satellite to streaming because it was more cost efficient and easier to access. Boy was I wrong. They started with charging me an extra 13 buck to get a device to help assist the streaming (which you don't need if you can access the application), next they could not link my accounts therefore I could not watch the streaming service while they cancelled my satellite service for a week, and finally after being passed to 28 different agents for help I decided that I will no longer utilize there service and hope they file for bankruptcy soon. Incompetence reigns supreme within the rank and file of the direct TV customer service unit. I had an appointment between 12-4pm cst to have my dish reinstalled after a resent porch renovation. At 4:30, it was clear the technician was a no show. From 4:30 to 5:30 I spoke with 3 reps of varying seniority, none capable of giving a reason for the technician's absence or an ETA on their arrival. Least helpful was the inept ranking "supervisor", Jordan (badge #2802132), who not only couldn't answer my simple query, he also couldn't point me to anyone who could. If you don't know the answer, find out who does - is that still the prevailing customer service motto? His best resolution to the situation? Simple. Just schedule a new appointment on a new day. Nevermind the 5.5 hours of lost productivity or day off work. In a world where streaming is King, dishes aren't necessary, and you don't need to clear a whole afternoon to get service, direct TV somehow manages. We had AT&T internet prior to the merger with Direct TV. We merged our accounts under Direct TV in 2017, and my husband was the account holder. We canceled both services in 2019 since we were unhappy with the Direct TV service, and paid our balance to Direct TV in full. While attempting to refinance our mortgage, there was an item in collections with Franklin Collections. When I contacted them, they indicated it was a final balance with AT&T under my name from 2019. How could I be billed for services when my account had been closed for over two years? I never received a bill, an email or a phone call from AT&T or Direct TV, nor have I ever received anything from this Collections agency. This company's complete disorganization should not negatively impact my credit score. This practice is completely unfair to the consumer. read more

We started calling DirecTV about 8 or 9 months ago to see when our "contract" was up. We kept getting the run-around about when it was over, and the date changed each and every time we called. And by the way, be prepared to spend an hour or more on the phone each time! Now we are fighting with them over bills we keep getting - anywhere from $200 to $400 for "early termination fees" from them, even though we haven't had a contract with them for months! AT&T was great - they even sent us a rebate for the service we did not use them them, but DirecTV is the worst. They just keep repeating the same garbage over and over - that we owe them more money. And the more we fight with them, the higher the bills get! Nasty customer service, no supervisor to talk to. The day of installation you get an order detail for a moving discount of $199 and additional charges on any new equipment and don't forget your are locked in with them for an additional 24 month on any one piece of equipment that you are adding whether new or old. I guess I could look on the bright side as it is beautiful out & take the pixelation as incentive to take a walk, read a book, cancel Direct Tv.... I can hit the reset button till my finger bleeds nice person at Direct Tv but that doesn't solve my problem. Yes, I have done it. No it is not raining out or storming or anything else that causes the Direct Tv dish to lose conductivity. I'd offer it Angel Kisses but it is too fragile for that. I especially love the suggestion to go clean the Direct Tv satellite... ummmm this is a 45 floor high-rise... pretty sure I can't go out there even if it was not a huge safety concern.
