This is a fantastic, helpful place. A few years ago I walked into Royal to buy a TV. I was annoyed by my previous set--I bought it online and it developed a line of dead pixels a few years out of warranty--and liked the idea of shopping at a local business. Joe was very kind and helpful, despite resale not quite being their business. He located the precise set I wanted (from another dealer in Florida!) and hand-delivered it to our apartment for a great price. It's still one of my favorite service experiences in the city. Over the years I've recommended Royal to several friends, and if I ever needed repair work I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again. Joe and Bob at Royal Home Entertainment were able to magically transform my "rat's nest" of dozens of non-terminated and unlabeled cat5 cables into a seamless multi-room wifi system controlling four rooms and two 5.1 surround theater areas, using different TVs (one TCL Roku and one Sharp) across a mesh network. It took two days of hard work but Bob was incredibly patient throughout the process, tenacious, answered all my questions, worked closely with the Denom support team, and spent extra time and effort (at no cost) making it all look cosmetically nice by adding new wall plates and organizing the mess of cables. Joe also took extra steps to make the process fit my budget, which I can't be more grateful for. Couldn't recommend them more highly! read more

I moved into a new condo that had built in speakers in the family room, bedroom and outdoor deck. The old volume sliders were broken, so I went ahead and got new impedance matching volume controls for the 3 sets of speakers. I then tried to setup my receiver and couldn't get any sound. I didn't really want to get into figuring out how the place was wired and waived the white flag. I easily setup an appointment with Joe and he had his technicians come out on time. They arrived with masks and gloves (COVID19) and were careful the whole time. They easily knew where to look and how to get my receiver hooked up properly. Found out I had a Sonance setup that was good (for it's time) but the driver plate was unnecessary with my amp. They took out the Sonance driver and got me setup with my existing Yamaha amplifier. They helped figure out how to get my zones setup on the amplifier and gave some pointers to look out for. I'm all setup now and ended up hooking up my Chromecast to my receiver to stream audio from my phone while I'm outside on the deck also! I'm a happy customer and was glad to have Royal Home Entertainment troubleshoot my issues. read more

Visited this store for a third time. Last time I came in and an older gentleman helped me find a cord to replace the one I lost on an older flat screen. THIS TIME, a bald gentleman was there and was ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. Immediately said "we don't deal with phones and computers". I politely told him it was not a computer. He did not seem interested in helping me find the right connector. Now if you have been to this store you know they have a MILLION AC ADAPTERS behind the counter. Do you think he looked and tried to see some connectors that might fit in to my device? Nope! Just scrounged around a box, read the back of some adapters and said "I don't got it" maybe if I was buying a home entertainment center he would have been more helpful. A few weeks ago I hired a different company to install my television and A/V equipment, but I ended up getting burned by them for various reasons. Later that day, I literately ran into two of Royal's installation professionals on the street and inquired about their services, and all I can say is that it must have been meant to be. I hired them and they were fantastic! Royal did an awesome job hanging my TV on the wall and installing my other A/V equipment. The owner (Joe) and the two guys that did my install (Adam and Alex) were very professional and knowledgeable, not to mention respectful of my home (removed their shoes, cleaned up afterwards, etc.). They even saved me some money by pointing out that my speakers weren't setup properly and risked blowing out my $2000 receiver. They came up with a simple (and cheap!) solution and saved the day again. Highly, highly recommended for all your custom A/V needs! read more

I couldn't have had a better experience with the installation from Royal. After hiring another company to come mount the TV, I was told that they couldn't mount it on the wall without cutting a big hole in my wall. He told me the alternative was running a molding all over my nice fire place. It was at this point I decided a second opinion was in order. I walked around the corner from where I live and explained the situation to Joe. After getting a chuckle at the incompetence of the other installation crew, Joe said his guys were out right now but once they got back he would send them over to check it out. After 5 minutes they told me that they would be surprised if there was any problem at all with the mounting and quoted me a price that was the same as the other company but would also mount another tv in the bedroom. After getting my money back from the other store, I hired Royal to come mount the TV. Given it was the week before the super bowl, Joe let me know they were busy but if they could fit me in they would. A couple days later, he gave me a call letting me know they could come by Saturday between 11-12 just in time to mount the TV before the big game. At 11:15 when no one was there yet, Joe called me to let me know they were running late (even though they weren't yet) and told me he would update me after he got ahold of his installation crew... and they were still there by noon. The installation couldn't have gone easier and it even ended up less than they quoted me since it took an hour less, so they gave me the $100 off the final price. I bought a Sony TV that was expertly installed by Joe. A week later, I started having trouble with some streaming features. Joe made an initial trip to test it out, but it obviously was a Sony issue. Within days, he returned and got Sony support on the phone to work with him on straightening things out. It now works fine. As usual, Royal returned emails almost immediately and then quickly scheduled the repair trips and arrived exactly on time. Royal Home helped us mount 2 TVs in our new home. They are awesome! They did an awesome job. They were such nice guys and advised us on the best way to mount our TVs. The job was perfect. They even helped us hang a 60 lb mirror in our living room :) Salvador is great at what he does. He is a pro. I had an older 50 ince plasma that weighs a ton, and him and his partner were able to mount the TV perfectly. Don't go to Best Buy and use a big box retailer. I have a Bose Acoustic Wave that I have had since 1997 and a couple years ago, the CD player stopped working. Recently, I searched the internet for places that fix Bose and Royal Home Entertainment came up as a listing. I called and spoke to Joe who told me they were a certified Bose repair shop and the price would be $195 to fix it and it would give the system a year warranty. I was ecstatic and brought it in a couple days later. When I met Joe in person, he was very personable and also very knowledgeable about the product. I left it there and within a reasonable time frame, they called me up and let me know it was ready. The price was exactly as stated and the customer service was excellent. Joe, you run a great shop, but the way I was just treated by one of your associates wasn't great at all. I purchased two air conditioners in July and they've worked great. I also purchased two 3rd party iPhone lightning cables from Joe on August 8th. Over the past two weeks, one of those cables started failing. When I bought the cables from Joe, I asked him "Hey, are these going to die out on me in 3 months? 3rd party chargers have done that to me in the past." To which he responded "Nah, you'll be good. Come back in if you have any issues." Today, 3 months to the day, I walked into the store to see if Joe could help me out. Unfortunately, he wasn't around. One of his associates was manning the desk. I presented him with the cable, telling him I bought it 3 months ago (I had the receipt with me) and that it had died out. He waved another associate over and asked him to test the cable. The other associate informed us that the cable was dead. He then said "Here you go, nothing I can do about that. We take merchandise back up to 7 days, not 3 months. I have no idea what you've done to this cable, I have no idea how you've treated it or what damage you could have caused." I replied "I just charge my phone with it, I bought two from you at the same time, one still works and now the other doesn't, is there anything you can do?" "No" he replied. He didn't bother to suggest alternatives, didn't even bother to apologize. Heck, he didn't even say good bye. He just watched me walk out of the store. Why was this associate accusing me of screwing up my phone charger? Not sure, but I don't feel welcome coming back to this local electronic shop. After spending $400 between ACs and chargers with Joe this year, it's time to take my business elsewhere. read more

Honestly the best experience I've had regarding stereo equipment. During my college tenure, a former roommate who has yet to come forward knocked one of my speakers off a high shelf. While the exterior was only left with scratches, the internal equipment came loose, and rattled around the speaker box. It also caused an electric short, and I'm sure a slew of other problems that could be simplified to "sound doesn't come out of this anymore :(" I had taken it into other places that all charged an initial service fee to even check the speaker, which I wasn't sure could be fixed. It seemed so silly to pay upwards of 75 dollars to get a "there's nothing we can do" phone call a week later, so I just put off the process for a little over a year. After getting a real job, I decided to just chalk up the fee, and brought it into Royal Home. Much to my surprise, the technician simply looked at the speaker, took my number, gave me a claim check, and sent me on my way. No service fee required! I got a call later on THAT DAY (yes. same day. crazy. life is crazy.) that if my speaker could be fixed, it'd cost 55 dollars. I was reassured that I'd only be charged if the speaker ended up working. The next day I received another phone call that my speaker was repaired, and was ready for immediate pickup. When I went to pickup the speaker, the had it hooked up to their own sound system so I could listen to it for myself before I paid them. The speaker is now at home, resting easy on a shelf. It's secured though, so rest easy. Definitely recommend them for your stereo needs. Great customer service, skilled technicians, and awesome turnaround! read more

They were able to work me in on two days notice and did a phenomenal job at keeping me informed at when the appointment was going to be. And on the day of the install, Bob and his partner were on time, courteous and professional. These guys could not have been nicer. I'd been window shopping for months, and they were always helpful even though they probably remembered seeing me walk out the door more than once empty-handed. I finally decided to bite, and they were happy to walk me through my options, focusing on finding me the best TV for what I'd be using it for (gaming -- I don't even have cable), while also understanding that I didn't have a whole bunch of money to drop on it. I had almost decided on a smaller TV when they pulled me over to a bigger one that looked just as great (if not better) -- they were able to figure out that I didn't care that it was an older floor model and slightly heavier, I just wanted what would provide the best experience. The one regret I have, and I blame this more on me not thinking to ask the question than them not thinking to mention it, is that my TV doesn't have direct internet capability -- they probably figured I'd be able to get everything I needed through my gaming console, and saving the extra money was worth the trade-off, but having seen the newer Bravias with internet, I'm a little jealous. :) I had to come back to pick it up later that week (I didn't drive my car there the day I bought it), and they had no problem holding onto it for me. The owner was there when I picked it up, and even though I didn't spend a whole lot of money that day, he made it known how much he appreciated my business. The guys at Royal also VERY mindful of what's going on at Best Buy down the street and other competitors online, and they're very transparent about their pricing -- when we were talking about pricing and the fact that I was buying a floor model, they searched for the same TV online right in front of me to show the savings. I haven't had any experience with them as far as installation or support goes, but I wouldn't hesitate going to them if I needed those services. read more

Now she told me to do this yelp because they actually deserve it. I have not used this store for its given purpose (electronic repair or installation). Instead I've visited them for fiddly, inexpensive errands - once I had just moved into the neighborhood and needed a cable I had lost and couldn't identify by name. Another time I asked them to dispose of an old bricked laptop and cellphone. (I had been idly keeping them around for a couple years, I thankfully didn't have a sudden and complete electronic catastrophe.) Both times the man working there was gruff, to the point, and well-informed. Also, helpful. I know some people find that rude, but honestly that's exactly what I want from someone in an electronic store. The chatty, used car salesman approach that sales associates are forced to take at Best Buy makes me uncomfortable. And the guy (at this place, not Best Buy) was more than happy to answer my questions. In the past I have typically bought my electronics online, but as long as this place is accessible, I plan on checking out their selection first. And I understand that most physical stores have to charge more than Amazon, but the few prices I saw were equal or comparable. read more

Forget the "Big Box" stores!!!! Royal has been around for over thirty years. I recently wanted to upgrade my home audio / visual system to interface with my Android smart phone. Not all of these components will work with "hot spot" wireless. Joe & Alex at Royal actually used my phone, connected to the store display and walked me through the set up. No way would that have happened at Best Buy, Walmart or Cosco!!!! We need to keep these small, intellectually rich, businesses in business. At the end of the day, the price was very competitive with all the others, but I also went home with the knowledge of how to set it up and have it work. Called on the phone with a basic question. New in town trying get a feel for the local players and don't really like the lottery of who you talk to at the big box stores. The guy on the phone had no interest in helping my basic question and then hung up on me. From the reviews the owner sounds great but suggestion to the owner, don't let the installers answer the phone! I accidentally found these guys looking for some high-end remote control equipment. They gave me some pretty reasonable deals on some pretty high-end stuff. After speaking with them, I Iearned from the owner, Joe, that they did a great deal of custom installs. I had just started retrofitting my entire house for multi-room music. I got a little fed up doing it myself, so I had them offer me a quote. Long story short, I gave them the go ahead and everything is now pretty much perfect. I was very particular that my girlfriend didn't want anything to be in disarray or dirty and they were extremely accommodating to this request. I gave them the key to my place, went on vacation, came home and my whole project was complete upon my return. They truly do great work and offer great advice on why you should or should not do certain things. Frankly, if I hadn't went in there to pick up my first order from them, and hear all of their great recommendations, I never would have asked them to quote the job. But, after just randomly bs'ing with them, I could tell they really knew their stuff. They weren't trying to upsell me on anything, just offering sound advice. I found these guys on Yelp and used them because of their excellent reviews. The reviews were accurate. They came out the day after I called them and reviewed my home theatre system which I was having a couple problems with. After figuring out the issue they fixed it and left. Much to my dismay, later that night the problem came back. I called Joe back and he sent his guys out again the next morning. After they quickly fixed the problem, this time for good, I starting writing a check for the labor for the 1 hour they spent in my condo and they immediately stopped saying me this second visit was on them. The entire experience was superb. The gents from Royal Home Entertainment were bright, hugely capable, very conscientious and determined to make sure that the install was flawless and that we were completely satisfied. The breath of their skillset was an added plus. they installed and mounted 3 TV's, set up our new internet and connected our also new phone service. They did almost all of the wiring, replaced old parts, worked on improving the Comcast signal and even successfully dealt with the people at Comcast on the phone(which is no small feat). They also helped with our Apple TV's and our Apple Airport Express and even made sure that our Chromecast worked properly. As for neatness and respect for our home, they were 100% on it. All the equipment that we purchased from RHE was reasonably priced and worked exactly as promised. The TV's have gorgeous pictures, and the audio (Bose) on the main TV is awesome and throws sound all over the room. The prices were great and the extra value of their install, made it a tremendous value and a bargain. Again, I can't speak highly enough of the guys from RHE. Chris & Alex just kicked butt on this install. It was a huge comfort knowing that we had smart guys on the job who were not going to leave any part of the job less than perfect. And from what I can tell, they have awesome musical taste too. An extra perk for this musician. Similar to a few other reviewers, we recently moved into a townhome with pre-wired speakers that were basically a tangled, unlabeled mess and controlled from the basement which was extremely inconvenient. We wanted to use the existing speakers but control the system from our living room on the main floor. One company gave us an estimate that was insanely expensive and the other said the arrangement we desired was not possible. Bob, from Royal, came out for the estimate and figured out a clever way to enable the system and control we wanted. We are now able to control everything from our phones and the sound is awesome! We were extremely impressed with Bob's punctuality and professionalism and he was great with our old dog Lucy;-) Finally, despite us being unable to meet him today to close out the project, he will be meeting us tomorrow morning at our convenience and even gave me a call tonight to help me learn how to use the system over the phone. I would HIGHLY recommend Royal for any sort of audio or home theater work and we will definitely be using them again if we have a similar project.
