My final words TO DTV: TO me and many customers, DTV is a fraudulent company and I will most assuredly actively turn thousands of customers away from you by telling the world what you did to me. It is my fault for not checking with BBB or consumer affairs about the warnings they are posting that completely to a T describe your deceptive scammer policies. (See BBB) Besides that Your technology is years behind Netflix. Your user ability sucks. The glitches alone are not worth the headaches. The corruptness away from Christian values will send a multitude to HELL as you will be held responsible. Let me explain. Your default settings Show PORN Channels and Pornography stations where even the names and pictures could tempt and cause kids to adults to end up in Hell with you for causing these little ones to stumble. Your family packages are laced with vile programing and commercials that are anything but family. Then you leave out of family packages cheap rerun stations which are the only stations that have awesome shows like Touched by an angel!! And you want an extra 30 some dollars to get one channel.. No matter how hard me or your tec worked nobody could keep from showing non-package shows as part of my plan shows so over half of my set to record shows were non viewable when we finally sat down to watch with error messages that took months to get a clear answer on from your phone people. Also the fact that my bill was triple what promised and I still did not get the few cheap channels I needed. The fact that we have to also watch commercials galore after already paying a small fortune for your sloppy service is theft . Commercials should be paying you enough for the service to more than pay you.. I mean tons of commercials (20 to 45%).. So your salesman's promised me a trial period. From the first month you would not send me your return boxes. You convinced me you would wave my fees if I gave your technicians a chance to fix my service extending the nightmare for months which you later charged me for.. Your technician's finally came and called it an unfixable Glitch. (Said he had the same problem at his home) Then 3 months after I thought my life was free from you. You suddenly stole 570 dollars from my account because I was stupid enough to give you guys my charge card numbers before installation. (why didn't I check the BBB?) Nobody once ever called me back after spending 30 hours on the phone with you guys and never getting anywhere but a bad ride of lies. In the end you never called me back. But kept hanging up on me while waiting for managers. forced to go through the chain of managers all over again several times. A lesser manager finally warned me that in 10 years of working there no body had ever been released of the unauthorized debit like the 571 dollars that was taken from account without permission. (Against policy to reverse pending charges on my card) So next I promised in a few weeks they will call me LOL and my bank says it will take up 90 days to dispute the theft. So now my daughters Birthday party was ruined on top of it by the unauthorized 571 dollars they stole from us. All together they are trying to get like over a thousand dollars from us for a few months of HELL. they claim they have no record of the promise that if I let a Technician come out that they would wave my contract fees.. But months later yesterday they said I would have had to give their technician 5 trys to have gotten the set up fees forgiven.. (After the fact) So you see the long web of lies they use to keep you racking up months of charges? Thankfully I got out after a few months of HELL. Unfortunately I will be forced to pay for years of service anyway without any tv by DTV scum of the earth. This review on DirecTV is as a result of in my opinion of the continuous degradation of service. I have had DirecTV service off and on for over 20 years. There was a time when DirecTV was the biggest and best game in town and offered the best customer service second to none across the board. Starting about 5 years ago I noticed subtle shifts in DirecTV product, service and customer service. Example, the way DirecTV put their channel packages together that required a customer subscribe to packages that are outrageous in price just to get a single channel such as the SCI. channel. There was a time I paid more than $200.00 a month with no HBO, Showtime, Cinemax or any other premium cable channel. And here is one of the techniques they use, when you call them about it they offer you a free three month premium channel such as HBO or Showtime and cinema. In fact they pile on several freebies to get you to stay with them, when the freebies roll off the customer get a enormous DirecTV bill. One day I noticed D'network dish popping up on all of my neighbors homes on both sides of the street. And when I took a moment to think about why, it simply made sense based on my own experience with DirecTV. And so I paid DirecTV the required amount to complete my contract with them and subscribed to their number one competitor. My viewing cost for twice as much viewing privileges including HBO, Showtime went down by more than half. Some years later I moved in with a family member and to my horror I discovered he had DirecTV service. From the moment I moved in with my family member it was apparent there was a problem with DirecTV. One Problem in particular was when a third party DirecTV installer came to our home to install an additional DVR. The moment the installer arrived in our home it was apparent that he was ready to end his day and didn't want to do the installation. The reason we knew this is because without assessing what was necessary to install the additional DVR he stated that the installation could not happen, because the structure was built without including the ability to expand. And I knew to be not true, as I have installed DirecTV equipment many times in the past. After some conversation the installer called his supervisor to support his decision not to go forward with the install. To his surprise his supervisor disagreed with him and instructed him to go forward with the installation. The installer stated he was not going to do the install no matter what his supervisor said, and went on to say "this guy is not my supervisor", "he is filling in for my real supervisor". At this point the installer walked around the outside of our home and returned back inside proclaiming that on second consideration the install can go forward and that it will be easier than he originally thought. In fact the installation took about 30 minutes, less time than it took for the installer to debate why he could not do the install which was about 45 minutes. When he was done installing I discovered the installer had drilled a hole in the base board of our home that he decided he could not use that hole and he filled it with clear corking and left it. He then drilled a one inch hole and ran a quarter inch cable through it and filled it with clear corking and left that unfinished. Pictures available upon request. I filed a claim with DirecTV to repair / finish the installation properly and I just received a letter from DirecTV claims stating their installer did everything proper and therefore our claim is denied to repair the unneeded hole drilled into the baseboard of our home and filled with clear corking. To all concerned, beware of DirecTV and their antics, in my opinion, the only thing that is keeping DirecTV as a major competitor is the NFL ticket. This started last Thursday, I ordered UFC 231 ppv by phone, got the confirmation message for channel 123 at 8pm, ok. My son asked for this as a part of his Christmas, I readily agreed, was also looking forward to these fights, excellent line up on this card. Come Saturday night, no display just an order screen, called customer service 83 minutes and 4 people later was finally told they could not start this showing and could give us the REPLAY at 1AM! Live event ordered 5 hours long, replay 4 hours only, hmmmm. 1AM no show, called and all I could get the message the offices are closed call back during normal business hours, Called Sunday morning, another 5 people and 86 minutes, this time a supervisor supposedly named Jay says he will give us the 2:30 pm showing at no charge, yeah right. 2:30 pm no fights, ask for a manager/supervisor, takes 3 more angry phone calls to finally get connected with a "supervisor" Erica is up this time, says she is not even at work ok, after another 45 mihnutes she says they have no idea what the issue is cant help us get the showing at all and asks for email address to contact us when "they figure something out" . Call again and get a different supervisor, says its Technical issue, so dumps us on tech support, again Samantha promises fights at 7pm and swears either her or her supervisor will call between 7 and 7:10 to double check if the fights actually show up, good thing I did't hold my breath for that phone call. Boldly lying dishonest, disrespectful bunch of customer service employees, told to tell the customer anything just to get you off the phone especially if it is close to closing time. I pay for the full package, seems to me they would give me some type of service, ha ha ha, as long as you pay your bill, they do not care. A total of 9 phone calls in a 24 hour period totaling 5.5 hours. Have also been complaining to them about the channel apps also. Was promised credit on my bill last month for this issue, return calls from development to see what is going on, it's been 3 weeks since the promise of a return phone call on that issue. When you get premier package you are supposed to have access to the channel apps, since the start of the ATT/Directv changeover cannot access these, cant log in because the app cannot verify my directv subscription, but DTV says it is the apps problem. Really? have access to none of the all at the same time but it is their problem? I am searching who I can file a complaint with, for charging for services they are no providing but still advertising, I hope someone at the better business bureau or the FCC will listen, I am so done, but since I'm in a rural area I don't have much choice of providers and they are fully aware and take advantage of this fact very readily. read more

Sales Man approached me at Costco, gave me a really good deal so I thought on Direct TV, I originally had Uverse, which my contract was expiring, So He set me up with a 2 year contract for 78 dollars, which i thought what a great deal, I had told him I need a bundle package because I also have my internet and land line phone, he said I would pay 78.00 a month, I thought Great! sign me on, yet I did tell him I only watch FOX News and OAN, and I dont watch the other News channels, so i wanted him to help me pick a selection that would make sure that would be on there, he picked a package and said that would be on there , So I would be paying for a bundle package of 78 dollars a month, what a deal ,NOT, The Direct Service man was very nice, and he turned on the TV after installing the dish on my roof and Fox News and OAN was not on there, I said it was suppose to be on there, he gave me a number to call to add it, which cost around 10 dollars more, which was no big deal considering I had a deal , but was a little disappointed that the sales person at Costco stated he had that in there for me, Also I was told Direct TV would charge me 100.00 dollars for the box, but that would be waived when I turned in the Uverse boxes, NOT TRUE, I had to pay the 100.00, then I received a bill for 187.00 from Direct, and then I received another bill from UVERSE for 186.00, for the same month i had canceled Uverse, so I was paying for 2 BILLS, almost 400,00! I called Uverse and said I had canceled them 1st week of July and had Direct TV installed, Uverse stated they do not PRO RATE, so they expected me to pay for both these bills full price! I called the Uverse rep and told her I can not afford to pay for 2 cable bills and this was not right, she said sorry UVERSE does not prorate and would have to also charge me for the whole month I never had it! I was on the phone for hours and finally got her to take off 58.00 for the TV part of the bill , but she said i owed for the internet and phone, I told her I had that also switched over to direct, she claimed, no I would have to pay them, and I lost the bundle discount for internet and phone due to me canceling the UVERSE! So I had to pay even more for my internet and phone! This is so corrupt! I had to pay over 300.00 for the both of them! THERE IS NO DEAL, THAT DEAL WAS FOR TV ONLY even though I told him I wanted the bundle package and he assured me it was all of it in the deal, when all is said and done, I am saving around 20.00 from UVERSE to Direct, my bill will be 165.00 plus the damn taxes! I have gone through hell, so that 300.00 gift card wwas worthless and went to pay the double bill from UVERSE AND DIRECT! I feel this is corrupt, how can this business even stay open? read more

I had Direct TV for years on my boat and was happy with it. I am not the kind of person that goes out of there way to write a bad review but it is warranted in this situation. I bought a new RV and was trying to setup D TV in the RV. Shouldn't be difficult.. Called the number they provided in the setup instructions and then got transferred, transferred, again, and again. Each time I had to explain my situation. Each time the rep thinking I wanted to reactivate my service from my previous account. After 2.5 hours on the phone, the rep said they couldn't help me and I would have to call back the next day during normal business hours. I called the next day and went through the same things. Over 6 transfers and several hours on the phone. I finally got someone that said they would have to send me another Direct TV box. They were going to SEND a new box... I made sure of this. The following Tuesday I get a call from an installer that he was at my address and was there to install my DTV. Keep in mind, I NEVER made an appointment, Furthermore, the tech arrived at my Marine where my old setup was. I told them that DTV had said they were sending a box. They asked if I wanted to cancel the appointment. I said, only if you can verify that the box is in the mail. Because I wasn't around because I never scheduled an appointment, they cancelled the service call and , guess what, I never got a box in the mail. To add insult to injury, the service tech called after DTV cancelled my installation and said 'All I had to do was call DTV to reschedule an appointment.' I told the tech the incredible frustration and trouble I had getting anyway and asked him to have his supervisor to call me. Never received a call, no follow up, nothing. So after 3 differrent days, 14 transfers, and over 6 hours on the phone, I still don't have Direct TV in the RV. I am in the customer service business and this, by far, was the worst customer experience I have ever had. I will NEVER do business with Direct TV again. Keep in mind I waited several weeks to write this review hoping my anger level and /or D TV might fix this issue before writing this review. Buyer beware if you need service with your account. Directv, what can I say, they are horrible. We ordered a year ago by phone. Were told 12 months at this price. Fine, no mention of 24 month committment, which we would not have signed up for at all, since we arent going to be in the house that long. So after a year, yesterday, we switched to Spectrum, since its month to month, no contract at all. We had continuous problems with their Genie equipment, I wish they would have granted a single wish, make the damn thing work right. Finally after about 8 months, we'd had enough, i was not happy, talked to customer rip off representative, who wanted to charge me to come fix their crappy equipment, because, they were sure, it was our fault it didnt work. Finally after bantering back and forth for an hour or more, they conceded and sent the tech no charge. Tech was very nice, he knew it was their equipment, he added some piece, changed a bunch of cableing around and low and behold, it finally worked. Still occaisionally needed a reconnect fix, but not everyday like it was. I believe they were "being extremely generous" and gave us no refunds for lost use of their system! Now, our year was up, we thought, ok, month to month, we called to see if any specials, "nope" none for us. We decided that since we'd be moving, we would go to Spectrum, its less expensive, and month to month, we could most likely move it with us, without a visit from "Direct rip off Tv". I can install it myself and have Spectrum send the activiation code. Never once, in all our contacts with this company, did anyone, including the tech who initially installed the system advised us, we were committed for 24 months. Like I said, we knew we'd be moving, so 24 months was out of the question. Never ever, ever, ever again, will I use Direct rip off Tv. I will buy a Walmart $10 digial antennae first! Get better reception and customer service, and channels all free! Do youself a favor, RUN, do not WALK away from Directv! ZERO STARS Directv is all-time the worst customer service provider I have ever dealt with. Countless hours have been wasted trying to simply cancel my account, 3 calls in total, each supervisor providing different information. How does that even happen? First call with Bianca (BM5485) of Lubbock, TX to cancel my account 12/5/19 went as follows: [Rep stated account closed, credit of $48.74 to be sent via Visa gift card within 30 days / shipping boxes to be sent for equipment to be returned]... Second call with Nathan (El Segundo) 12/26/19 to find out where my shipping boxes were: [Rep stated I was charged for month of Dec in full and now I have a balance of $71 and change and that no boxes were shipped as I was supposed to deliver the equipment to a UPS store, none of which was previously stated. I was also told that my credit of $48.74 would be "reinvestigated" with the back office and I would receive a call within 72 hours explaining what went wrong / why I was charged after cancellation / and when I would get my credit back...no call or box was received by Jan 2 (3 business days after my second call]... Third call with Alex (RX101P) of Asia (she said she could not be specific) Jan 2: [Rep states no credit will be given, no boxes were sent, no "reinvestigation" of my credit was initiated and I have a balance of $291 some dollars for unreturned equipment!!! I lost it. Not only could I not understand her because of broken English, she seemed to take pleasure in my distress which made matters even worse. Now I have to take time out my day to drive this equipment to UPS and hopefully they will do as DTV said and send it back for me] I feel taken advantage of by this company...especially since I was a loyal customer for over 10 years...they treat you like a number...this is the worst customer service I have ever had. I just called Directv to cancel my services with them do to their Tech canceling my appt. not once but twice without notifing me, I took off work to transfer services and get it installed at my new place and I can't keep taking off work like that and then this Lady in the Loyalty Dept name Connie I spoke with told me that she thinks I am trying to cancel my service because my promotion was about to end and I don't want to pay the full bill.SMH who says that to customers and she talked to me like a Dog telling me thats what the bill is and you need to pay the 240.00 early termination fee she isn't waving anything and I am trying to get out of my bill thats not true at all the Tech. NEVER showed up and she was some very RUDE to me for no reason and she is in the Loyalty Dept. she telling me she can re-schedule my appt and I telling her Ma'am I can't keep taking off work like that for cable and she didn't want hear nothing I had to say I even asked her can I pay half of the early termination fee and she told me no I will price the whole price point blank period. Mind you I was told I can pay half of the 240 which would have been 120 and my acct was notated by a young lady name Kenya before I spoke to Connie and she told me I should have took it then when it was offered to me again very Rude for no reason. Directv used to be a decent company with world-class customer service - Not anymore, and the staffs are horrible!!! I called back in March to suspend or put my services into a vacation mode due to a major remodeling - I was told that when i'm ready just connect the receivers and i should be good. 3 months later, i cannot the services notice that Directv had completely disconnect my service for non-payment of 4-6 months while my services was suppose to be on "suspend" or "vacation" mode. When i got on the phone with retention department, the lady that answer was the obnoxious, rude, and "don't care" attitude employee. She told me that my service was active all those times & even though i explained to them several times that it was suppose to be suspend till the remodeling was done. She said that i need to pay all those months bill or my service will be completely disconnected and additional bill will be sent. I demanded to speak to a Manager and she told me that the 'manager' is not going to do anything for me that she cannot do. I kindly asked again, she said that it would be 15-20 minutes before i can speak to a manager, and her tone continue to escalate. She then rudely said that she would be glad to cancel my service and send me the boxes to return the receivers! Long story short, i immediately terminate my service with DIRECTV after 7 years, and the next day i receive another call from DIRECTV (retention department), asking me again, why did i cancel my service after so long!!! - I explained everything to them again and she told me that there is nothing that can be done!!! DirectTV scammed me 1. I told them I already have a land line, but they said it's free anyway. End up canceling a $65 extra charge from their internet/phone CenturyLink 2. I told them I do not want equipment protection but when their guys left one of them called back said he signed me up "by accident" to this service, and I have to cancel it. When I called to cancel- customer service said I have to wait a month and remove this service on the exact day 3. At the moment I sign up I had only one TV at the house, the rep said no prob for $6 I can add additional TV. 3 weeks later I got my new 4K TV and asked for additional box - customer service wanted for Guine $400!!! And for a simple box $200 4. I asked a supervisor to talk to me to escalate my concerns reg bad customer experience- no one called back. I wrote an email. Got a reply DirectTV working on my request. 3 days later I wrote again. And finally girl from customer service call and offer a $25 discount, that is aprx 6% discount on $400. 5. Then I said I want to cancel- waited 15 min on hold, and nice lady said, that it been more then 14 days and she will bill me $450!!!!!! I explained that I was on 2 different business trips and was not able to check out great features of direct TV, it was 19th day of service, but CS said - can't help 5. The worst part, DirectTV promised that their on demand will replace Netflix and Hulu As I was streaming before, but all movies are not free and I have to resign up with them. If I could give a 0 star I would. Spoke to a guy named Phil. Sounded like a used car salesman. He did go through a whole bunch of packages they offer but was dancing around the pricing. He took my credit card info saying he needs it in order to go further in details. Everything did sound great the pricing all the channels but then he says its a 24 month commitment. I tell him that I would not be able to do a 24 month contract because I move every 6 months. He insist that I need to schedule an installation date. I TRY TO EXPLAIN TO HIM THAT I CANNOT SIGN A CONTRACT FOR 24 MONTHS!!!! He then says my card was already charged for $8.95 and that to cancel contracts would cost $20.00 per month x the 24 months for penalization fees. I told him he must be on drugs because he was making no sense. You would think Direct TV would hire genuine and intelligent people. Instead they work like scam artists with no integrity. Also beware when they tell you you get three months of HBO for free this is also just an up selling scam because after 3 months they will start charging your card as well. My advice to Direct TV would be take a meeting with Apple or another big company and learn about customer service. He also said I could not cancel over the phone for a few days and then insisted on scheduling a installation date. Direct TV has deniability down to a science. We've had numerous issues with DVR and WiFi HD over the last 6 months and they've blamed it and everything but their equipment and programming. The service tech that came out said it's a known issue with the DVR and when I called customer service they blamed it on the weather even though we haven't had any rain in over 45 days. Talked to a supervisor after that and was told we were having terrestrial interference. How could they know that without a spectrum analization of the area? Suppose it was, why am I paying for equipment and/or programming that has these issues? Another tech came out and said it was the DVR. Received a replacement DVR 2 weeks ago and the exact same issues with partial recordings, blank guide screen, not part of your programming package statements (which works sometimes), programming freezes requiring reboot, wireless bridge not found and direct DVR playback scan will jump to end of recording without allowing rewind or resume. Had to break down and pay early cancellation, which they won't rescind on top of new service with Dish. Worst experience with a company I've ever encountered. read more

Big mistake switching to directv. Was suppose to get a combo pricing for tv and att internet. That never happened. Prices increased on first bill. They put me in touch with the department that handles bundle billing. When i explained to her the price did not reflect the bundle price on the contract i signed my answer was "it doesnt matter what they quote you when signing up. Thats not the price. My computer says the higher prce so thats your price". A week after install a (so-called) customer satisfaction manager came to my house. He wanted to make sure i was happy. I explained they pricing situation. He said he showed the lower price so he would take care of it. Left me his direct number if any other problems. You guessed it! Price was never lowered and he never returned any of my phone calls. The recording and on demand is horrible. Keeps stopping the shows in the middle with a "buffering" issue. You cannot fast forward through all the ads which are the same ones over and over and over. You have no way of marking on demand show you watched. Setting recordings is a pain. I hate it! read more

I was scheduled to change my boxes for Saturday between 12pm-4pm,no one showed up meanwhile they were sending me emails saying "oh don't worry we didn't forget about you technician is on the way."At 3:30pm I received a phone call from direct tv saying that your technician will arrive from 3:55pm-4:10pm.Its 4:45pm no one showed up still,I'm calling direct tv customer service to find out whats the delay,the answer was can you please give us one more hour.Its already 5:50pm and I'm still waiting,I call direct tv again to find out whats going on so they tell me "hold on I'm going to contact the technician."After this some lady called around 6:15pm saying "I'm sorry we cannot come in because we have no equipment in stock."VERY NICE SERVICE.Direct tv called me and rescheduled an appointment for sunday 8am-12pm.Around 9am I called direct tv to confirm my appointment and guess what....THERE WAS NO APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED.THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICES THAT I EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!!THEY GOT WORSE SINCE THEY GOT TOGETHER WITH AT&T!!!! read more
