She had stayed at other boarding facilities and has been well socialized, we have never had any issues with boarding or being at dog parks etc. We had our dog stay twice, when picking her up the other staff members always said she did well, never reported any issues to us. When we called to arrange boarding the third time, the owner answered and informed us he would not allow our dog to come back as "she doesn't do well here". No other information was given. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because we really liked the place, the dogs can go outside and the staff is generally kind and does a good job. It is a shame though that the owner is so prejudiced against certain breeds, and I feel that someone who really has that much experience working with dogs (as he claims) would know not to judge a dog based on breed but judge on a case by case basis. And if our dog really did have an issue, why were we not told when it happened? I find it hard to believe our dog randomly had an issue at this boarding facility, but never had any issue before or after at any other boarding. TL;DR: owner is prejudiced against bully breeds, will tell you to your face and then not allow your dog to come back

I was really excited when this place opened. My dog has been going to the Barkshire in Troy since he was 3 months old. This location is much more convenient for my family. I jumped on the $99 unlimited 30-day daycare special when they first opened. About a week into it, I had my doubts. Nearly every time I looked at the camera, the staff was sitting on the play equipment on their phone. My dog would sit there looking extremely bored. When I brought it up to a staff member that my dog looked bored, she stated that I could sign up for enrichment sessions. I have to pay you to play with my dog? Why are you working at a doggie daycare? Today, I was in a pinch so decided to give them another shot after several months of not going back. I had since gotten a new phone so I called to get the invite code for the app so that I could view the cameras. Andy answered the phone and couldn't seem to understand what I was asking for. She thought that I wanted to change my phone number. Audrey got on the phone sounding extremely bored and again didn't seem to understand what I was asking for and told me that I could view the cameras on the website. She finally gave me the invite code after me being extremely frustrated and expressing this. 8 out of 10 times that I looked at the cameras, the staff was on their phone and sitting down. I watched my dog sit hopefully by the door waiting patiently to go out. I didn't see them take him out once. My husband called and spoke to Miata and let her know how upset I was. She advised that she would comp today's visit. When I got there to pick him up, I asked Heidi at the front why my dog hadn't been out all day. I was advised that they are taken out as soon as they get there and then not again after Group Play which ends at 5:00. I had dropped him off at 7:15. I was flabbergasted. Apparently, they expect the dogs to go to the bathroom inside. My dog won't do that. Heidi gave me my total which was $32. I informed her that I would go ahead and pay it even though Miata had said that today would be comped. I also advised that I would not be coming back. Heidi said, "okay that's fine have a great day!" with a big fake smile on her face. She then kept that grin on her face and spoke as sweetly as she possibly could to everyone else while I stood there dumbfounded waiting for my dog. I finally asked to speak to the manager and Miata came out with my dog. Miata appeared to sound understanding and listen to my concerns and expressed that she had walked around to her staff and advised that they should not be on their phones. I asked her what time she spoke to her employee about being on their phone. She stated a half hour ago. I showed her a screenshot from the camera 10 minutes before showing the employees still on their phone Nearly every time I've looked at the cameras at this establishment, the staff has been sitting and looking at their phones - so I have a really hard time believing that she doesn't think that happens- or that she even really cares. All of the public areas in the daycare have constant monitoring. To top it all off, once I got home, my dog made a beeline for his water bowl and drank for a full minute Non-Stop. I don't know if this means that they didn't provide water, or that the water was not refreshed regularly. At any rate, my dog seem desperate for his own water. I have to thank Pet Suites for showing me that not all Doggie Daycares are created equally.

This was around 9am and we were the only people there other than the staff - which we only saw 2 people. While our dog was getting evaluated and we filled out paperwork, I was observing the dog play area. There were 2 piles of poop in there when we arrived. I don't know how long they'd been there already. But 20 minutes later as we were getting ready to leave, those 2 piles had turned into at least 4 piles (that I could see). Nobody appeared to been observing the dogs let alone cleaning up after them. I asked the person at the front desk (asst. mgr?) about cleanup and he didn't seem at all concerned. He basically said someone comes around once in a while to clean up. Thankfully, my dog is not a poop eater - although I've had dogs in the past that were - and I can understand sometimes it may take a few minutes to get to cleanup. But this was just nasty. I wanted to like this place because our dog loves to play and is very spirited with other dogs. This chain seems to have a philosophy of letting dogs be dogs and regulate their own play unless things get out of hand. I think that's ideal as long as the dogs are screened first and are being monitored so someone can step in quickly if needed. I was just not confident that would happen here. The last straw for me was when my dog passed the evaluation but the staff member talked about sometimes using "corrections" with dogs. I am a believer in force-free training (positive reinforcement), and I understand there might need to be exceptions needed for emergencies when dogs must be separated quickly, but I'm just not ok with strange men giving my 16 pound dog a "correction" of any kind. Google the term if you want to know what it might mean, or better yet ask Hounds Town and make sure you're comfortable with it. They don't have live camera feeds available like some other places, so you are putting your trust in them, and if this was how things when down when they had a first time potential client, I can't imagine how much worse things might be at other times. We have tried 4 local places and still feel I haven't found the ideal doggie day care / boarding place. There have been a couple of acceptable ones, but this one would be a last resort for us.

Recently, my mother was hospitalized and needed time to recover in a skilled nursing facility. She boarded her dog, Niko, at a place in Troy close to her home. Niko has a history of seizures, and he had a small episode while he was there. The facility called to say they were not comfortable keeping him and that she needed to find alternate arrangements. My mother was already overwhelmed with her own health issues, and the added stress of finding a safe place for Niko was heartbreaking. I immediately called PSR, and they were just as incredible as I remembered. I spoke with Lace--who also worked at the Inkster location and even remembered my long‑lost baby Bella. She went out of her way to pick up Niko herself and made sure he had a safe, secure, loving place to stay. My gratitude for PSR runs deeper than words. They have always been the place I call "home" for my babies, and they proved once again why. "Thank you" will never feel like enough.
