Everything from our initial call through our first appt. was great. The front office staff reached…read moreout to let me know when they received the records from my former vet, and were always very professional and friendly. We were welcomed and shown into a room immediately, and our vet tech was wonderful. Our cat is a big old scaredy cat, so we really appreciated how kind and gentle both the vet tech and Dr. Tate were, and that they were even nice enough to wrap our cat in a blanket they misted in calming pheromones. One reason we left our last vet was because they kept trying to sell us on every test and unnecessary thing our cat didn't actually need. So, I was really grateful Dr. Tate did a great exam, told us possible tests (i.e. blood work options) and then let us make our decision without judgement. We're so grateful we found Dr. Tate!

Switched to this vet since much closer to my home. I found the vet Dr. Tate very nice. Sad to post…read morethis review. In the annual check-up she detected a heart murmur and "gravely sounds" in my 6 y/o cat's lungs. She said she didn't think there was a need for additional testing, and told me to keep an eye on his respiration rate - count it when he sleeps and call them if gets fast. I did that, and over the next few months called their office on 2 different occasions to report respiration that was just over the "fast" side. The person that answered the phone took the information and I was told there was not a concern. I brought my boy back for annual exam. The night before he had a bad coughing fit. I was told they did an x-ray and that his heart was enlarged and he was in hear failure. I was there over an hour waiting and knew something was wrong. I was sent to Blue Pearl in Southfield - told they had vet cardiologists there. (NEVER go to Blue Pearl - terrible!) Discovered the next day that Veterinary Cardiology Consultants had an office only a few miles north of Troy Vet Hospital! At Blue Pearl they diagnosed my boy with congestive heart failure / hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This was approx. $3,500 visit - after spending about $700 at Troy Animal Hospital. I followed-up with Vet Cardiologist Consultant's for my cat's care. In the following 11 months I've spent another $2,000 - $3,000 on consultations, echocardiograms, fluid aspiration, monthly medications, supplements, holistic care. My boy was in advanced heart failure and died two days ago. I've learned along the way that in that initial annual check-up at Troy Animal Hospital in November 2017 that the heart murmur and gravely sounds detected in his lungs were early & strong indicators of cardio myopathy developing. I wasn't even offered the option of additional diagnostic testing - I would have done it! Instead told she "didn't think it was necessary at this time." If testing had been done and treatment started then he could have lived a long and healthy life with condition management. Instead, his quality of life deteriorated fast - he died at only 8 y/o - and it cost me approx. $7,000 in that 11 months along with so much stress, sadness and grief. My heart is broken. My boy was one of those special cats - the kind even people who hate cats love. He deserved better. I understand mistakes are made in life but this was inexcusable. I called twice to report fast breathing afterwards and they weren't concerned!! Is this a matter of being too busy to give proper attention? Why not suggest testing to rule out a potentially deadly condition developing? I wish I had never stopped going to my previous vet who specialized in cats. My boy would be alive.

Wow! This is a great place for dogs! The facility is new, clean, very large, with lots of play time…read morefor the dogs. The Staff are all wonderful and my dog loves going here. They all monitor, engage and care for my dog and he always comes home tired and very quiet for the evening. The Owner Jim is very caring and engaging with the dogs and their owners. My pup stayed for a week and came home happy and tired out! Jim called the day I picked him up to tell me how he well he did while I was away. It made for a very positive experience and we are very happy customers at Happy Dog! Highly Recommend!

We were looking for a new place to board our dog after moving to the area. Saw lots of positive…read morereviews so tried it out. The very first time we brought our dog in, the owner Jim made a point of mentioning "I've had problems with that breed in the past but I'll give her a chance" Our dog is a pit mix, we've had her since she was 10 weeks old. She had stayed at other boarding facilities and has been well socialized, we have never had any issues with boarding or being at dog parks etc. We had our dog stay twice, when picking her up the other staff members always said she did well, never reported any issues to us. When we called to arrange boarding the third time, the owner answered and informed us he would not allow our dog to come back as "she doesn't do well here". No other information was given. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because we really liked the place, the dogs can go outside and the staff is generally kind and does a good job. It is a shame though that the owner is so prejudiced against certain breeds, and I feel that someone who really has that much experience working with dogs (as he claims) would know not to judge a dog based on breed but judge on a case by case basis. And if our dog really did have an issue, why were we not told when it happened? I find it hard to believe our dog randomly had an issue at this boarding facility, but never had any issue before or after at any other boarding. TL;DR: owner is prejudiced against bully breeds, will tell you to your face and then not allow your dog to come back
