June 28, 2025 My first visit absolutely the best gaming, collectible store I been to since I was a child, huge selection of new & used merchandise, from power cords to complete ready to go gaming consoles, wether you're buying or selling, you'll be hard pressed to find a better value... I only interacted with one very nice Lady at the counter, I'm bad with names, will update if I get her name as this is now my #1 gaming go to store, but I will never forget her as she was very polite, professional & relaxed, the atmosphere of the store is a mixture of peace & excitement cause you never know what you'll find, it's like a hunting in a treasure chest, I guarantee you'll walk out with a huge wishlist of reasons to return, it's a busy store, but I was there between 10:30-11am on a Saturday it wasn't crowded, which was nice as I'm not a people person per say... Bottom line you'll only find something hateful to say about this business or employee's if you're a selfish, hateful person to begin with... Smiles light the world around you... I literally went here on a whim. I've passed Disc Traders several times while going to the Chinese Food buffet right next door. Wow am I happy I happy that I finally went in. Disc Traders captures that nostalgic feeling that GameStop used to have like 15 years ago. First off, it smelled AMAZING (weird right?). Secondly, there were ample rows filled of movies, games, and action figures from every genere and console you can think of. Literally, 8 year old me was jealous of what I was looking at. I quite literally had to pace myself and NOT buy everything. I definitely will be a regular here. I wished that they had a GBA or a PS2 so I could buy some of the games, but it's cool; it'll buff. Honestly, I don't know how this is the first time I've been here . They have some great selections for most games and a large section of DVDs. They also have some amiibos for both Splatoon and Animal Crossing. My favorite area had to be the art. They had some awesome 3D looking art and some cool signs for a game room. I definitely want to come back to get an Animal Crossing sign. My husband ended up getting a face mask with a super hero logo on it. The staff was a bit busy and not exactly chipper but a lot of game stores have employees that act like they needed an extra cup of coffee. I try not to engage in addictive behaviors so I have never played electronic games (I think the quarters I burned playing in the arcades at the malls in my youth taught me that I could go down a dangerous path if I wasn't paying attention). So I have not had any experience buying or selling gaming platforms or cartridges. Nor do I buy and sell DVDs or Blu Ray discs (we do go to the movies an awful lot though). So I have no experiences negotiating with the staff here on those matters. But I do look for an occasional disc, and here I have had some luck. There are a modest collection of new, used, and misprint discs on the shelves. There are a handful of special edition and collectibles. I have, in the recent past, picked up a Axiom Insanity Proton as a driver and a Discraft Jawbreaker Challenger OS for a putter for a few dollars less than retail. Discs are organized in major groups so you might have to sit on the floor and search. Staff leaves me alone while I search and I would have no idea as to whether any of the employees play. The YELP map is wrong (it suggests that it's near the airport and a cemetery). The store is right next to Target on Beckley. read more

Purchased a ps3 controller for $20. Controller was determined to be non-functional when tested at home. On the phone I was told by an employee that all controllers are tested before being sold. No other ps3 controllers were available at $20 and I was told I would have to make up the difference after store credit was applied. I was told on the phone that the next available controller was $40. They agreed that this price difference was strange but stated I would have to make up the difference anyways if I wanted the controller. The manager stated that they would not exchange a ps3 controller that I bought with an identical ps3 controller if it just so happen to have a different price tag. Its not the store credit that pissed me off so much its the fact that you wanted a ID for the return. Great little shop that trades in all sorts of video games, game systems, dvds, cds, records, and disc golf accessories. They gave us a good price on an original used Xbox - if you take store credit they give you more - GameStop doesn't taken the original ones. There's lots of variety of games for PlayStation, Wii, Xbox 360 and more like N64, Wii U, etc., from around $3 and up. Located right next to the Target. read more

This location is kind of hard to find, tucked in the side of a strip mall. They have a decent selection, better than say, GameStop. The reason to come here is the staff. They are super nice, knowledgable, and will be straight-up with you when buying your used stuff. read more

Swapped out my cover art with damaged cover to rip me off. I was in Disc Traders in Battle Creek MI yesterday to trade in my Mint Condition GTA V and Mint Condition Saints Row IV for Xbox 360, I called in advance and they offered me $13.50 for GTA V (I didn't care cause sometimes there way off on there prices it sells for $15 used and $20 new online shipped when they charge $24.99 used) so I get there and the Wife goes about trading them in while my Son and I look for games and I go up there when there ready and they tell me $13.50 for both the GTA V and Saints Row IV, my mind was blown so I asked politely how that could be as I just called and was quoted $13.50 for GTA V alone and there is another game, then the worker gets all shitty with me with a terrible attitude and tells me my cover art was water damaged and that they deduct $2 for covers that are damaged (Even though they print them illegally for cents even if that were the case). First of all: I bought Saints Row IV from them in the first place for $14.99 it was Mint Condition cover included and has been sitting on my DVD shelf where it could have not gotten wet for only a month and I played it twice. Second: They gave me $12.50 (not the $13.50 they quoted me) store credit for GTA V and even if they deducted $2 for them swapping out my cover how is that game worth only $3 in store credit when I just paid them $14.99 for it? Granted there prices are higher than anywhere other than GameStop but how is it good business to charge over 3x what they pay for an item when they resell and give us pennies? All retail is what the company paid plus that same amount so if you buy a tv for 1000 at Best Buy they only paid $500 for it that's how retail works and it's acceptable as it pay's for rent etc but this company is a rip off charging over 3x what they pay on most items they also only pay 50 cents ea and less for those DVDs they sell for $3.33. I was also in there a couple weeks back when I heard the store manager talking about how he's glad he doesn't half to clean the bathrooms anymore and that it is a Woman's Job, personally I found it offensive as I own my own cleaning business and I have never heard something so stupid from a man his age. Needless to say I'll never step foot in this place again after they stole my cover art and replaced it with a damaged one I just took the game back cause I wasn't selling it for $1 and you can tell the guy just got pissed cause he couldn't rip me, he also tried to not even give me my store credit for the GTA V when I purchased 6 other items and checked out and this was all in front of the manager just standing there with the same crap face and attitude as always. So now I'm stuck with a game I can't even resell thank's to them. If you guys from Disc Traders are reading this let me tell you something, I have sold and bought items to and from you frequently sense the beginning and put up with a lot of your attitudes and crap but after this I will never step foot in your store and deal with your snobby unappreciative attitudes and a manager that is a male chauvinistic pig again, my Wife was also there when you stated that cleaning is a Woman's job how do you think that makes a Woman feel? This place is fishy. You got a bunch of kids (no management in the store over 30) sitting behind the counter just sharing their personal opinions and guranteed to give you a broken HDMI cable with ANY system you purchase from them. I'm starting to believe the employees are keeping the few good HDMI cables they get! Also to mention I came across a tik tok channel where the employees are recording and making fun of customers. For those who want the rundown, my experience was far from enjoyable. When I first was introduced to Disc Traders I was delighted at the idea of it. But although having a electronic store so close was convenient, the negative aspects far outweigh this. Besides games and movies, all electronics I have bought from this store have broken in a 30 day period. This included two PS3's (I was given the second because of the faulty first purchase) a pair of Turtle Beach headphones, and a Nintendo GameCube controller that broke within a time limit of 30 minutes. Beyond this on my most recent experience, I overheard a conversation happening between a few of the employees gossiping on my behalf over a miscommunication on my part. They did not stop even though I was clearly in earshot and looking at them. Frankly my heart didn't break writing this and it won't if this negatively effects them. read more
