Came into Perfect Storm on our mini adventure to Battle Creek because I can never pass up a tabletop spot. We came in to look at MTG cards and dice mostly, but we found so very much more. They have all the fixings to start you on a d&d adventure including dice, books and figurines. They have cards upon cards for magic the gathering along with the binders, card covers and card boxs. Love comics? They have those too! Best part? You can order things from their site to get sent to your home or the store and it even has a wishlist feature so they can let you know when they get something in stock! My husband was giddy- "Ace, look! I can shop from my computer!" So, if you have a nerdy significant other, stop into the store or check out their online shop to give your love an amazing gift, maybe a Valentine's gift. I wouldn't recommend. Place is filled with lots of drama unfortunately and sells overly priced product compared to other stores nearby. I've seen pretty bad hygiene issues especially from the staff. Honestly would just recommend a different store to enjoy your time. read more

This is a nerd's heaven (and I include myself in that statement). I'm not a big comic person, but I'm a collector of Funko Pops and a painter of Warhammer 40k. There are also some Magic and Pokemón cards and memorabilia. It depends on what you're looking for, but I'd say the prices here are reasonable. The employees were kind and asked if we needed help, but we were just looking around, so we didn't take them up on it. If you're not a nerd, this place might be scary for you. It's big and there are a lot of things that may be hard to understand. That said, if you're looking for an adventure, this is it! read more

Looking for something for my daughter, I stopped in to Perfect Storm and checked them out. A very large selection of comics on display here but not just the recents and the not-quite-recents, but a whole bunch of collectors editions in the appropriate packaging. Prices for some were in the $50 or so range, which could be high or not but I am quite sure they're in line with the various pricing books. Lots and lots of figurines and other accessories. A great local game store full of knowledgeable and friendly staff. A very inviting environment to bring new gamers and hard core gamers alike. Plenty of games in their demo shelf and lots of tables to set up and teach. I always stop here when traveling home to teach and play with family and friends. We visited the shop for the first time today for a Magic the Gathering draft event. It was pretty chaotic as they were also running a Yugioh event simultaneously with the Magic tourney, and also dealing with the onslaught of Free Comic Book Day visitors, hosting a child's fundraiser (this intrpid youngers was doing both a bake sale and a gaming carnival to fundraise for a puppy he wants to buy), and playing host to a wide array of other gamers (folks in the back were running a large tabletop pirate game, others were board gaming). It was noisy, chaotic and fun. The staff were super nice and did a great job projecting their voices above the din of all the gamers. This also meant that they were occasionally basically yelling to announce a round end for another game while you were trying to think about strategy for your game. The gamers we encountered here were pretty awesome, too, especially the last person I matched up with. He won two of our three matches but afterward gave me the prize -- a pack of Magic cards -- noting that he usually just takes a store credit when we wins anyway. When I express my gratitude and excitement, noting that my husband I actually don't have cards of her own and typically just play with our friends decks, he then went over to his book bag and grabbed a bunch of other cards for me including some rares and give me a pile of over 100 cards. What an amazing act of kindness for a stranger. La! I absolutely love it that they have demo copies of board games here that you can come play -- wish our local store in Kalamazoo had that same option. However, the board game variety on their shelves is pretty Limited. They were doing a buy 2 get a third half off sale on their board games and there were only two I was interested in purchasing, which was a bummer. Had they had all the games that they demo available for sale, I would have definitely purchased some games. They cover a lot of bases in a small space here, with figs, comics, Warhammer, D&D, board games, and collectible card games, and more. They also have some snacks and drinks available for purchase. It would be nice if they had a few healthier options like a hummus and pretzel pack. read more

Live in Kalamazoo and love our local shop, but had to expand my horizons and check out Perfect Storm. I had specific cards for a couple decks I was looking for and had a few older cards sitting around and collecting dust (Scalding Tarn-Expedition, Foil-Overgrown Tomb (Ravnica: City of Guilds), Foil-Thoughtseize (Iconic Masters)) you know just the normal things sitting around doing nothing. Anyways, great experience and great staff. Thanks for the trade, hope someone can put those cards to use. read more

I love this store! The employees are always so friendly and helpful. They have such a large selection of items, and my personal favorite, a bin of D&D miniatures for $1 each! How can you beat that? :) Everything is very reasonably priced and there really is something for everyone here. I absolutely love this place! I been visiting here for years and have played many Pokémon TCG tournaments, and brought many comics. The people here, both that work and visit is very nice and "noobie" friendly. I've never seen the place dirty or heard anyone complain. The Pokémon TCG prereleases are great too! I do wish Pokémon TCG here was more prevalent as the main focus of this place is magic and comics, but in all no matter what you play- Pokémon TCG to DDZ TCG they can help you or have tournaments for it! They also do DnD and many other table top stuff like warhammer. And, they are RIGHT NEXT DOOR to a Burger King so you can always get food without having to get in your car. But if you do want something else, this place is conveniently located that other food places is ether down the street(like Taco Bell, little Caesars, and long John silvers) and others are like less then 5 minutes away. I would highly recommend this place as it has an incredible atmosphere, and you can buy what you want and play other people and participate in competitive but friendly fun tournaments held weekly! If there is even an ounce of nerdiness(I mean who doesn't? We all watch marvel and dc movies, who doesn't know what Pokémon is? Nice & clean hobby shop. They are big and have lots of room , lots of flat tables and lots of model tables with sides. They have at least a little bit of everything , model kits. A medium amount of D&D, a lot of magic and figures of all kinds. They were friendly and helpful. read more
