I love this shop! All of the artists are extremely talented and full of personality. I got a piece across my shoulders a couple years ago from a guest artist there, and had wanted to go back ever since. I recently met up with Chipp and asked him to design a phoenix for me. I went in on Friday last week and started the piece. Not only did Chipp do an amazing design, he made the entire experience fun for me. Carlos, Dyonna, Rod, Chipp, everyone in the shop was amazing. My husband has had Rod tattoo him before, and is going back for another piece. We've both referred multiple friends who are also ecstatic with the tattoos they've gotten here. If small business ink shops were judged on skill alone, this shop would receive a great rating. Unfortunately for Disciple Tattoo, they require more than just skill to draw clientele. Their customer service is awful...they are often not in shop when they claim they will be (I had to make two trips to verify the art, because the original date and time I was given was forgotten by everyone. I arrived to a closed shop-despite arriving within posted hours of operation-no apology was issued, despite my inconvenience [hindsight: I should have let that be enough of a deciding factor....but I was drawn to the art, nonetheless]). In addition, the art I asked for and what I received were not the same-and no discussion regarding changes took place prior to the ink being laid. To add insult to injury, full price was charged. (Higher than other shops pumping out similar work, by the way). Despite seeing some tragic ink laid in other shops...I would still recommend potential clients to seek ink elsewhere, invest better research into the kind of shops you want to support and artists who value their clientele. Disciple Tattoo is definitely not one of those shops. In addition to horrible service, the business ethic of the shop supports homophobic slurs and misogynistic behavior. I would not recommend this shop to individuals concerned about a comfortable environment for all peoples. Only to the ones who find slurs and bias as credible business conduct. *Recently an offensive post to Disciple Tattoo's social media website was brought to their attention, in a rather civil and non-insulting way (basically, they were told it was not appreciated and continuation would result in lost support from followers)....The response from the owner states: "You must not have paid any attention when you were in the shop. And if you are offended. We don't want you in our shop anyway. So lighten up!" Prior to that comment, friends and family had spent over a thousand dollars with Disciple. They just don't value the opinion of anyone who doesn't agree with them, regardless of how much money their patrons spend there. Do yourself a favor...go to shop that won't care what your opinion is...but will still treat you with respect and decency. Choose a shop that doesn't place it's clientele in a situation that is uncomfortable and awkward. It's the least a small business ink shop should do anyway. read more

Just spent the majority of yesterday afternoon at Disciple Tattoo, getting my 1st tattoo. The experience was awesome and quite entertaining. From my 1st inquiry visit a month ago with DYonna, telling me about the lengths they go to in hygiene and reviewing my thoughts on my tattoo, to the final check out yesterday, telling me how to take care of my tattoo, everything was exceptional and completely explained. Carlos did a great job working with me for over an hour just designing the tattoo realizing how important it was, as it is a memorial tattoo for my daughter who passed in 2009. The tattooing, while not fun was no where near as bad as I imagined, I'd rather have a tattoo than almost any dental work. The best part is the tattoo is beautiful and will remind me daily of my wonderful daughter who I miss very badly. Thanks Carlos, Dyonna and the whole Disciple team...."You Guys Rock" read more

I've been tattooed in this shop twice. Once by Carlos and once by Rod. My second tattoo was scheduled with Carlos but he had to go out of town. Dyonna called me to let me know and asked if I would let Rod do the work. I was a little hesitant but Dyonna reassured me Rod would be great. I saw Dane on Monday for a coverup of a coverup. What I needed him to work with was a small dark, blurry flower coming out of what looked like an upside down black top hat. I had sported this embarrassment for almost 8 years. It was just behind the outside of my left ankle bone, about 3!" I brought him a photo of what I wanted: a dragon. and he worked with me and explained to me what would and wouldn't work. And why. Something no other tattooist has ever offered. It was a challenging tattoo. A lot of detail in a small area. But Dane CRUSHED IT! I couldn't be happier with it, and am proud to wear this artwork on my body. I have seen some work from this shop that I really liked so I thought I'd check it out for myself. I made an appointment to have Dane do a black and grey American flag on my forearm. When the day came I went in and had no problems explaining to Dane what was looking for. He gave me great artistic advice and we found something that I seriously liked. I was concerned on how it would fit my arm around another tattoo I already had on my arm but Dane made it a perfect fit. Dane and I sat down for our artistic journey and we had some great conversations and listened to some great music. Before you know it 3.5 hours flew by and my tattoo was done. Wen I got to see the final view of my tattoo I was blown away on how real it looked. Dane gave me the best tattoo and tattoo experience I've had to date and I have dozens. As if the whole experience wasn't enough to make me extremely happy, Dane called the next night to make sure the healing process was starting well. This tattoo is also healing much better than any of my others too. I have gotten dozens of compliments on the tattoo and I give everyone Disciple tattoo's shop info and Dane's name. I absolutely love getting ink done here. Both Dane and Carlos are very talented in their own styles. Their clean lines and detail is outstanding. My boyfriend has three pieces done by Carlos which all look spectacular. I have two pieces by Dane (my very first tattoo, the experience got me hooked. lol.), and a portrait of my cat by Carlos. All of the ink I've gotten here are my favorite pieces on my body. Dyvonna, Carlos's wife, is really nice and hilarious. After being alongside Carlos for as long as she has I think she has a really broadened knowledge on tattooing as well. She gives really great input and advice, honesty is something I really value in an artist. They really make you feel comfortable and welcome. They always are clean with their equipment and my boyfriend and I have never had any issues with the healing process unlike another tattoo shop we went to. This place is definitely our favorite, you will not regret getting work done here I can assure you. The cost may be more pricey than other shops, but you really get what you pay for essentially. read more

Got my first tattoo here, marvelous experience! It was done by Rob Whitesinger, and was a lightly accented black and grey image of the elfin character on the Jethro Tull, Beast and Broadsword album cover, and covers the right upper arm from shoulder to an inch above the elbow, with just a small amount , (the cape ends), going around the arm. Rod told me this style wasn't his forte', and no one had ever asked for this image, in spite of that he not did an INCREDIBLE job, but did his utmost to make me feel comfortable. Every modification I asked for was executed flawlessly! Rod has pictures, I highly recommend you stop in and check out everyone's work in this shop. Thanks Rod, I love it . Warning...a long read...but worth reading! If you are getting your first tattoo...Don't Go Here! I've spent 49 years of my life trying to overcome the worst personal struggles you can throw at a person and yet with the love and support of family and friends, I'm still standing, still fighting. Tattoos have a lot of meeting to people and it is something I had thought about for a while. I interviewed a number of artists and studios because this tattoo was really the crown jewel for a person who has overcome so many obstacles. When I met Carlos and his wife Dyonna, and they heard a little about my story, I felt connected to them and that they would deliver something very special for me. I had a great feeling about them and that they were different from the other studios I had interviewed. I visited their studio back in July and was told it would be approximately three months before I could get in to have the work done with Carlos. I was also told that a couple weeks prior to spending "all day" in the chair, they would reach out and begin working with me on the design which was to include a large piece on my chest, shoulder/short sleeve, and part of my ribs. Two weeks prior to my appointment, I heard nothing, so I sent a very detailed email about my background, sample artwork and a song I had written that was to be incorporated into this very personal piece. I never got a response to the email. Nothing. I went to the shop last week on Tuesday September 20th and met Carlos and discussed again what I was looking for (he hadn't read the email..albeit it was a rather long email). He told me he would look at it and have artwork for me the following Friday, September 23rd, and he would email it since I travel a lot. Friday came and went and I heard nothing. I sent a follow-up email on Monday letting them know that I would need to switch shoulders because of some impending surgery from a recent sports injury. An associate told me he would be on Tuesday, September 27th. So I stopped in on Tuesday and was told that he wouldn't be in now until Wednesday. I sent another email concerned that it was two days prior to my appointment and to confirm that I needed to switch to the other shoulder and again, no response and no artwork. I never heard anything back. So two days prior to my appointment I called again to inquire why I hadn't seen any artwork and was told by Dyonna that they might need more time? Time? I had made the appointment three months prior. They had artwork and ideas two weeks before the appointment and I made myself available multiple times with no success. Dyonna told me she would check with Carlos and get back with me. I got a call back from Dyonna later on Wednesaday and was told to still come in for my appointment as Carlos would be ready by Friday, September 30th. He had read my email and was working on something special. I also reminded them I needed to make sure they switched shoulders. I'm a very busy person and it takes an act of congress for me to get a day off. I arrived September 30th as instructed to find a nice partial design for part of the tattoo but Carlos indicated he really wanted more time as the drawing, although nice, was very incomplete and only represented a portion of the work to be done. Why had I taken an entire day off for him to tell me he needed more time...it has only been three months in the making? I had taken the day off and was fully prepared to have my work done. I shaved my chest, had brought music, books, everything to make it through a long day of tattooing...but unfortunately I was really discouraged by the lack of preparation after I had put in so much effort to make my first tattoo meaningful. Dyonna indicated it was because I had switched shoulders and implied Carlos had been working on the design a long time. I later learned this wasn't true as Carlos hadn't started the design until 48 hours prior to the appointment which he told me himself. The other excuse I got was "well we were on vacation for five days" which to me means nothing. I booked this appointment over three months ago. This is on you. Carlos did make an effort to try and reschedule me, but the reality was I had a specific date set aside and have a traveling schedule that wouldn't allow me to be back in there for another month or two. I returned later that day to get my deposit back and was told by his wife Dyonna that they are non refundable despite their lack of preparation. She also made rude and demeaning comments. Carlos called back later that afternoon to apologize and to try and get me to change my mind, but after being so unprepared and then treated rudely by his wife I simply said no. Update 7/20/17 Dyonna's unprofessional response is typical of this establishment. Perhaps I should publish the threatening text messages from Carlos I have saved stating you would not publish personal information if I removed this review? Pathetic! read more

I was in the tattoo shop at the same time as the user who made the distasteful comment about Carlos, but as a witness, I found Carlos to be very respectful and humble. Additionally, I witnessed this adolescent girl to be extremely and overly aggressive and unreasonable.
