Which is not something I believe the OWNER should be saying to anyone as you do not know what ANYONE is going through. I want to thank Mike for his help on removing a rounded out drain plug on my suv, I tried to do it in my driveway and couldn't they were super busy and he said if I could wait 5 minutes he would have a lift open,he pulled my car in and used a special tool to loosen the plug,I was able to finish the job at home ! he could have sent me away saying they were too busy but he kindly helped me out and I'm greatful for that it's a great service center thanks again Tom R. read more

I've been using Discount Auto Center for oil change, tires and other repairs. On the way to get my oil changed from Point Pleasant Beach I broke down in colts neck. When they got my car they did a test and the transmission was shot .2 years old and 11000 mile out of warranty. They handed me a copy of a service bulletin from July 2021 not to sell any cars on the lot. I bought mine in January. So the team at DAC talked me into taking it to GM losing 5400. We've been going to them for as long as we can remember. They know my car better than I do. Very trustworthy and honest.

We used to go to this place for several years and were really happy with service and people. But it turned out this place is care about the money only. After major repair at this place my car started to get reoccurring problem with bearings. After changing (and being charged for parts and labor) them twice had to go to dealer and they found out first installation (major repair) was done wrong and started to cause all sets of problems. Also, at discount auto care I was told it is safe for me to drive even with the noise from bearings. Turned out my wheel was nearly falling. I could get into really bad car accident just because we trusted the place shouldn't. We spent extra $4000 just because of the mistake they made and when we tried to say it to the owner, he didn't listen and just blamed the dealer trying to kill small businesses and didn't admit that was their mistake. Another episode happened with the other car we have. A/C didn't work and we were told we need to change compressor (estimate $770). We had it done for $130 at another place, because they actually looked instead of blindly changing (and charging for everything). Turned out compressor was perfectly fine, but not connected. I have all the screenshots and pictures as proof if someone is interested in details. Please, please, be aware, they seem nice and friendly and acting on your behalf, but they will use your trust just to get extra dollar. read more

I strongly recommend against discount auto center because they tried to sell me unnecessary work and left me wondering if they may have done worse because i turned it down. the owner is very personable and charming which lulled me into a false sense of security and i went back for an oil change even though he had priced out unnecessary work - rear struts and rear brakes - on the previous oil change 6 months earlier. at the time it was discussed those things could wait, but when i looked into them i discovered they were completely unnecessary. perhaps i should never have gone back for another oil change but people rave about this place in a local facebook group and i thought those items would be discussed with the owner. maybe his mechanic made a mistake about the rear brake shoe thickness (which has about 40% left), and in this car those rear struts may leak a little but still work just fine and don't need replacing. The owner initially said he'd look after my car and let me know when things would need work soon, so work he priced out for me in writing the previous visit certainly fell into that category. but no such discussion took place, only his mechanic telling me my cv joint needed replacement and my rear struts were leaking. i still wanted to believe i could trust this place and told the mechanic i didn't care about the rear struts but foolishly allowed them to do the cv joint replacement. However the next morning my car made all kinds of strange noises, vibrations and rattling at odd times and in various stages of acceleration and shifting. and while i have no proof anything was done to cause it they did try to sell me unnecessary work (and i recall the mechanic reacting oddly when i told him i didn't care about the rear struts), so it's not that much of a stretch to suspect. And the car ran like a top when I brought it in. but i feel their business model is to try to transfer the maximum amount of money they can from your wallet to theirs - and me being retired on a fixed income driving a 20 y/o car (that had been meticulously maintained at the dealership prior to dealing with this place) makes their behavior that much more egregious. i even heard the owner telling his workers how he was trying to make his "end of month number", which he then explained to me was his attempt to make $1 more each month than that month the previous year. and how do you do that? well, now i think i know. my advice is stay away from this place. read more

I found this place about 6 months ago and thank god I did. Everyone there is very knowledgeable and explains what's wrong and what's needed to repair it. I used them to fix my car and was ripped off by them. work that was supposedly done for my car was not and I found out when I had to take my car in for the same problems that I had taken my car to them to fix. A wheel alignment was done but after 100 miles my car was not aligned anymore. I had to have it redone and found out it was not done properly. read more

I have been a customer of DAC since 2003. That was 7 cars ago! Tony has always done right by me and whomever I recommended to their business. It's hard to find an auto shop that isn't trying to upsell you and just do the work you need. If that's what you look for, this is the place. My only regret these days is that I live and work quite a ways away from where they are now. But if I have a pressing issue, I still make it a point to go there, as Tony and his staff always get it right all the time for us! read more

Hello! I live here locally and have been to many mechanics in this area. None of them have treated me with as much respect, professionalism, and knowledge than Discount Auto Center. Tony and his whole team deserve a lot of props for being honest, fast, and efficient. The quality is very nice and they don't take advantage. If I bring my car in and ask them to simply check it out, they tell me what I need or don't need. I remember the most critical moment for me was when I choosing a mechanic was when I brought the car in to get it checked out, and they said "you look good! No need for any work!" They gave me a time to get rechecked. Most mechanics always find "that issue" and try to get money! But Discount doesn't do that. They have fixed multiple things and my car runs great! Always honest, reliable and affordable! Our go to mechanic!! They are very thorough and will let you know exactly what you need. Safety first. My first experience with them was in 2010, I brought my sienna in for a tire repair. Noticing I had children, he checked my brakes and rotors for me. He advised I should get them done as he did not feel I should drive around with kids in the car with them being so bad. I felt so safe and comfortable with these guys!! And have used them ever since! Unfortunately I have been to this garage many times. Not for their service but the many problems of my Chevy Impala. They have always been honest with me and have corrected most of the problems at a reasonable price. Recently I had a problem they diagnosed for 2 days and came to the conclusion of is a dealer situation. They charged me nothing although they spent hours trying to remedy the problem. Took the time to inform me what to tell dealership so I won't get ripped off. I do recommend this place, and thank them for being so careing. read more

I accidentally on purpose met Tony @ DAC. My son was a customer via his significant other & family. I acquired my son's car before he moved out of state. I was recently having multiple issues and since the vehicle repair history was with DAC , I decided to bring it to them. After they had the time to look at the vehicle, Tony called and he explained the cause & effect of my issue(s). I was thoroughly impressed because I've never been to a mechanic who explained this... and in terms I could understand; certainly not my regular mechanic. Ummmm NO! DO NOT GO HERE. They screwed up a simple oil change. They seized the bolt to my oil pan and now I have to get my whole oil pan replaced. They have a history of horror stories like mine. I had an issue with the work that they did, my front end was shaking because the tire were not balanced properly, Tony asked me to bring the car back in and they fixed it. Roy has been very honest with me. The repair has been much less than expected. My friend went there and told him she needed brakes and he checked them and said no she didn't. Since they pulled the tires off they rotated them. All she paid for was the oil change. I have referred a few people there with no complaints. read more
