This is such a fine establishment. I came in a little hesitant because we had just left Good Guys Gun Range on State Street due to being treated like TRASH, for NO REASON. (Literally, they said 'are you married? then you don't get a discount' my husband joked and said 'oh, yeah, ha-ha, I meant we aren't married!' And the guy said 'you're a liar and I don't want you here.') We ran out of there and I was scared to go to another gun range. We came here and EVERYONE WAS SO UNBELIEVABLY KIND. Super patient, super nice, trained us incredibly well. I recommend this place to EVERYONE. read more

First, I want to give this place 4 stars, but I would not highly recommend it to a friend or novice shooter. I went here to the range shooting and to explore available handguns. I have been a few times. Staff is friendly and helpful in looking at firearms. Firearm selection is decent. One thing that irked me when I went to the range and bought their ammo is the staff asked if I would buy an opened box of ammo that they put together from bulk ammo, and bring back the holder so they could refill with ammunition after. I said yes, but they did not give me any discount on the ammo over new in the box ammo when I asked about price and the ammo was mixed- two brands, which I realized once I was at the range. Just a bit of annoyance doing them a favor and getting nothing in return shouldn't it be the other way around? PROS: I love the extra targets in the shooting range which are hung by rope or wire. Less traffic at the range, but maybe I went at the right time. Cheaper price for the range than other locations nearby. CONS: Limited handgun rental options. They have enough standard handguns that you would not notice your first few times, but if you want to try a wide variety of guns I would not recommend it. (Yes, they have glocks and XDs, and other favorites to shoot). The range itself is old. The cardboard backing a were all but destroyed so that narrowed which lane to use and the lane I chose wasn't working- not fun to figure out once you setup all your fear. The last is ammo is behind the counter so it's not convenient to look at and compare the prices. Once I got going everything was fun. Again, I loved the pricing and the extra targets in the back (some small and not easy to hit). read more

The owner actually helped me out and took the time to explain to me the different options for a concealed carry gun. They even let me test out a few guns for free as long as I bought the ammo. I used to come here several times a week as the manager there is what makes this establishment a 5-star establishment. I wish I could come here every day out of all of the other FFL dealers and ranges I have visited in Provo but due to medical emergencies, I have not been here in awhile and I forgot the name of the manager but look for the younger manager there, he usually wears an FNHesrtal hat. The prices and variety of products sold here have a greater range in variety than all the other ranges here in Provo. The price and selection of firearms are fairly decent and while it might not be the best range, the experience, and the knowledge that the manager here has to offer is what really makes up for the untapped potential Discount Guns & Ammo has to offer at this location. If you are looking to purchase a firearm or visit the shooting range, I highly recommend at least stopping by here before making that purchase or range membership. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I ordered a gun online, it was supposedly in stock so I was told it would be at the Salt Lake store in 3-4 days. I waited a week and called to check if my gun was ready for pick up. No one at the store knew what I was talking about and had no idea how online orders work. I was told I need to speak with a manager who will call me back. I waited a few days and after no call from a manager I called back. The manager found my order but said he didn't know where my gun was. He was going to research this and call me back. I got a call from a different manger later who said my order was lost with a different larger order and they will call when it's ready for pick up. It had been well over 10 days now and I wondered if I should just cancel my order and go through someone else. ( I wished I had done this and not given Discount my money). I had to call back again a few days later and was told my gun will be ready for pick up in a few more days. The day I was supposed to pick up my gun I called to make sure. I was again told my gun is not at the store and I should call the Provo store since they handle all online orders. I called the Provo store and spoke with a Manager who didn't seem to care that I was a customer and spent hundreds of dollars at their business. I was told my gun was at that store but the delivery driver wasn't making deliveries that day, my gun should be in Salt Lake soon. I was a bit pissed and expressed my discontent for them but he just didn't care and hung up the phone. I called Salt Lake the next day and after over 2 weeks my gun was ready for pick up. I came into the Salt Lake store and was greeted my an employee who asked if I needed help. I told him my name and that I was here to pick up my gun, he got a little wide eyed and said "oh it's you we've been waiting for". I honestly thought about telling them to refund my money and I will buy the gun through a dealer who doesn't have their head up their ass. No manger came out to explain or say sorry. I obviously didn't expect much after dealing with them for the weeks I did, but I was thinking maybe they will be cool and give a free day at their range or something, but no these morons could care less. I would honestly go somewhere else, I will never use them again and have told and will continue to tell people about my experience. There are lots of gun stores in Salt Lake, many are much better than Discount. Save yourself time and money and shop elsewhere. read more
