Lately it's been hard to keep my 17-year-old Shih Tzu happy. He barks in his angry at everything. He was also a hot mess today with crunchy fur around the face from rolling in. God knows what. But there was not a complaint out of him getting groomed today at discount pets. They have graciously cleaned him up quickly and he comes home happy. I've never even gotten a biting report when I know my dog bites. He's not a big fan of pointy scissors near his eyes. First time taking our barky rescue to a groomer and we weren't disappointed! Ozzie was very understanding of our dogs vocal tendencies and gave him a really cute cut! He figured to do the teddy bear cut on his own and I appreciated that cus I had no idea what type of cut would look good on my dog. They didn't ask about vaccination or anything but ours is fully vaxxed and flea prevented so we weren't too worried. If yours isn't, I'd probably just make sure to ask them what to do. They had us wait in the parking lot to pick up our dog at our car. Ozzie came out to pick him up and was done in 1.5 hours. Dog came out looking fresh and smelling great. I've been taking my 2 girls here for the past 4 years! They always do an amazing job. Last year my baby girl had puppies and I advised them of this, they made sure to complete her grooming quickly so she could get home to her newborn puppies. Recently i adopted a semi aggressive male terrier mix and they always get him to calm down during his grooming to the point where he doesn't need a muzzle. So accommodating, affordable and friendly. I bring both my German shepherd and my small poodle. My 8 year old German shepherd has always needed to be muzzled to get his nails clipped with previous groomers and he allows the discount pet staff to clip his nails without being muzzled. They always try to avoid shaving my small poodle unless he's super matted which I appreciate because other places would just shave him and not bother to brush him out, he always comes out looking like a cotton ball. I have previously come here about 2 or 3 times. And I loved coming here because the male groomers had always been so gentle with my dog when trimming his nails. Unfortunately this time, a young female groomer serviced my dog and cut his quick. I understand that it happens, what bothered me is the fact that she didn't think to tell me that it happened. And judging by how much he was bleeding, I doubt she put anything on it to stop the bleeding. I noticed as I was driving home when my dog wouldn't stop licking his paws and I saw blood spots all over his carseat. Now I'm stuck looking up what to do. As Im sitting here watching him, I've found other nails that she cut too close and she cut the skin between his actual pads. Due to this bad experience, I will not be returning. If you do choose to come here, I suggest sticking with a male groomer. read more

Love this place! I was previously using a mobile groomer. It's a hassle to take them to a groomer because I have 3. Yikes, I know! Last time I heard her being mean to them, and they were always terrified to get groomed. They would shake and put their ears down, so I knew I had to find someone new. Been taking my dog to them for a couple of years now, and I love the fact that they do walk ins but yesterday 2/13 Monday I decided to go to Anaheim location since the Santa Ana location was closed. And I got there right at 9 but I called while I was outside the shop to make sure they could take a walk in and the girl told me she'd call me back in 15 min, she didn't so I called back at 9:28am while I was still outside in my car and spoke to the girl again she said they couldn't take a walk in since they were short staffed and booked I said that's fine and she offered to make an appointment for me I said sure and to make it for the Santa Ana location at 9:00am she confirmed and now I'm here 2/14 at Santa Ana location 9:00am on the dot and apparently nobody will be at this location till 11:00am. I called the Anaheim location back and they said they've got no appointments nor are they able to help me even tho I've clearly made a appointment with the girl I spoke to on the phone.. now the Anaheim location are unable to take me in.. even tho it's their mistake.. Edit- I would of called Santa Ana to book but they are closed Monday so I asked the girl from Anaheim location to book me for Santa ana one and she said no problem I know y'all don't offer curbside but before I walk in to y'all's salon I always call even if I'm outside just to make sure you are able to take walk in and If you are not able to I leave or I try to schedule if I can since I'm busy.
