The order taker didn't explain what a "certificate is"...just added it to the invoice...I would explain that as an option and let the customer decide. When I picked my car up, he said, turns out we didn't have load range C, so we just installed load range E instead...telling me they are less expensive due to mass production. Again, not telling me what the difference is in terms of how I drive (again, call me to discuss). I kept the tires and the certificates...but walked away feeling like I was railroaded and should have made a wiser purchase...Fool me once! read more

I love Discount Tire! They're always so nice and easy to work with and I've always felt very welcomed. Unfortunately a back of the house mechanic there thinks it's okay to approach me about my car and ask if my partner was my boyfriend. When I said yes he proceeds to fully address the issue directly to my boyfriend as if I wasn't right in front of him, capable of understanding the simplicity of the problem. These guys saved my day. In town from far away, tire is clearly leaking slowly. Not a crisis, can fill it and drive, but clearly have an embedded puncture. Search for tires and this is the first one that comes up near us. We didn't have an appointment, which they take, but they said they could probably take us in in a short while. We waited for a bit and they were able to see us. Patched us up and then surprise surprise, no charge! What the what?! I didn't understand, how could it be free? But it was. Didn't even matter where the tires were bought. All they asked is that we consider them the next time we need tires. (Which we did, btw, but at a different location.) read more

I'm always able to get work done here last minute if I get a flat etc. I've purchased several sets of tires here over the past 10+ years for various cars. Get the tire warranty. It only cost me $25 to replace a tire that would have been $100+ otherwise when I got a big fat nail in it. I've used Duscount Tire in Duluth several times for tires. I own numerous vehicles from a 1947 Ford to a 2024 Chev. not to mention 6 trailers. I have had satisfactory service prior to this recent service. I purchased 4 Cooper tires for my 2020 Ram which came to $1,400. I stated I wanted the white lettering facing in since this is a "blacked out truck". They put them on with white lettering facing out and were too busy to fix their error. I live 30 miles away so wasn't please. I was also charged for 4 tire insurance "certificates" to the tune of well over $200 which I did not request or want so had to get that removed. My TPMS did not reset so I had them synchronize that again, but again it failed. They insisted all my tire pressure monitors went bad even though I had never had any problems prior to having these tires installed. They replaced them all at my cost, but again they did not reset. Now I questioned them about all of them going at once and felt this just doesn't happen in a 3 yr old truck with 25,000 miles. Evidently they felt it did so I went along with it against my better judgment. I'm am 100% positive my originals were fine. Now either they need more training on TPMS or they knew the originals were most likely good, but still had me purchase new ones. Either way it was enough of a negative experience that I will look elsewhere for tires from this point on. And with 12 cars and trucks, 6 trailers I am purchasing tire quite often. I will say they are always very polite, but I need a shop with more experience and/or honesty. read more

I bought a set of tires for my truck bI had been waiting on a newer set of tires to swap on my truck for a month now. I called discount tire today and was notified that they are under new management now and will be handling things. I found that my tires were probably never ordered. Nick was very helpful, he ordered my tires from Michelin and told me they should be received in about a week. He helped with the exchange fee by waving any extra charges that would of cost me from swapping them out. This will be my 3rd set of tires in a year and I plan on returning every time I need new ones. read more

I can not tell you how awesome this place is! When no one else could help me they did. We were in town and woke up to not one but two almost flat tires! We had a compressor and inflated. I called 4 places and no one could help me until afternoon. I call Discount tire and they said they could help me right away and be in and out within an hour. I hate to give a one because it is actually not about the store itself. From the other reviews the staff/store seems fine overall. The low rating is actually due to their phone number. I tried 4x in a 48 hr period to contact the store and bring my vehicle in for a new set of tires. I had an apt for 4 days from now, but needed to bring it in early due to one tire having a flat. In all 4 call attempts, no one picked up and I waited over 10 mins on hold per call. Knowing all the shops are busy, I could not risk having my car towed there only to be told it would have to sit in their lot for 4 days until my appt. Because no one answered their phone in 40 mins of holding, I was able to get my car into Tires Plus down the road whom whole also very busy, but actually answered the phone and wanted my $$ so they got a $900 Tire/Alignment check/New Wipers sale from me. I'd be willing to try Discount Tire in the future but they first need to be accessible via a phone number b4 I give them a chance. read more

Often, the Duluth location won't pick up the phone. I tried two days in a row. After 5 phone calls with an automatic message saying "hold" followed by another 20 rings, I gave up. Let your imagination wander. If the employees don't give care to grab a call, do you think they care about doing a good job? I have my doubts. I have been dealing with Discount Tire, same store, for over a decade. Up until recently I have been quite satisfied, but over the last 18 months to 2 years the store, or the store approach has changed. I have noticed that whenever I go in for a rotation I am told I have a bad tire that's unsafe and needs to be changed. Even though I have noticed no issues driving. So, the first couple times I gave in. Then, because I was suspicious, I took one of the tires they told me was "bad" to another garage to see if they could install it on a rim as a spare. They checked the tire, said it seemed fine even though it was used, installed it and it balanced out fine. Now it's been on the car they took it off of for quite some time and it is fine. Our last visit, just a month ago, has put me off them for good. My wife brought our truck in to get a slow leak fixed and to have tires I bought and had installed there rotated. The last thing I told my wife was not to fall for the "bad" tire routine. Well when she brought it in they told her ALL 4 tires were bad, that the one with the slow leak was leaking because it was worn badly, and that the tires were 9 years old and need to be changed anyway. My wife just shook her head and took the truck home. The next day I took the truck to a locally owned service provider and without mentioning the Discount Tire problems asked him if he could fix the slow leak, and give me an assessment on the condition of the tires overall. The slow leak was a nail, they fixed it. He also told me my tires were fine, had about 40% of the tread left and didn't need to be changed for awhile yet. I went home and dug out my receipt and the tires are under 5 years old and have just under 33,000 miles on them. So, beware, they are using a new tactic to increase profits. I was with my buddy in his 2015 Lincoln Navigator. We had a flat tire and stopped at Discount Tire. He needed a new set of specialty tires which unfortunately Discount Tire could not get before we had to leave early the next am. Although we were clearly not going to buy tires from them they gave us a place that might have the tires and even called that place for us! Long story short, they did several other things for us at no charge. My buddy plans to buy a new set from Discount Tires in the cities and I plan to buy my next set from Discount Tires. I came here on Nov. 23rd at 1230 pm. I paid and they told.me about 7 hrs. There is was ppl that came in after me and they were done with there work already. All I needed was 2 snow tires to put on. It's so FUKIN ridiculous on how they say "First come first serve", thats BS. I'm still here at 830 pm. Not worth comin here if they have ppl get done before u even if you've been there first. It was recommended for me to go here to get a new battery installed for my car. The price ended up being close to $300. I thought this was a bit much..but grudgingly told them to go ahead. I also needed an oil change. While this was supposed to be getting done, the gentleman behind the counter comes over and tells me that they found several more things wrong with my car and the estimate would be around $2900 and I also needed four new tires because the tread was illegal on one and I'd probably get pulled over for it. The repairs he said I needed had previously been done in another state 2 months prior. Then the service guy walks out and says to him...."ITS HER LUCKY DAY"....."WE FOUND MORE THINGS WRONG WITH THE CAR.....BLAH BLAH BLAH".....I asked what the cost was for ALL the other things that were wrong....He told me he'd tell me when I paid for the battery installation and oil change. I proceeded to pay and he "slowly" folded up the estimate for the other repairs that they told me I needed......I unfolded it and shook my head. I found 4 tires for $600 less than what they quoted me..that were actually WAY better tires and I got another place to put them on.... and the other repairs that they quoted me weren't even an issue at the other shop and I haven't had any problem since. read more
