Ladies bring a man. I was told the tire I had checked needed to be replaced AND because I had all wheel drive I needed to replace all for tires at an estimated cost of $400. I am a single mom who lost my job in January. Thankfully I got a second opinion and didn't spend any money. The discount tire told me this was a safety issue and he was concerned if I left the store on my current tires. All is fine. I drove 1500 miles back to Colorado without any safety issues. I am from OC and I was driving back home from San Diego when my front right tire decided to separate and shake my truck uncontrollably from when I walked in the door and drove off was 37 minutes with two new tires that I payed only $267 out the door. Very professional and walked me through all the options of warranties and different tires they offer. I came in after I blew my tire on the highway and replaced it with a spare. After explaining my situation, the staff inspected my damaged tire and told me it was irreparable. However, he informed me that my spare was full-size and that I will not need to buy a new one from them, suggesting I wait and find out if there is a warranty on my car that would allow a free replacement tire. I thanked him for providing me with the best solution in my best interest, and he proceeded to tell me that helping me save money was priority. This was an extremely positive experience and I cannot recommend this place enough for putting customers first. read more

Ok so I went to discount because my car light turned on telling me I had low air pressure. I show up and Ren is my associate helping me. He tells me my pressure was low no big deal but my tires were on the boarder of worn out (at least the front). This was totally true I could see the wear. Although the back were fine. So I asked if he could get the same tires that I had on the back to match. They didn't have any there in stock he found some at another store. It was too late in the day to call since the other tire place was closed. In the morning they let me know the tires would be available. I made an appointment and they installed them the next day. It was so easy and great service. Really happy I went with them. I especially want to thank Matthew and Ren for getting it done before I left town for the weekend. The name says discount but I didn't receive discount service. I drive a Mercedes and I really trust the tires... they are the same the deanship had put on my car. read more

Found nail in my tire the other day so I scheduled an appointment for a repair at 12:30PM today. Dropped the vehicle off at 12:25 with the technician and he confirmed my mobile phone number and said he would send me a text when the repair was done. I thanked him and went to several of the surrounding businesses to kill the time like I always do. An hour and a half later I still hadn't received the text message informing me the repair was finished but I decided to head back and wait in the lobby area. I saw my vehicle in the lot and it was another 10-15 minutes before I could get someone to check on the status of my repair. Employee could tell I was upset and said they had just finished the repair. I said that wasn't true and asked him when it was finished. It was finished over an hour before but they "forgot" to text me. I have a 3 month old at home and took the day off work to get my tire fixed so my wife was juggling working from home and watching the baby. Been a loyal customer for 15 years and I understand mistakes happen but this one cost me time and money and really pissed me off. read more

I have bought tires from this Discount Tire store on numerous occasions. I went in to discuss a price match and immediately was given an upsell pitch on a tire that has received several negative reviews on line. I used Consumers Report in considering what tire I was interested in, but the salesman only downplayed this tire. Included in the price was a $100 for a warranty that I had no interest in and was told it could not be removed to reduce the cost of the tires they proposed. I was sent to Solana Beach Discount Tire because the tires were not in stock at Chino Discount Tire store. Only to find the prices per tire significantly more expensive, $189 vs. $151. One would think, same company, same prices right? Well, the manager would not match the price. I was then told that if I wanted the original price, I would need to go back to Chino or find another Discount Tire store in that region. Also, this was not some random price quote, it was a price directly from the company's website. We pulled up the websites from each region clearly showing the price variance. I was then told that Discount Tire will match another company's price but not their own. "We don't compete with ourselves." This sounded ridiculous, so I called other Discount Tire stores and asked if this was common policy. The other stores said that was crazy and would look into it. After calling around, I get a call from Solana Beach saying that they will now honor the lower price. One star for being jerked around for an hour by the manager Bruce. read more

They were absolutely fantastic! My "Low Tire Pressure" light kept coming on in my car so I took it in to this Discount Tire location and they took a look and said I had a nail in my front tire. They said it would take 45 minutes, and it took exactly that long. I really appreciated the accuracy and timeliness. We have always bought our tires for our variety of vehicles for many, many years from Discount Tires.. We live within walking distance from the Solana Beach Discount, so we prefer to go there for convenience. However we have been turned off again and again from the sales job we get regardless of what we are there for. We are the customer, and when we need a rotation, and that is all we need or want, we resent the attempt to try to sell us tires. This has happened so many times when there is clearly plenty of tread life left, and when we are in there for rotations or balance or repair. Even when I say that all I want is to have the tires rotated, they pressure a sale of a complete set of tires, all under the guise of concern for my safety. Hey, let me decide when I need and can afford tires. The manger is the worst at it. He once said he could not sell me the 2 tires I wanted because of concern for my safety; he simply would not and could not do it. I left there and went to the Discount off 78 where they supplied me with 2 tires that fit in my budget and it was another year and a half before I actually needed more tires. In the past, when I have gone in to price a complete set of tires and have the specifics of what I want, they feverishly attempt to sell up. I have left the Solana Beach Discount now more and more times because of their sale tactics . I take my business to the Discount off 78 in Oceanside; they work with what the customer wants, gives suggestions based on the car (of course) and customers' driving habits, and work with the customer on pricing. read more

I went to get my front two tires replaced this evening and realized when I had gotten home that both of my front wheels were scratched!! I went to call back and complain before taking my car back and someone finally answered the phone saying "were closed" and hung up on me. My wheels were in mint condition before I took my car there and now there much less than mint. Other than that every time I go in, my wheel caps for the tire pressure are always missing and I have to remind them every time to put them back on which they lose consistently. These workers don't know what they're doing at all and are probably hired with very little experience. If you have a nice car, DON'T take your car here ever! I'm going in tomorrow to see if they will even admit to the damages which they probably won't but will see how things go. If I could rate them a zero star I would. Customers beware! read more

I went to the store and couldn't get my tires put on because of the wait. So I scheduled an appointment for the next day and was told the tires were in stock. When I arrived for my appointment I was told they don't have the tires in stock. I spoke to the manager who then tried to put me in more expensive tires, and the ones I originally was putting on were hi performance already. He said he would make me a deal but it was ridiculous. They wasted my day after I rescheduled my work schedule to make the appointment happen in the first place. And by the way, the tires I had on car I bought from them and had a 40,000 mile warranty. They needed to be replaced at 26,000 miles and they wouldn't honor the warranty. And I was going to buy new ones anyway. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau for unethical practices. I've tried to work with this company. I've been to their stores 6-8 times in the past two months (Solana Beach and Encinitas). I was just trying to get some after market wheels. But the customer service has been terrible. I'd like to think that a company that specializes in tired and wheels would be paying attention, but they're not. Picture long waits in line, waiting for service, with only one other customer in front of you, and absolutely no acknowledgement that your there, no "we'll be right with you" or "it'll be just a minute". Today for example I had an appointment to get some replacement wheels put on because my original set I bought from them cause my steering wheel to shake at highway speeds. I showed up on time for my appointment, stood there for 15 minutes without even a "hello" (they did manage to flirt with the cute girl in the waiting room though), at which point I left. Any company who's employees are so inattentive and distracted from work, I can't trust to work on my vehicle. If they mess it up again due to inattentiveness, I need to come back again. I've already given them my vehicle for 8+ hours, just for a set of wheels. There was a decent manager at this location named Marvin who was trying to help, but he's not around and the other manager... how can their service be this bad??!! No way on earth is it worth the few bucks you might save. I really hope my vehicle is safe to drive! read more

They are the best. I had a flat, came in and was taken care of right away. Turned out I needed new tires. They did not try to up-sell me, but rather recommended the lowest price tire for my car (which was also far below the price at other stores on-line). I was in and out in about 45 minutes, and very satisfied! Went back with another car that needed air in its tires, and again was taken care of right away by very pleasant and friendly employees. The $9 warranty really is "replaced with no questions asked" and they've even fixed up leaks on tires I didn't purchase from them and sent me on my way free of charge. HEADS UP!! Discount Tire used to rotate tires for free regardless of where purchased. Suddenly, (as of two months ago) they are now charging $40 every time for balancing. So, all that goodwill is now gone. My last tires were purchased at Costco because of a pricing issue (DT couldn't compete). I realize that free is not free for the company, but a sign in the window may have made sense. My first clue was when the guy asked for my credit card... WHY DO YOU NEED A CREDIT CARD for a free service?? Plus, it is a balance job each time they rotate them. Sorry, I will go back to Costco for my rotation, sure it takes longer but they have food samples and dozens of TV's to watch while I am waiting. Bad decision on Discount Tire's part. Next time I need tires, I am not even going to consider them. read more

On a Monday I blew a tire coming up to Del Mar. I had to have AAA tow my car 5 miles to the nearest tire shop and the closest one was Discount Tires. My technician was Joe, and he was amazing in his service. He was very knowledgeable on the best tire for my vehicle. He inspected all 4 tires and said that I had 4/32" left on my tread and should definitely get all 4 tires because of that tread measurement was at the serious caution level. In conclusion, I ended up going with Bridgestone, a tire that I have had good success with. Joe was a cool guy who knows what he is taking about when making a selection for tires. I took my Lexus in for rebalancing my tires since there was a vibration in the front of the car that was not normal. After they removed the tires, they found the right front wheel and tire had been severely damaged and had to be replaced. I had run over a large pothole a week before and had no idea of the extent of the damage. They put my spare on and ordered a new wheel and tire; all this for a 2002 Lexus GS300 so I was concerned it would take a long time to replace.Within two days I had the new tire and wheel on the car they ordered from a supplier in the midwest and then they balanced all my tires. Great service! The staff is very customer oriented and responsive. I will definitely return here for anything to do with tires! read more

I had to get 4 of my tires replaced and it ended up costing about 350 dollars. they were really helpful and friendly the entire time. the extra 20 bucks per tire for a warranty or whatever isn't that bad knowing that I can have my tires repaired or replaced for free if something goes wrong. I got a nail stuck in my tire on my way to work. I was able to get to my job on a donut and then researched tire shops in the Del Mar area. Found this discount tire through yelp and they had good reviews. Right after work I drove in and was met by Ian. He was very nice and found used tire that was cost effective for me. They took my car in immediately and I was in and out in about 30 min. As Ian put it, "they are hungry for customers." I don't understand why others are saying service here is fast. The last time I went to have my tires changed I came back after 1.5 hours and they still hadn't touched my car so I complained and they said they would rotate my tires in 5 minutes or less. Half an hour later I got my car back. I figured that time it was because I was a walk in so today I made an appointment for 11:45. I got there at 11:35 and told them I needed it done as quickly as possible. I went and ate lunch came back and my car still hadn't been touched so I went to the desk to ask for my keys back at 12:15. The guy told me he was literally just about to drive it in and that it would "take 10-15 minutes", this was at 12:15, 30 minutes after my appointment time and 40 after I had gotten there. So I just left, will have to start going to a different location now. I don't understand the point of appointments if they don't honor them? read more

I've always gone to this discount tire and they are on point. Call Bruce (the Manager) is a great guy and he knows the tire and wheel industry very well. I went to a Costco tire center a while back and had to wait 4 hours to get my tires changed back when i had a bmw 5 series which is outrageous. Since then I have always stayed a loyal customer to this discount tire location I brought my BMW M3 and my Honda Fit here multiple times. They price match as well. Just had a flat tire fixed at no charge! This is a tremendous service and yes, it will make me strongly consider using Discount Tire when I need new tires. I was able to make an appt online the night before for 0830. They were a little slow getting to me initially, as it was extremely busy on a Sat AM when it was supposed to be hot later in the day. But my tire was soon off & being expertly cared for by Oscar, who kindly let me watch from the edge of the garage. The place was buzzing, all the employees were literally running to get their tires moved from place to place. Lots of smiles along with hard work and I was on my way in no time! I had a leaking tire traveling from LA to San Diego a few months ago. I pulled into the Solano Beach Discount Tire expecting to have them patch the tire. The salesman John took the tire off and proceeded to tell me it was against state law to patch/plug a tire with 3 patches in it (after reviewing the law this is not true) he then proceeded to sell me two new tires. He not only sold me a bill of goods on the tires he told me they would put the tires on the rear to get better traction. The problem is it s a front wheel drive car. Even after I informed him of that he left them on the rear. Needless to say I wont ever give any business to this company even if I have to drive on the rim. We've been taking our cars here for many years but have not taken the time to write a review before. It's time to thanks them for their service, professionalism and friendliness. One Friday morning, my car indicated very low pressure in one tire so I went to Discount. They checked the tire and said they could plug it but the would fix would fail because of the location of the screw. They said I should get a new tire. Unfortunately, they didn't carry the brand and would have to order it. Although I wanted them to do the work, I didn't want to wait another day. They offered to look up the number for my car dealership in Kearney Mesa. Discount sent me on my way with no charge - just a smile and "see you next time". I appreciate their honesty and helpfulness. I have used Discount Tire in Solana Beach for many years and had always had a positive experience. After getting a new set of Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus tires put on my 2014 X3 I needed to write a review because they exceeded my expectations! Really, they did. I had three requirements: Do not scratch my rims, apply weights to the inside only and set my tires to 35 psi. On all three counts, the installer, to his credit took the extra time and care to make sure all three requirements were meet. Yes, it took longer for the installation but the outcome was well worth it. Now for the best part: normally I would have expected they would reuse my rubber stems with the attached TPMS. BUT instead they installed a set of metal stems with really nice looking chrome caps. They didn't even tell me and it wasn't until I arrived home, parked the car and looked at the tires to discover this nice improvement. Metal stems are always much nicer to have when reinflating tires and I am very pleased they did this with no extra charge. BTW, I was replaced RFs with non RF tires and instantly the car's ride was much better: less road road, more comfortable, and handling is great. Thanks Discount Tire, you made my day! read more
