This place changed my life. I learned necessary life tools. Also I understand on how to cope and deal with situations/problems in the right matter. The connections between my counselors and staff will always hold a special place in my heart. Countless memories will stick with me from my 30 day stay. I originally went in for alcohol and depression and had the owner calling me daily to check on me in a time when I felt like I had no one else. I highly highly recommend this recovery center. It's truly a A+ experience and I hope anyone going through the similar problems gives this place a try! Was great till I was gone then they don't have time of day to return phone calls. I left AMA... They keep belongings in safe for 24 hours, that's fine. But what they can't do is return a phone call to find out how I can get my wallet and phone. I'm now stuck with no way to do anything because all my access is on that phone they can't tell me how I can get back. No wallet... How am I supposed to.keep being successful in my recovery when they are doing nothing to help me get my belongings back. I've been giving great reviews until yesterday and today when staff can't be bothered to assist me in life stataining items they are holding. I get policy, they should have added we don't help you if you leave. AMA. We don't care that much is what they should have added to the policy in their little typo filled booklet with the rules and policy's in it. So I have to sit and hold my breath to see if anyone gives a shit that my aftercare appointments are mostly phone appointments, and they are making it is hard as possible for me to get my phone back. Despite their lack of care if you leave with out their blessing, I still have 30 days today...even after my car was totaled yesterday and all my information is at discovery Recovery and I have no way to get it back until Kam is free and has time to give a shit about his phone messages and my request to how I get my stuff from them. So it went from 24 hours to 5 days to a call back....well I hope I get a call Monday after my life starts to fall to shit. Im stuck holding my breath three more days. I would put a zero but it does not allow you to. First I came to this facility coming off stimulants and was given lorazepam and gabapentin I told them I have abused gabapentin in the past, over 20 times I had to tell them and they still continued to try and give me the medication its like the head of the facility is not connected to the body I was never given an orientation and was there 13 days and during this time I set up my own outpatient and marriage counseling therapy without a lick of help from the staff. they have process groups that are a joke they tell you that you have a safe space to share about your experience here and then tell you to fill out a paper about what was talked about to give to the other staff members WHAT A JOKE and to top all of this when u come in and leave against medical advice you cant have your belongings you have to wait 24/36 hrs to get your stuff !! ok that's reasonable I get it I had meeting with the S.U.D.P the mental health and when I left they were so nice actually giving me my sweater that I was supposed to get at the non existing orientation being there 2 weeks ya think they would have done that ha what a joke so now I get a call from CPS saying I left against medical advice and they were worried about my kids. My children are here pissed as I am. They only wanted DAD home this place is a joke do not trust these people they have only been open a few years and have loads to learn about taking care of us. I got out yesterday no AMA just a soft exit with fake nice people I guess they really wanted my excellent insurance and im telling you ive been in treatment before i know its sad but i have a baseline to go by even state run facility is better dont waste your time call someone else the just tried to get me to relapse with this false CPS call read more

My first week was great. Calmness and a feeling of extreme safety. It was going really well because the clients were easier clients to handle. Then week 2 happened. The house had a lot of turnover, with half the house discharging and a new batch of 6-7 clients coming in within 2-3 days. One client who arrived has severe bipolar, and it was immediately clear that she was living in a manic episode due to being untreated for her bipolar. She passed the company's "assessments", was put in detox, and like all other clients was encouraged during detox to attend groups if she felt up to it. From the first hour of her arrival, the house turned from a peaceful place to a very chaotic place, with this lady screaming, crying, shaking, and drowning out clients with her voice. Every day for 4 days, I reported to a new staff member (to protect myself and the group) that this person was incredibly unwell, triggering clients, affecting my mental health/recovery and that of others, and incapable of understanding what she did. The onus to handle this was put unfairly on clients, and by day 6 it was clear that none of the staff really understood how chaotic those first 4 days with her were. What wasn't clear at all was why a person with a severe, untreated mental health disorder was handled so lackadaisically by staff, as if a lion was released on us with no questions asked and slowly eating a group of sensitive addicts apart. None of the staff did anything about each of my reports nor any of the reports by other clients who were experiencing the same thing. Not even a quick email that our mental safety was at risk because this untreated individual was let loose on all of us. Just lip service and a serious problem that went in one ear and out the other. By day 3 I was entering a depression episode because handling this individual was exhausting and regularly triggering me. By day 5 I was curled up in a ball in bed, only capable of leaving my room for the bare necessities. By this point the lady was finally on medication that was somewhat helping her. Unfortunately for me, it was too late, my depression was getting worse, and I was realizing the staff's complete lack of response was shattering my sense of safety at the facility. After all, if this was a regular occurrence, how would I be able to heal? It would be chaos on top of chaos, and that rips safety and trust apart. The only staff member who genuinely understood me was Monica (a nurse). She apologized for the staff because she saw they did something really wrong. I was given a medical reason to take the time I needed to heal. All hell broke loose on day 6. I was still very depressed, so I was only able to attend part of the first group. I went downstairs to distract myself, and a rude staff member named Stacy told me I can't watch TV and had to be in group no matter what (this is false and she did not care to know my medical reason). Given Stacy never cared the reason, I made it clear my mind was going through hell and watching tv was keeping my mind from "feeling like I want to die". She takes this to the clinical director (Julia) saying I said I want to die (I did not), and Julia just assumed this was true. Julia yelled directly at me saying I'm either going to a hospital for suicide watch or I'm in every group with no exceptions. Again, false because many clients skip group for many reasons that are perfectly acceptable. I was then told by my substance abuse counselor that I was making all of this up because my brain was putting me through withdrawal. I was done with the excuses and knew I had to leave for my safety. Now the crazy part: they kicked me out and lied to my family, saying I was the problem, punching/kicking walls, wasn't taking my meds, never going to group, and that the lady in question was sent to the hospital 3 days before. Not a single word of this was true. I now have no options. This place has possibly ruined my life to protect their pride at all costs. I do not recommend. read more

Best treatment center ever!!!! I've had many experiences working, lecturing, mentoring, and attending inpatient treatment centers throughout my life and Discover Recovery takes the cake! They actually care about the patients and hear/address their needs unlike other treatment centers I've encountered. This was by far the best treatment I've ever been to. The whole team there is highly accommodating and friendly. The food was great and I never went hungry. The proximity to the ocean is amazing and the recovery scene on the north coast is very strong and inviting. Discover Recovery provided me with the highest level of care and comfort. The medical assisted withdrawal process was painless. The staff treated me with the utmost kindness and was attentive to my well being. They seem to really care and are very flexible in working with or around any special needs or wants. The food is top notch. There is always a huge variety of food available at all times from healthy options like (salads, fruit, vegan) to snacks from chips to cereal. The breakfasts were amazing; Eggs, bacon, pancakes or waffles every morning. I'm from California, so I really enjoyed seeing the Pacific Northwest. There were plenty of field trips and hikes. There were multiple group walks from the facility to the beach located only a few blocks away. At night we were taken to excellent meetings nearby. I was able to meet a huge community of sober people. I spent 2 months there with no distractions from the outside world. An opportunity to get clean and learn how to stay clean. I am still clean to this day. It was was the best decision I could make as a struggling addict and I suggest the same to any one who is a family member or addict themselves. read more

Discover Recovery saved my life!!! They got me into inpatient treatment in their Long Beach facility the same day that I had my intake. I had no insurance and that didn't stop them from helping me. I stayed 2 months in their inpatient treatment, and didn't leave there until I had a safe place to go to that was conducive to my recovery. They helped me get into an oxford house after I completed my inpatient treatment and even drove me to the oxford house 3 hours away. The staff is amazing! They really care about what they do and its not just a job to any of them. They made me feel like we were all in this together, that is what made the difference for me. I will never forget what Discover Recovery has done for me. I learned how to deal with my feelings and emotions without using and that was my biggest struggle.
