I contacted them for some blinds for my home. I was called back the same days I called for a in home estimate. John came over and was very helpful not trying to over sell or upsell me, really wanted to give me what he thought would work best. He even went as far as to make suggestions that would save me money but cost him the sale. I ordered blinds and they were delivered and installed in less than two weeks. Just had cellular shades installed throughout the entire house from Discovery Shutters and they did an incredible job! John communicated quickly and clearly, scheduled an in-home measuring and provided an estimate quickly, and they were BY FAR THE BEST pricing around. I did extensive research and got quotes from several different local companies, all for the exact same product, and Discovery was the most affordable option. John also seemed to be the most knowledgable about the product. Most other reps couldn't answer all my questions but John knew his stuff and even made some recommendations that improved the design and function (even when it would mean less money for him). They also had the shortest window for installation (about 2-3 weeks; other companies were 4-7 weeks). Installation was a breeze. The crew was friendly and efficient. My husband and I just recently had shutters installed by this company. Pros: They are competitive with other companies by offering price matching. They beat another company by almost $200. The shutters look nice and function without any problems. Cons: We had just installed hardwood floors and I spent two whole days cleaning my dark colored hardwood floors. I have a sign on my door that says , "welcome, please remove your shoes." The 2 workers came in with their dirty shoes on and got footprints everywhere! It would have been better if they wore shoe covers. Whenever I have other companies come over they always wear shoe covers. Also, I told them that the floors scratch easy and I did not feel they were very careful with the step stool or removing old blinds. Despite the cons I would still recommend this company. The price was good and the shutters are great. After the workers left I was able to clean my floors and thankfully my floors did not get scratched. read more

I contacted this business 2 days ago to make an in-home appointment at my home in PV for what would have been 16 Hunter Douglas Silhouette window coverings for phase 1 of my home remodel. The project would have led to more than 2 dozen additional windows. Today I get a call back that, even though they are located in Folsom, they do not go beyond El Dorado Hills. Really? I work in Folsom. It not more than a 25 mile commute. I've had businesses from Rocklin and Sacramento come to my home to do remodeling work. This business needs to expand their area to service all of El Dorado County not just the prissy homes of EDH. read more

We were at the Fountains and walked in to take a look at the Hunter Douglas interior shutters and left our information. Jason came to the house and did all the measurements himself and then sent us a quote that listed all of our windows, their measurements, and the price. I assumed we would go with Costco or something online but the online prices were the same (but didn't include installation, which was free with Discovery Shutters) and Costco's quote was $2000 higher and they didn't break it down window by window and they wouldn't even price the wide narrow window above the shower. Jason did it all and responded immediately to my emails and there was zero pressure to close. Don't let their location at the Fountains fool you, they are the best at what they do and you will be hard pressed to find it cheaper anywhere else! read more

We replaced some 16 year old drapes with Hunter Douglas Luminettes. I had gone into the showroom in Roseville with measurements and got a quote from Jason, then the owner John came out about 2 months later at my request (I had waited on ordering so I could get a Hunter Douglas rebate) and the amount had increased via Hunter Douglas. John split the price difference with me, which I considered fine. His installers did a good job overall, but they hung some of the family room drapes a bit high. John was very understanding about this when I called him the next day and arranged for the installers to come back out when it best fit my schedule. They had the problem fixed within 45 minutes of arrival and the drapes look great. John's measurements and color selection were perfect. John was on time for his estimate and his installers were on time for their initial visit and follow-up visit. I consider the owner John to be very responsive to customers' needs for both pricing and service. I recommend Discovery Shutters & Shadings. read more

Based on a contractor's recommendation I called Discovery Blinds for an estimate on Hunter Douglas Plantation Shutters. John, from the Stockton location, came out, measured the windows, and within 20 minutes gave me a quote. Since we were in the early stages of a whole house remodel he was able to make recommendations for the contractor to update the 40 year old window openings for the new installation. The shutters look fabulous, they definitely update the house, and bring the whole remodel together. It was a pleasure to work with John and, needless to say, we are happy with the outcome. read more

LOVED doing business with Discovery Shutters. Needed 3 Hunter Douglas silhouettes. Worked with the owner John. Took a few days to touch base with John but it was worth the wait. Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable, and saved a signficant amount of money compared to other bids I had received. They were clear about delivery dates, kept their promises, and even helped me repair 2 other Hunter Douglass shades that I already had!! Installers were veteran company employees, very polite (removed shoes), efficient, and honest. There was a broken part on the battery case from the manufacturer that I would not have noticed or known about. They immediately notified me and came back a second time to replace it. How refreshing to do business with a company that takes pride in their craft. read more
