I didn't expect them to welcome me with a giant smile, but they seemed to not really want me there. Also, it appeared that they were changing rules on the fly, almost as if it was a power move? I don't know. I just got bad vibes the entire time. I paid for a full year membership but it was only good for 3 months because they run theirs from Jan.1. -Dec 31. It just wasn't a place for me. I don't like being micro-managed after I have displayed that I know what I'm doing. Your results may very, I know a lot of people like this place.

There is only a few tables do sometimes yah might have to wait. Don't hog tables if your not using them please. They do have a single bathroom. Although you don't have to pick up your brass there are some folks who do for you. Just don't leave trash. Bring your own targets. Be patient when waiting for the chance to setup your target.everyone works together on saftey while target change is progress ceasing fire until the range is clear.

I'm comfortable with firearms but would still consider myself at an intermediate level at best. Dennis explained things in a straight forward manner and made me feel comfortable asking a ton of questions. He gave me a lot of pointers on handgun technique and a number of drills to practice in the future. The class itself was incredibly well done, and we talked through a lot of real world scenarios which could impact a CCW holder or firearm owner. After the class we went through a couple of video/laser training drills on real world scenarios, which provided a great example of how fast your decision making has to be. I will definitely be taking future courses through Black Oak and would highly recommend them to anyone. Also, they took COVID precautions seriously, and I very much appreciated their commitment to protecting their customers and themselves.
