So I have been having a total issue at my doctors office Glasson Sports Medicine and therapy, I had…read moresurgery in the being of April a Regeneten bioinductive implant. Surgery went well, started to go through physical therapy through her office as well. During/ around the three week or so of therapy they notice that my shoulder was starting to freeze up and was not moving very well. So one morning I came in to do my PT and their head therapist came over and put her face in my face and said you need to move that shoulder I don't care if you have fibromyalgia or CRPS that not my problem and you need to work through it. Totally blown by it I just kept quite. The same therapist takes me over to the table and pushes down on my shoulder You see I can get you to full capacity and moves it very roughly even though I'm telling her that it hurts. A couple of days later I get to see the doctor I informed her of the issue and that I have been telling the therapist that I'm in deep pain and even more after this happened with the therapist. Dr Glasson was very distant looking had no response and went into you need another procedure to cure the issue, she then assigned me to her other office for therapy. May 5 did my second procedure to unfreeze my shoulder three days after the procedure I complained to the therapy staff that I'm in total pain in my rib and back and my neck with pain to my ear drum not my shoulder so They Inform me that it might have been possible to get your rib fracture during the procedure. So I tell the staff well can I get an X-ray or something to find out. I'm in pain and not able to breath. With much hesitation and conversation they finally gave me an X-ray with a the following day out of nowhere an appointment with the doctor was made. Get to the doctors office had my wife with me as a witness I see the doctor and inform her of my issues she has a blank look began to speculate that I fell or had an accident of some sort. Which none of this happened I ve been at home relaxing and trying to bear through the pain. I am basically prying for her to answers of what this could be or what I should I do. Nothing she responded with have to tried hot compresses. I told her no one has informed me what to do even after day of asking the therapy staff for help. The doctor then tells us this is the first time She has hear of this. Even though I have told the staff every single day that I have come to therapy and I've asked to find answer out from the doctor. She didn't offer pain management didn't offer a new referral to be checked out, did even seem to care about me as a patient or human being. Didn't even say you need to go to your primary and get an EKG. As a veteran with PTSD this is the most horrible scenario I could through. I would rather be back on the front line fighting for our country and getting hurt then having to deal with this doctor or her staff.

I had an appointment with Dr. Glasson and I am so glad I did! She was very thorough, understanding, and patient. She diagnosed several issues no other doctor even considered and I am beginning treatment next week! Excited to see a doctor who knows what they are doing and cares about their patients!

While waiting alone in the exam room, I overheard a medical assistant make a comment along the lines of, "I don't understand why she's here for an injury that was developed in 2013." Hearing that statement was disappointing and upsetting. What that young lady did not know is my story. What she also failed to realize is that I have been under ongoing medical treatment for this injury since 2013. This is not an issue that simply occurred years ago and disappeared. Over the years, I have dealt with multiple serious foot injuries, including a sesamoid fracture, a navicular fracture, and other complications affecting my right foot. Despite these injuries, I have continued to persevere, walking and working through pain on a daily basis. Since my injury in 2013, I have continued to work full-time despite significant foot and ankle problems. I have pushed through chronic foot and ankle pain, worsening nerve pain, and a condition that has now progressed to bone-on-bone degeneration. In addition, I have ongoing right knee issues that will likely require a knee replacement in the future. The physical demands of working while managing these conditions have been extremely challenging and, at times, debilitating. What was most troubling was the assumption that because my injury occurred years ago, there was no reason for me to seek care. Every patient's journey is different. Medical conditions can evolve, worsen, and require ongoing treatment over many years. Many of us spend years trying to remain productive, support our families, and continue working despite significant pain. As a healthcare worker myself, I take pride in providing compassionate, respectful care to my patients. I have continued to work every day through pain and have only missed work when recovering from back and shoulder surgeries. I am not the stereotype that some people may associate with workers' compensation cases. I am someone who has done everything possible to remain employed and independent despite serious orthopedic conditions. My hope is that this experience serves as a reminder that healthcare professionals should approach every patient with empathy and professionalism. Comments about patients should never be made loudly enough to be overheard, especially when those comments are based on assumptions rather than facts. Patients deserve dignity, respect, and the opportunity to tell their story before being judged. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Blake Moore. Other orthopedist have declined to see my workers' compensation case, but Dr. Moore was willing to evaluate me and listen. Whether or not he was aware of the details of my case before my appointment, I am grateful that he gave me the opportunity to be seen and treated as a patient rather than a file. I hope this feedback is received in the spirit in which it is intended--not to criticize, but to encourage greater compassion, professionalism, and understanding for patients whose struggles may not be visible at first glance.

I'd like to start by saying that while I haven't visited the physical building, I was referred here…read moreby my doctor to work with a dietitian to help me lose weight and improve my health. This isn't something I ever would have considered earlier in my life--not for any particular reason, I just wouldn't have done it. However, for the past four months, I have been working with Dennis Bueso, MA, RD (Clinical/Sports Dietitian), and the experience has been nothing like I expected. Being very overweight, I anticipated someone taking charge of the conversation and lecturing me on what I 'better' start doing. I think TV gave me a twisted idea of how these things go. Thankfully, it hasn't been like that at all. Our conversations are excellent and open. Mr. Bueso is incredibly 'chill' and immediately sets you at ease; it feels like a normal, back-and-forth conversation between two people. He is great at following up and is just a genuinely easy person to talk to. Since starting, I've seen amazing results. For those who know what A1C is, mine had been double what it should be for over five years. In just four months, I've brought it down to exactly where it's supposed to be. I give myself credit for controlling my diet, but Dennis has been instrumental in helping me understand what to watch and work on. In addition to the blood work, I've lost over 30 pounds in that same timeframe. I definitely want to give props and thanks to Mr. Bueso. If your doctor has recommended a dietitian, just do it. I worried about how it would go, but those worries were unnecessary. It has been a great experience. We only get one shot at life; I may have started this battle late, but I'm determined to battle to the end. Thank you if you read all my ramblings. :) Thank you again Dennis. Tim

They also give you exercises that you can do at home. I went for the dry needling, but found out my insurance doesn't cover it, but you have the option to pay out of pocket. The room is wide open so it will be several other patients getting worked on at the same time. They do have some private rooms. You're given several exercises to build your strength back up in whatever area you have issues with, and they also incorporate some massage, and heating pads into your treatment. It's about an hour visit, and you're in and out. Wear something comfy. I have used them in the past as well and think its a nice office to use for your therapeutic needs. Check them out!!

Dr. Sandra Glasson is by far an amazing doctor. She will go into detail about everything she sees…read morein your X-Rays, what needs to be done, and explain to you any possibilities of finding other problems that could be taken care of during your surgery. She takes the time to listen to you, the patient about how you feel, questions you might have, your limitations, and how much your in pain. A graduate from Duke University and with experience of more than 25 years, you are definitely in good hands !!! Dr Sandra Glasson has worked with various Olympic Sports Teams such as the Women's Field Hockey team, Women's Basketball team, Women's Gold Medal Soccer team, as well as local teams such as various High Schools, Virginia Rush Soccer team, Elizabeth City State University basketball team, and Old Dominion University Wrestling team. After surgery Dr Sandra Glasson will go over and explain your pics of the surgery and show you the before and after pics, and show you any other findings if any that she saw. It is great to actually see what it looked like before and to see the work Dr. Glasson has done. Now the interesting part is that Physical Therapy with Quanita, Caroline, Mac, Jan, Gerald, and Meghan to name a few. I waited a month to get an appointment and then after arrival I waited over an hour to see the doctor only to find that she could not have been more disinterested in understanding the problem or potential cause. She prescribed cortisone shots even though I made it clear that I had been managing the pain at home for the last 10+ years and wanted to know the root cause and treat that. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked again if the cortisone shots would treat the cause, not just the pain, and she said "oh, I don't know, maybe." I was so shocked I didn't even know what to say so I didn't push any further. Beyond that, her team must not have sent over the referral for the cortisone shots because I never received the call to schedule that they told me to expect.
