For years, I've been struggling with finding a doctor that I am confident could help me with my spine. I've had multiple procedures, and still live in constant pain. I was referred to Jordan-Young Institute by a friend who was convinced they changed her life. From the first phone call to make an appointment, to my second follow up appointment with Dr. Babbington, I am satisfied. My first appointment was scheduled as soon as possible, after sharing my backstory and what I was looking for. When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionists were very friendly, and told me to check in on the tablet. A super convenient, easy way to check in, pay your copay and get your insurance on file. Once I met with Dr. Babbington, I knew I was in good hands. His expertise and passion for what he does made me feel confident that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. He went over my prior imagining, talked possibilities, scheduled an injection and a follow up, and made a game plan. On my follow up appointment, Dr. Babbington and I had to talk about the surgical options that I have to think about. Knowing one of them is tough to get covered by insurance, he said he will do whatever he can do to try and can get it covered, so that I can have the best possible procedure and a better future ahead. I would give Dr Gondusky a "5 star" review if I could. Dr G was awesome, I had both knees replaced summer 2025, June and August. The PT staff was great too. However, the front desk staff leave much to be desired. I got a call in June 2026 telling me they were cancelling my June followup because the now don't take my Anthem Healthkeepers insurance. I was welcome to reschedule and pay out of pocket for the visit, which would be $197. Xrays and anything else would be extra. I have never been so confused about insurance policies and frustrated with a practice. read more

I guess the biggest problem is with the whole medical industry in general wait times are absurd if your appointments at 9 AM and you gotta be there a half hour early why did you still not get seen till 930? The other side of this coin is from a patient's perspective, especially somebody like me who deals with psoriatic arthritis major back issues sitting in a waiting room chair 15 to 20 minutes isn't bad but for an hour is absurd Their check-in process is a kiosk. It's as if they don't even want to say hello to you when the medical industry stops looking at patients as just a number in a way to make money and start looking as people places like this will never get better than a two or three star review. After my last review I was sure there wasn't anything I could add about how wonderful Jordan Young Institute is. But now there is. They have expanded the practice & added specialties. Neurosurgeons, Regenerative Medicine, Physiatry & Physical Therapy are wonderful additions. Having PT that can communicate directly with the doctors & provide referrals between the two is great! An additional building on their campus houses Physical Therapy. In addition to Dr. Jordan, who did both my knee replacements, I now see Dr. Griffin for elbow & shoulder. He is extremely knowledgeable & experienced, having done research, presentations & papers in the most current approaches to procedures. Experience includes having served as Team Doctor for numerous professional & college sports teams. He has a pleasant persona with patients. I trust him as implicitly as I do Dr. Jordan. Fantastic care provided by the physical therapy group, specifically Will. I came in with a shoulder injury, and he gave the most thorough exam to really identify the areas of pain that need to be worked on, and then took the time to explain the mechanical functionality of the shoulder and how the tendons and muscles interact with the area that I have injured. They are friendly and patient and very personable. Would definitely recommend this practice for physical therapy.! read more

My PCP referred me here to see a Dr. Siegel in hopes to get some relief for my knee until I can see a rheumatologist in AUGUST. They called and scheduled my appointment for 02-25, on 02/18 they decide to call me and inform me Dr. Siegel wants me to "continue care at Atlantic Orthopedic". Now I only went there as a walk-in for my knee and got an x-ray and a brace and was charged over $500! I won't go back there and haven't ever ACTUALLY gotten care from them. I inform the nurse of all of that and she said she would speak to him. I get another call on 02-18 later in the afternoon and Dr. Siegel has stated I need to cancel my appointment and be seen at another facility BUT could NOT tell me why he didn't want me seen by him. I am 22 years old and I am barely able to walk on my right leg. I am unable to do alot of basic human things due to the pain.. my PCP has done the best she can do until I am able to see a rheumatologist in August to have auto immune testing done... Dr. Siegel was supposed to help provide me with a little bit of relief so I am able to do basic things like shower, dress, drive, and simply walk normally. I am so beyond upset with the lack of care from them and the lack of an explanation! read more

Jordan-Young Institute is a one stop shop for anything related to orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, neurosurgery, physical medicine, rehabilitation, physical therapy, etc... The business occupies a large two-story office building at 5716 Cleveland Street in Virginia Beach. The large private parking lot can get pretty full but capacity is more than adequate for the business. The lot is well maintained and kept free of debris. The building itself is modern and clean as are the furnishings. Equipment and facilities are state-of-the-art. I had been having some issues with my knees for a while so my primary care doctor referred me to the Jordan-Young Institute. They called me very promptly to set up an appointment. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't need to wait a long time for an appointment, just a couple weeks. They sent a packet of new-patient paperwork for me to fill out in advance of my appointment. I arrived about thirty minutes early and discovered a very crowded waiting room but check-in was very efficient and things moved rapidly. There really wasn't a lot of waiting around and I was called right around my appointment time. First they took a set of x-rays then escorted me to an exam room to wait for Dr. Robinson who arrived a few minutes later. After some introductory conversation we got down to business. Dr. Robinson showed me my x-rays and explained what was going on with my knees. He was reassuring and took the time to answer all my questions and explain all my options at present and going forward. I left feeling a lot better about my future than when I arrived. I am very happy my PCP referred me to Jordan-Young Institute. I am pleased with the care I get here and recommend them to anyone in need of any type of orthopedic care. read more

A place is only as good as its worst staff! I had my insurance checked by billing a week before my appt. I'd waited 3 weeks for an appt. Got there half hour early as mandated (almost wasn't seem last time because I was only 10 mins early, they started telling me I was cancelled, but I fought for my appt), checked in on the computer screen and then was told by the receptionist my insurance wouldn't cover anything and I would have to pay for my appt out of pocket. After paying $150, I waited more than an hour for my appt. Finally decided to get my money back and call my insurance to find a provider that was covered under my insurance, only to find out this place actually WAS covered under my insurance! Get it together receptionists!! I will NEVER step foot in this place again. read more

I drove my mother here on a Thursday morning. There were ample parking lots. The facility was clean. She had a 9:30 appt and was told to come earlier for check in and registration. I am very impressed with this whole facility! The check in process and registration was quick. The ladies behind the desk were very welcoming and friendly. We ended up getting in the exam room at 9:21. Dr. Jordan was great! He came in, introduced himself to us both, he grabbed the stool and sat right in front of her ame began to explain everything. I've never experienced a consult that went that easy and swiftly. We were able to pin down a surgery date in 10 minutes and have procedures explained in terms we understand. This place was great. I used to think this place was the epitome of orthopedic care. But if you have something wrong with your pelvis they won't see you and they don't bother to refer you to a different practice. I was looking at the site for a phone number as I have hurt my knee. I was shocked that anyone had anything bad to say about this practice. I am in the business. I have connections to the best. Dr Griffin replaced my shoulder. Dr Gondusky did my knee. Within one year of each other. I has an athlete years ago and had a number of surgeries, so not new to this business. I was seeing someone for about 1.5 years before getting an opinion from this practice. NEVER have i encountered a more professional staff. A more supportive and competent group of medical professionals. Of course, i went through hell with my knee (which shoulder was recovering) but insurance protocol required i use alternatives before approving the knee replacement. Did i like it....HELL NO. Was I living in hell during the period. YES! The practice did all they could to help me out, but finally got the knee done. Now...no pain knee or shoulder. More range of motion in the replacement arm than the normal one. Knee...i was walking up stairs in 5 days. Was recover a slow process. For me, yes. BUT....i listened to everything that I was instructed to do and today i am functioning normally. I have referred so many to this practice and will continue to do so. Good luck on finding a practice and physicians and staff more competent than here. Everyone i refer cannot say enough thanking me for recommending a second opinion from them or the initial referral. I felt extremely dissatisfied with the care given by Dr Marshall. I've dealt with arthritis in both of my knees for a long time and I've learn how to manage it. A few weeks ago I felt something popped on my left knee and have been unable to walk without the assistance of a walking device. Had an MRI which clearly shows a complete tear and a flap tear of the meniscus. Dr Marshall disregarded my input and told me he looked at the MRI and that my problem is just arthritis. He also told me that if I needed any further treatment I should schedule an appointment with a doctor who specializes in knee injuries (I though to myself why in the hell am I talking to you then...). He gave me a cortisone shot and hope I felt better. A TOTAL WASTE OF MY DAMN TIME!! Never coming back!!! read more

I would not recommend Dr. Babington which is a Neuro surgeon there. He is a uncaring, self opinionated menace to the medical community ...I've seen him twice now once for a referral for my back and he claimed he couldn't do surgery on me because of my age.....since still being in severe pain he ordered a hip MRI to see if I have a labial hip tear....once the MRI was done it confirmed that I have a hip labial tear....he actually had to ordasity to tell me again that it's because of my age ..and he can't fix it because of my age....even when being told that I took a full weight fall to my hip over a year and a half ago.....I've been in pain ever since my fall on Christmas Eve......how dare him sit there and tell me that this is common with age.... WTF...can he not hear...I fell over two years ago and have been living in severe pain ever since...it has nothing to do with my age .......how can a doctor sit there and tell a human being face to face that they have to live in pain the rest of their life...I'm getting a second opinion from a orthopedic surgeon.......so I definitely would not recommend this man to anyone , not even my worst enemy!!!!!!! I should have known because I checked in and was placed in a exam room and after about 20 minutes his Clinical nurse comes in and says....your good to go.......???????? What????? I went to Jordan young for some back pain. I met with Juliette Beristain, Dr. Babington's PA. She put me right at ease. She was so understanding and listened to all my concerns. She ordered up some x-rays and an MRI. The results should no real abnormalities; but the pain was real. She then scheduled me for a steroid injection which may solve the problem. 1st the good. Dr. Vincent did an awesome job on my anterior cervical discectomy (neck surgery) & would highly recommend him for this procedure. The bad is office communication & returning calls. I still, as of this posting, have an issue over $112.96. I have repeatedly asked for detailed billing on several occasions yet only get a summary from billing. The same person in billing seems to be the issue (with an attitude). I have asked twice for someone else to call so we can settle this matter. yet no call. My medical bills including insurance have exceeded $60, 000 (all paid in full except this) since 2020, so I don't think I am not being unreasonable able asking for detailed billing. read more

I had tendon reconstruction in my foot by Dr. Midas. I elected to go with him because he said he had done a hundred of these procedures with a 100% success rate. He is no longer at 100%. My life has changed from an active athletic person to one who cannot walk properly, and forget about running. Wow, looking forward in my life is depressing without the proper use of my foot never mind the constant pain. My surgery should have been successful, most are. Don't go to this puppy mill. read more

Plus they push cortisone shots before you even make your appointment. Had the person scheduling me ask if I wanted a cortisone shot. Told her I wanted a diagnosis before I agree to any form of treatment. Isn't that out of her scope? They must make big bucks there. Shocked at how uncaring and unconcerned the PA (JT) was regarding my pain or symptoms. She couldn't care less, only wants to push cortisone shots and get you out of the office. I went to Jordon Young with back pain. I moved to this area a little over a year ago. I asked the PA if he wanted my past records and MRI discs he said "No need". He examined me (somewhat) and sent me for an X-ray and MRI. I was told the appointment for the MRI would take a day or two to get. Upon leaving the office I was offered a 8 week later follow up appointment! I asked for it to be shorter since I was in pain ad they said "Ok give her 6 weeks!" I returned in 6 weeks to see a PA again, never saw a Dr. I was told that my condition has not changed. (hard to hear when they didn't look at past records yet, that by the way, I brought with me without being asked). I left the office so disgusted. Now the bill comes. I have very good insurance and there was a small amount due (in the $40 dollar range). I called the billing office and left a message to please call back to go over this bill. No response. Let me say I have NEVER called a billing office where the last thing on their list was calling back and collecting money. I then received another bill and answered with a note to please call me, I do not believe they charged my secondary insurance. Again Nothing! Awful experience. Never again. read more

Xrays look good. Pain after surgery was considerable. Jordan's PA lacks social skills and an appropriate bedside manner. They need better advice legally on pain management as they tried to prescribe drugs that conflict with each other. I expect the long term will be fine, except for lost trust as a result of dealing with the PA. Who also would not answer simple questions. But Dr. Jordan's surgery looks good. read more

I had been told by another orthopedic practice in Newport News that I needed a total right shoulder replacement, due to arthritis, and wanted to put me on their surgery schedule. I could see from my X-ray that there was no narrowing of the joint space, and told them that I wanted to "think about it". I made a appointment with Dr. Justin Griffin at Jordan Young, and, after a thorough exam, Dr. Griffin said that he didn't think my pain was totally in my shoulder, that it was coming from my neck. He also said that there was NO arthritis in my shoulder. He injected my shoulder, and the pain vanished in three days, and has never returned. Dr. Griffin saved me from undergoing a major UNNEEDED a total shoulder replacement! I highly recommend Jordan Young to everyone! read more

I had very pleasant experience with the Jordan Young Institute and Dr. Griffin three years ago for my left knee. I was given a Cortisone shot and have been fine ever since. However, I had been having severe pain to my opposite knee, that began impacting my mobility. I called the office for an appointment to be seen three weeks ago and was told someone would call me back. Three days later, I called again, figuring they overlooked calling me. I was told the doctor was given the message and would call when he had a chance. I followed up one last time early this week, said the pain and mobility was worsening and was told again, someone would call me back. Finally, late Friday afternoon and no call back, out of desperation, I called Atlantic Orthopedic OrthoNow Chesapeake location. In less than two hours of my call, I was in their office, saw an excellent NP, had xRays taken, evaluated and given a Cortisone shot (same as was done by the Jordan Young doctor three years ago). This positive experience provided me with pain relief, reduction of swelling and mobility by the next morning. It was sad knowing if I called Atlantic instead of Jordan Young three weeks ago, I would have been without three weeks of pain. read more

Please be aware that Jordon Young Institute will NOT see you until your previous surgery (done by another ortho.) was done 6 months or more ago. So that, if you feel that the surgery you had and the complications you feel occurring, will not be addressed by this very renowned ortho. practice until you have compounded the complications by waitint until after the 6 month period. Their advice - go back to the surgeon you have had two unsuccessful surgeries with, instead of seeing them before 6 months post-op. Of course, if it is an equipment failure or an infection has set in, waiting for 6 months to pass would further complicate any possible recovery. In my case, I would have three more months to wait before I could be seen and revision surgery done if that was the recommendation. By then, revision surgery may not be an option. JYI has a marvelous reputation. Too bad people like me cannot see them. read more

My wife was injured in a severe car accident in Pennsylvania and had neurosurgery to repair a broken neck. After discharge and return to Virginia Beach, our PCP gave us a referral to Jordon Young for follow up and future PT to assist in her recovery. After 2 days of being on hold we were told that unless they do the surgery they would not see her until one year has passed! Are you kidding me? How cruel, they expect us to travel back 250 miles to go back to the original surgeon? Very disappointed in their attitude! read more

First experience with Dr.Midis at the Jordan-Young Institute. Fell in pothole in late April 2019, went to Patient First, then PCP, and lastly Dr.Midis about 1-2 months after initial ankle injury that wasn't healing. He didn't believe me that I fell into a pothole. Long story short, he doesn't educate you. As a patient I will do exactly what you tell me. He doesn't give instructions for at-home care so if you rest because it hurts then "keep doing what you're doing" without investigating what it is you may actually be doing at home. Ended up with a massive DVT which resulted in a PE and almost died at the ripe old age of 31. Still in recovery and may possibly be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. Dr. Midis did not educate me on the dangers of what not to do: resting when it hurts for longer than recommended or wearing compression for more than 8hrs. We are patients, we don't deal with this everyday like you do so we need thorough instructions on do's/don'ts. Never assume that the patient would know better! I actually learned more about my condition through other orthopedic office's websites than this office or doc. Overall a nice person but felt like I was left in the dark. I ask a lot of questions during visits but all answers were vague and "keep doing what you're doing." As for the office negatives: horrible phone tree -minimum of 30 mins before answering, return calls days later, no emergent visits -something new occurs and wait to be seen weeks later, assistant Nicole is nice until she doesn't like you then she won't acknowledge you and is unfriendly. Positives: front desk is friendly, accurate, waiting area is positive attitudes & clean, short waiting time to be called back, overall updated office tech, and friendly helpful staff across the board. read more
