It's not what I thought it might be…read morepotentially, but once I experienced the natural limitations of imperfectly smooth water, I realized it could not be better. We had great weather (that's free!), friendly and safe guides, and a harbor that seemed uncrowded enough. We went on a Thursday, so the day ferries were busy moving commuters around, but we were the only personal watercraft on the water and we encountered a manageable number of NYFD boats, fishing boats, and luxury boats, I would only expect better if I were willing to (1) improve my own ride by becoming a jet ski expert, and (2) get on my own personal custom tour (which I did not pay for or set aside the time for). I also realized what folly it would be for a passenger to take video while moving at tour speed. You could do it, but the video would be bouncing all over the place and you might also lose your passenger after a rough wave. You would need that for full-time video, as the guides are paying more attention to safety and only taking pictures after they pause the tour. The one-tour gets you the meat of the harbor views - from up around 34th St of Manhattan and a view to the Empire State Building, to the Financial Center, Jersey City views, Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bride (and very close to the Williamsburg) and the South Street Seaport. It's great. Covering this ground and having any time for pictures requires speed. At one time, I think I was up to 45 knots in spurts, but generally just over 30. This will bang you around at times unless you're pretty skilled and have excellent throttle control. Mind you, I found my jet ski to have a very "tight" throttle as I describe it. It was like a small version of the brake on a ten-speed. I needed a strong tension to hold it, and changing position under high tension seemed to let it move too much. The jet ski would lurch. If they can get smoother throttles (can you get some like motorcycle throttles), that might make the riding less challenging. I paid for the pictures and got some. I wanted more pictures, but time is limited and these guys have to put awareness (safety) first and then progress on the tour second. I would suggest if you want a lot of photos, hire them for a private tour or a longer tour and you'll get more pictures. My wife is a real non-adventure/non-athletic person. She says she was literally praying to God before we even got there. Then she kept telling me to slow down. I can't blame her. I was surging and stopping, especially in the first 20-30 minutes as I got the hang of it. This experience can be a challenge for some who are fearful of everything. If they are like my wife, they eventually realize they won't die and it's actually safe as long as you are mindful of the surroundings. Of course, the guides do their part to hold you before traffic crosses, but sometimes you're widely spaced and you must use your own good judgment not to cut in front of the 30-foot luxury liner that for heading to open waters.

He was waiting for me when I arrived, took me to all 16, staying at each one long enough for me to get some amazing shots while engaging in lively and knowledgeable conversation. My daughter and I were comfortable and felt safe even when the weather changed. It was a truly enjoyable trip. Steve even provided sandwiches. My friends & I were here this past Friday , boarding is at 7 & departs by 730. Once settled we got some drinks & enjoyed the views. I had some Vodka & cranberry , this was not bad decent drink my friends had Jack & coke & Malibu & pineapple also not bad. First round drinks was reasonably priced think it was $27 this is not bad but they do offer an unlimited option for $50 this is a pretty good deal specially if u plan on having more than 2 drinks , we ended up getting this for the rest of the cruise. They serve food buffet style u can purchase for $10 not terrible if u are hungry one of the girls decided on getting some rice , chicken , ribs , plantains & potatoes not bad. The boat itself is ok they don't seem to put a lot of effort into making it look nicer it can probably benefit from some sprucing up maybe new paint , decorations etc. The real winner here is the lovely city views really can't go wrong specially on a nice summer day. Good music, drinks were good , food was ok prices & service at the bars were not bad this was a good deal to try a nice way to spend a few hours doing happy hour differently.

TEP deserves more than 5 stars for the amazing start to finish service we experienced on our 7 day…read moreadventure to Peru to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. From the time we signed up, to the time we boarded the plane to return home, TEP took care of every detail. We commented amongst ourselves that we felt like kids on vacation with our parents, as we didn't have to worry about any of the details - just show up and follow Neptali (our guide). From airport pickup in Cusco in luxury Mercedes vans where we were promptly served Coca tea to help with the altitude acclimation, to group dinners at amazing Peruvian restaurants, to historical tours and education on the history of the Inca - everything was covered and taken care of for us. And that was all before the amazing trek along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! Of course the trek itself was the highlight of the trip, and although it was extremely challenging for us, TEP's unbelievable attention to detail did not fail us on the trail. With nearly a 2:1 porter to trekker ration, our every need was met on the trail. We dined like kings every meal, and were consistently amazed with the quality (and nutritional appropriateness) of the food our chef and sous chef were able to put out with minimal kitchen conveniences. The thing I felt was most special about TEP's approach to this trip was the focus on gaining a cultural and historical appreciation for what we were experiencing. Every step along the way, we learned about the native people of Peru, the Inca civilization, the many ruins we came across, the vegetation we saw and how it was and is used, and the history of modern Peru. It was the trip of a lifetime, and have the help of The Explorer's Passage made it so much more enjoyable, and so much more memorable. The value of what they provide is amazing for the cost....rather, for the investment. I highly recommend them!
