I was in the area and had some free time between activities, so I decided to do the tour again, because every tour is supposed to be different and unique. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The tour was exactly the same. Saw the exact same things, in the exact same order, heard the exact same jokes, was asked the exact same questions by the pages, did everything in the exact same order. The only slight difference was the end, doing a Tonight Show segment instead of a Today Show segment. I was so pleasantly happy with this tour! I have teenagers (17 & 15 yo girls) and was worried that they would appreciate it, and they had raving reviews in the end! Loved - Hearing the history of NBC within the building and as a company. Various locations things were filmed around the studio The Pages were fantastic and knowledgeable! Being able to finally see 8H! I didn't get to see all of the studios because they were filming but I heard it changes every time. I was just happy overall that it was so well put together for fans of shows and especially NBC! Absolutely worth the money. Went with friends this past Saturday and got to see where SNL and the Tonight Show are taped. The pages who led the tour were very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved that the groups are relatively small so we could always hear the pages speak. Booked our tour tickets about a month in advance as on previous trips the tours have always been sold out closer to the date. Be sure to wear comfy walking shoes as you will be standing for most of the tour. They are pretty strict about where you can take photos but definitely worth having your phone handy. Tip- There is no bathroom in the NBC store so be sure to use the one downstairs on the concourse beforehand. read more

This is probably one of my favorite tours that I've done in New York. Being a huge fan of SNL and other NBC shows, it's so cool to get to go behind the scenes where all of the magic happens! The coolest part about this tour is that you can come twice in a row and your experience could be different. The first time I did this tour, we are able to completely see the SNL stage from a window. The next, we got to go into the Kelly Clarkson and Seth Myers talk show studios. Depending on what is going on that day, that will determine what you are able to see (and maybe WHO you will get to see!) The downside is you are not allowed to take any photos or videos, but the cool part is that you get to see different spaces with production staff actually working. At the end of the tour, everyone in your group gets to play a part in a mock 'Today' show segment, which you get to download for free after and can be quite hilarious XD Even though this might come off as a tourist trap and is a bit pricey, it is definitely worth it for all that you get to see. read more

When we decided to go to New York City, I knew we absolutely had to tour NBC AT 30 Rock. We managed to snag a slot on our final day and we arrived probably about 15 minutes early. Soon everyone else showed up and we were on our way. The tour starts with a pretty interesting video about the history of 30 Rock, and our guides did a nice job of establishing a fun, easygoing atmosphere. We saw a few really cool things, but the highlight for me was easily a stop at the infamous SNL stages. I've been watching the show since the '80s, so it was a real treat seeing those iconic stages up close. Our guides offered up interesting tidbits and factoids but I just found myself staring at that infamous host stage. The whole place was even smaller than I had imagined! The rest of the tour was cool, and we got to see The Tonight Show's stage, which was also surprisingly small. The tour ended with a fun but silly chance to film a short video. Thankfully there were non-speaking roles in it for introverts such as myself. The Tour isn't cheap but honestly it was worth every penny just to see the SNL stage. What a treat. read more

Forgive me because I'm terrible with names and I should have written this review earlier, but our tour was 10am on 6/4/24 and I thought our pages did a wonderful job!! I've read a few reviews and it seems clear to me that pages can make or break a studio tour, so big shout out to ours! It was great! Our pages were very good about avoiding spoilers and letting things unfold as we went, which I really appreciated in hindsight. So as to not spoil anything, I will simply say it was a good time. I saw things I didn't expect to see, and from what I can tell, what I saw and what you might see could all be based on the season in which you visit. You will learn a lot about the history of the building, and I thought it was so cool to stand in a place with so much history. The building has been around for so many years and they seemed to make sure to use all of the space efficiently. I really loved that no space went unused. It was a pleasant surprise. Guests will also get a couple of nice souvenirs and a small discount to purchase merchandise from the store afterward, and my items came in a cute little reusable tote, which was nice. It's fine, but I think I expected more polished tour guides, working action, and more content integration. The highlight for me was seeing Studio 8H, and I got the feeling that there is a demand for tours that specialize solely on SNL. As a lifelong superfan, it is a treat to see the stage from the audience, with the musical stage next to the monologue stage, which doubles as weekend update, with two separate set pieces, all under the iconic clock. But it would be nice to get on the floor level, especially through the doors where monologists often stray. I would love to see a llama up close. They should consider such a tour one day a week that includes Wally's cue card team, prop room, costumes, control booth, etc. I would pay big money if such a tour included the dress rehearsal or actual show, rather than relying on standby, a lottery, or giving Andrew Dismukes a "massage". We were there on a Tuesday just before Shane Gillis and 21 Savage shot their promos, but we were ushered out like interlopers instead of being treated as the audience we hoped we could be. The second highlight was the interactive segment, which they only added post-Covid. They gave each member of our group of twelve a role. Some kid who couldn't read the teleprompter was our host (he was no Letter Man). Another kid was his guest. Some lady volunteered me for the "contestant", which I didn't want. (I tried to volunteer here for the janitor.) We also had three people in a "band", one "announcer", and the ugly people worked the cameras and control booth. The whole thing is scripted and videotaped, sent free to the guests, which is a nice touch. The whole thing is well-intentioned though a little hokey- they should have Seth Myers take a look at the script and punch it up. Truth is, except for the last part, I think this would be very boring for a kid unless they are a fan of SNL. Or elevators. The third highlight was entering a newsroom studio, where a girl in charge of audio took the time to point out the director, stagehand, and cameraman prepping the timing of the teleprompter. During that time we saw a screen projecting Biden the winner of the election taking place in nine months and I joked they leaked the script. They laughed and assured me it was practice. If I am found "unresponsive in my cell", please remember this review. The rest is basically three videos about NBC history, a look into mostly empty control rooms beyond a glass window, and hanging out in hallways, hoping to catch a glimpse of Keith Morrison (ok, maybe that was just me). I get that the focus was on NBC history, I would have loved to see more content integration, like chronological or thematic montage videos or props/costumes of popular NBC programming. Even though they weren't filmed there, I want to put on Ross' leather pants, drop a Junior Mint into a patient's body, close Ron Swanson's office door by remote, anything but a beverage with Dr. Huxtable. read more

I've done many of these tours and unfortunately this one lacks compared to others. At $52 after tax I'm not sure it's worth it. You essentially get to go into 2 empty studios, look at some pipes, look at some other areas where they edit sound/visuals, and then make a fake video as a tv host. The guides/pages were knowledgeable and took us on the route they are given. You can also go into these studios for free as an audience member. You also can't take any pictures or videos and they are extremely strict about it. Other tours will allow you to take pictures which is part of the reason you're going so that was a major bummer. I would understand certain areas where they don't permit photos but it was the whole tour. You can go into the store without buying a ticket. If you really want to see the snl studio at your leisure (rather than try to be an audience member which is difficult) than this is way to do it but not sure that alone is worth $52. read more

Our most favorite tour during our stay in the Big Apple. So much fun! A fantastic opportunity to see behind the scenes of some of NBC's greatest live shows. If you are a fan of SNL or Jimmy Fallon, this is a must see. You get to tour the sets and hear numerous interesting stories. We stumbled across the NBC Studios Tour by accident as we were walking by. Of course, we decided we had to do it. I've always been a HUGE Saturday Night Live fan and it was pretty amazing to see the actual studio and how small it really was. There are hundreds of lights on the ceiling because apparently it's bad luck to remove the old ones when they stop working. At the end of the tour we got to make our own little show and of course it was very similar to the famous "Cow Bell" sketch. I played the tambourine. It was a fun time. I cannot recommend them or this tour more highly. We all felt that there was just the right amount of historical info, awesome access, and technical understanding. Early morning and we just finished the taping of the TODAY show. Not sure if we actually made it on TV, but it was a fun experience making our Aloha signs and cheering on! On Weds, JuIy 3rd, I saw Carson Daly, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones live in person from the TODAY show window at Rockefeller Center and when they made their way out to do a segment outdoors. During the taping we received a 10% discount coupon for merchandise at the NBC Studios store. At the store is where we learned about The Tour backstage. Since we had extra time to spare, we decided to do it and paid $33 for each ticket. The gal said she was able to squeeze two of us in, otherwise we would've had to come back another day (it was very busy!). The coolest part of the tour was sitting on the second level of the SNL studio (usually only VIPs sit on the ground floor) and standing inside the set of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Since Fallon was on hiatus, we were lucky enough to tour the seating area and see his desk at a Birdseye view. It is said that Fallon wants his visitors to feel like they're VIP so everyone gets to sit in a chair made out of red Ferrari leather! And of course he has the the red carpets rolled out as you enter and walk down the aisle! Unfortunately, photo taking was not allowed during the 1-hour tour. But, at the end, our group participated in an interview segment and NBC emailed a link of the recording to all of us. I took snap shots of the video, so hopefully they will appear in this review. Other fun things about the tour....an "Applause" magnetic button to keep as a souvenir, seeing actual workers in the halls (like make-up artists in action), the Hall of Fame photos along the walls, an ode to The Muppets in Fallon's closet, and listening to the interns (from the NBCUniversal Page Program) talk about the history of the building and cast members - they were our tour guides. This was probably the funnest thing I did in NYC. First of all, you got to see the studios where most of your favorite talk show are filmed. You also get to learn about the history of the studio. My family and I had a really nice time with our Pages at our 10am tour on Sunday the 29th. Because it was a Sunday while shows were on a hiatus, we got to see an "extra" part of the facility besides the Nightly News studio, Saturday Night Live studio, Jimmy Fallon studio, and the hallways and lounges of the beautiful Art Deco building. There are so many photos on all the walls that there's not enough time to really view them. The "making of your own talk show" was a lot of fun and I can't wait to see the video that will be sent via email. Wife played host, kid played guest, and my other kid and I got to be in the house band. Hey, NBC, I'm writing this 12 hours later after our tour and didn't get our video! Our Pages were super helpful and fully answered our questions. They seemed very happy to give the tour and should be given a raise! It's too bad the internship only lasts a year, but maybe someday I'll see one on on TV and I could say I remember when... The tour ends at a gift shop, of course. Pass. Even with the coupon. I knew we were going to see a lot behind the scenes stuff but I had no idea we would be seeing the sets to so many iconic shows like SNL. That was so awesome! Our family took the tour in March during spring break. The tour consists of about 15-20 guests and two pages who took us through three studios. The group meets at a table in the gift shop. It's pretty remarkable that these studios exist in a high rise building across several floors. For me the SNL set was the most interesting. It is VERY small, both the performance stages and the audience seating. Hard to imagine a band like Arcade Fire fitting and performing in such small digs. We also saw the Fallon and Myers studios. In those, NBC dropped some coin on custom leather seating for the audience. The tour is informative and enjoyable if for nothing else a chance to see the "behind the scenes". The more questions the tour takers have the more you will learn. The tour does not feel rushed and the pages are anxious to share info and stories. There is an interactive piece at the end where you as a group, make a Fallon like show intro. Hey, it's NYC. For under a hundred bucks you get a great experience and an opportunity to take a tour you'll love. read more

After reading some good reviews, I booked this for 3pm in a Sunday. I was disappointed that I did. I travel quite a bit and take many tours so I've done the universal tour, etc. This one doesn't come close. They basically take you to three empty studios where they film talk shows. They all look similar with differently designed walls. You stand at the top and look down at a bunch of chairs and tables covered with sheets and they talk for 5 mins. Did not see any of the actual sitcom or show studios which would have been nice. Then three people in the group record a little talk show. You are not allowed to take any pics along the way. I was bored. Hint: There don't seem to be any broadway shows on Sunday night and Monday's in NYC. So best to take this tour then, and rather go to a 2pm or 3pm broadway show on the Sunday. It will, in my opinion, be a much better way to spend Sunday afternoon in New York. read more

This was the one thing my hubby really wanted to do. We were lucky to look at tickets ahead of time because this thing sells out! It was a really great tour. It started right on time, and the pages we had were fun and knowledgable. Because they were not filming the day we toured, we got to see the SNL set (small!), Jimmy Fallon's set as well as Seth Myers. It was really cool and made me want to come back and be a part of the studio audience for all three. So much history in those studios. The best part was at the end. We got to be a part of a special NBC taping, starring us! Here were a bunch of strangers thrown together for our tour, but we ended up collaborating for a really fun video. Impressive tour! A friend suggested that we start off our morning with an NBC Studio tour. I am always one for behind-the-scenes info, so I jumped at the chance. **Only negative spot: the door we were told to enter through was cordoned off and we had to find another entrance. We were about 20 minutes early so thought we'd use the bathroom ahead of time, only to find the bathrooms are not just a level below but are very far away, really almost a full block underground from the start of the tour! A closer bathroom was closed so we ended up waiting until after the tour.** Our tour guides, Jolene and Lara (Lana? I'm second-guessing myself now) started us off in a comfy little screening room where we watched a brief history of the studios, narrated by Al Roker. We went up and saw the Nightly News with Lester Holt studio with its hundreds of lights and were given some information on how the nightly news works. We also visited the Jimmy Fallon studio and saw the Muppet Pipes and the SNL studio (definitely my favorite part). We were shown some of the behind-the-scenes control rooms and saw what was going on in real time and then we finished up by producing our own 5-ish minute video. I had been reluctant to participate, but they truly had a role for everyone and I enjoyed my time on the bongos! This tour was interesting and informative and I've definitely sign up again since I can imagine every page is different and you'd get a new experience each time. read more

I liked the tour itself, looking at the sets, seeing the pictures on the walls of Actors I've always loved etc. but our tour guide totally sucked. I went on the nov 15th tour in the am and we had 2 guides, one was a little more talkative and would make jokes and was pretty interactive but the other was awful. Never once smiled, when she would talk it sounded absolutely scripted and without a smile on her face and it seemed like she hated being there and sounded like she hated giving us the tour. Overall was a nice experience. Most disappointing thing was that they do not allow any pictures on the tour. Did not really see anything that was so "secret" that it couldn't be photographed. It appears you see different areas depending on the tour. Our tour included the set of NBC Nightly News, SNL and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Also got to see some areas of 30 Rock as well. One of the neatest areas was a hallway to the SNL studio that had some iconic pictures from the show. Really wish we could have spent more time looking at those pics. We had 2 pages who were out tour guides overall very informative even though one of the pages was giving her first tour. Toward the end of the tour your group makes a late night "show". They will send you a copy of the video by email so pick a fun part if you are interested. My wife loves NBC shows so she really enjoyed it. In all my visits to NYC here was one place that was right by my hotel and kept missing it! Located in the Rockefeller tower AKA 30 Rock you are given a 1 1/2 guided tour of three sets of your favorite NBC shows broadcast here in NYC. Tickets can be and I recommend purchased online in advance so you can secure your tour time and when you print your ticket you will get a voucher for 10% off in their gift shop. It is noted on your ticket to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour since you will gather about 15 minutes prior. When my son and I arrived (we entered through the gift shop entry) our tickets were scanned and we had some free time to browse for gifts and pose for pictures. Mock up sets of the Today show and the judging chair on the Voice are there for fun shots. The gift shop also holds a lot of nostalgia like the old microphone used in radio days as well as a broadcast camera. Shopping for some of your old and current shows? They have Seinfeld, Friends, the Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, The Today show as well as their logo and stuff from the recently finished Rio games. Photography is not permitted on the tour but you can carry water. After an introductory video we were taken to the third floor to set the set of the Nightly News with Lester Holt. We learned a lot into what goes on making the news and as always don't be fooled by that newsroom reel in the background. It was done in California and run on that traditional "blue screen." Next stop we visited was the set of Saturday Night live. Along the way there are pictures of the old shows as well as the current ones. Located on the 5th and 6th floors, we got to see where the audience gathers preshow and then taken into the studio. Our chairs were old seats from Yankee stadium. Our guides went over the sets how the production is run, the dress rehearsal you can get tickets for as well and how easy it is to transition from one set to another in a few minutes. Our last studio we visited was the Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon. We learned about the history of the show. The good luck pole he alway goes by that has remnants of the Muppets on it and then went upstairs to the audience area where we viewed the set. We were told where he does his monologue. The desk and chairs for guests and some of the fun things he does on the show. Now it is our turn. We were taken into a mock set where you can be the host, guest star, announcer, part of the band, the camera man, or the people behind the scenes that do the necessary work to adjust the lighting or sound to make the experience personal. I volunteered to be the host and it was fun seeing how many telepromters they have not only on the camera but also at the desk which was Jimmy Fallon's original desk. We did a 5 minute clip and then they emailed us a copy as a gift. The final segment of the tour shows how they broadcast all over the country even if there are transmission problems in NY. Feel free to ask questions and learn about the history of TV as well as behind the scenes of your favorite shows. A truly not to be missed attraction in NYC. Most definitely will return here. The tour at NBC studios was amazing. I've always wanted to do it and it did not let me down at all. Seriously one of the highlights of my trip to New York. I don't want to write a long winded review about the tour because half of the fun of it is all the cool little secrets you learn about the shows and the history of the company..I don't want to ruin that for anybody. But yeah just as an overview..you get to see a lot of the behind the scenes areas. You get to sit in the SNL studio, Jimmy Fallon's studio, Seth Meyer's studio..it's all really cool. You also get to see a lot of the behind the scenes technical stuff..and it's all really interesting. And then yes at the end of the tour you get to be part of your own talk show with the rest of your tour group..I was very skeptical about this beforehand but it ended up being a lot of fun. For being part of the tour you also get a 10% off coupon for the studio store..and seeing how I planned on spending the majority of my souvenir money there I ended up saving a lot. Our two tour guides were really great..I wish I could remember their names to give them a shout out..but they were both great with such high energy for so early in the morning. On a side note..they have a very strict no photo of any kind policy while you're on the tour and you know what..good for them. It forces you to actually experience the tour rather than living it through your little phone screen. We as a society have become waay to reliant on living our lives through those little screens..enough already you know? ..that being said I got some good shots of the studio store tho..haha read more

We went with my 11 year old and my sister as one of our NYC tours. What a fun and different thing to do. We got to see Saturday Night Live's Studio which I so wish I could have taken a picture of. Wild to see how small it was, the number of lights hanging from the ceiling and how few seats there were. We also so Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers Studio as well. So fun to see the behind the scenes activities that take place to put on these shows. And the history of tv that took place (and continues to take place) there. The bonus was definitely the mock show we created. None of the people on the tour volunteered to be part of it so my sister and son and I were the stars of the show. Pretty neat they sent us the full video of the show by email. If you have any interest in any of this, I highly recommend doing the tour. read more

This tour was a lot of fun and it was very cool to learn some of the behind-the-scenes television magic. First, the pages, Alex and Emma, were funny had a fantastic witty banter style about them. Second, the tour itself was interesting. We saw the sets of the Nightly News, SNL (what a fascinating set up they have in that studio!), and the Tonight Show. We also spent some time checking out (through glass) the control rooms for video and sound. At the end of the tour, we all got to take part in an interactive mock show taping that incorporated a lot of the elements we learned about. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the whole reason my husband insisted on doing this tour in the first place: the Muppet pipes. Apparently, it's a bit of a cult thing that was cool enough for Jimmy Fallon to request that they be properly displayed and available for viewing. Too bad photography is not allowed. This was definitely fun enough to recommend. If you've ever watched TV and gave any thought at all to how it all comes together, you'll probably find this worth your time and money. read more

Further more no one at the store or the pages will tell me if or when I can come back to do the tour again to see the MSNBC sets. Every time I come to NYC I go to the NBC store and ask. Not one person knows. Some folks from the PR MSNBC department tell me they do occasionally give tours of those sets. Would be a 5 Star review if someone told me one way or the other. Do this tour if you can! It's so informative and shows the behind the scenes of what goes on in NBC studios. The pages (tour guides) are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We got to tour the set of SNL, late night with Seth Myers, and the tonight show and it was so cool! At the end of the tour, there is a hands on part where the members of the tour are able to create a little news broadcast. Overall a must do in NYC! read more

DO IT, DO IT, DO IT. Really awesome behind the scenes tour. I had such a blast and it was really neat getting to see all the sets and learn more about the building and what goes on. I think anyone who watches TV would enjoy this tour. And I want to give a really huge shout out to our pages Ben and Corie. They were so much fun and really brought a great, energetic, fun vibe to a 9 am tour. They deserve a promotion or at the very least a high five. I have been on this tour 3 times since 2004 and each time has been different and great. Appropriately priced and a little over an hour in length. Depending on the day and time you will see a few studios but won't know until the tour. Obviously it's a working studio. You learn a lot about nbc, production and I've seen a few stars walking the hallways. A great time , for adults not kids read more

I haven't gone on this tour yet, but I'm giving it a 5 star review because of the people that make the tour happen. Specifically one employee, Ryan Gallagher, went above and beyond standard the usual customer service for me. I live in NYC and had never done the tour. A friend from Ohio was bringing his 12 year old boy to NYC for the first time a couple weeks ago. I purchased tickets for the tour a month in advance, but didn't check them until 2 days before the tour. Without going into details, I screwed up! The tickets were not for when I thought they were. I sent an email to NBC, after hours, hoping (praying) something could be done to help my situation for that weekend. I felt terrible, because my friend's son was looking forward to the tour. Ryan called me the next morning (twice) to help find a solution for me. He was nice, professional, and found a way for me to buy a couple new tickets for them. (Which I was glad to do) Not only will I be sure that the NBC Tour is an automatic "must" for guests that come into town when I take them around, but because of Ryan going the extra mile, I have a new respect for the people at NBC and the customer service they provide. read more
