Joe lives in my neighborhood and I would always see his trucks doing work around town. About 10 years ago one of my Belgium blocks at the end of my driveway broke. I called Joe and asked him to repair it and he never sent me a bill. When I called him to let him know I didn't get a bill, he said "don't worry about it, we're neighbors". From that day I said when I need a new patio; I'm going to call Joe. So 10 years later and a few weeks ago I called Joe for an estimate for a new stoop and patio. Right from the estimate, I knew I was in good hands. Joe really cares about his business and customers. He is so honest and made me feel comfortable right from the start. His reputation in the industry is outstanding. He called me to keep me updated on the project start date and then brought the Foreman Sal over to meet me before the project started. Joe stopped by everyday to check on the progress of the project and to make sure I was happy. Sal the Foreman of the job and his crew arrived and created the most beautiful stoop and patio for me. Sal works as hard as his crew. Their work ethic, professionalism and workmanship are like no other. They always arrived on time, worked hard and cleaned up before they left every day. Their attention to detail, the way they built the stoop and designed the paver patio was just amazing. The quality of my new patio and stoop doesn't even compare to my old patio. It is just gorgeous! This company did a FANTASITC job replacing our walkway with Belgard Mega-Arbel pavers. They carefully arranged the beautifully-designed, irregular pattern of the pavers and placed a gorgeous border along both sides to create a sublime naturalistic stone path to our home. I can't say enough about the quality of work, the professionalism of the employees, or the finished result. From the moment we entered the showroom our every question( and believe me I have questions) was answered, explained, cost alternatives described, giving us an overall sense that we had found a contractor committed to excellence. This is the second project we've hired Distinctive Total Home to complete within the past year. The most recent is a beautiful stone accent wall in our living room. The work done by Joe and his crew far exceeded our expectations! The wall is stunning! We are so happy with the project. The work was done in one day and my house was left neat and clean. Joe originally did our driveway in stone about 5 years ago. We reached out to him this past year to do this additional work. We just did the outside of our house this past 6 months.Siding doors, front door,stone deck,garage doors and more. We almost did a whole house re do. Joe and his crew did a great job. They worked long days and worked till it was completed.Adjustments to plans were accommodated and the price was very fair. As in any home improvement job, it seems to never ends and Joe was very supportive of that fact. We kept on adding to the list and Joe accommodated our additional plans. I went in and was very happy with the project that Manny helped me plan. I was replacing my kitchen countertops and backsplash. Because I live in a co-op, the work needed to first be approved by my co-op board. In order for that to happen, I needed certain insurance information from them. I had to leave about 3 messages, stop at the store twice and wait about 2 weeks before I got it. That should have been my first red flag. But because I was hapoy with what I had chosen and the price they gave me I continued working with them. The owner, Joe, cashed my $900 deposit check and after that it took about a week for them to come and measure my existing countertops so they could make a template. At that point, the guy took my brand new sink so he could make the template. I left 3-4 messages and waited 2 weeks before I had had enough. I called them and said I no longer wanted to do work with them. I explained what had happened and was told this was "very unusual". Within 10 minutes, Joe called me back and said he thought I was dealing with the counter guy because, come to find out, Joe only installs the backsplash and hires out for the countertop. I asked how I was supposed to be in touch with him since I had no contact information. Joe very nastily disagreed and asked me how I had been in contact with the counter guy in the first place. I reminded Joe that Joe was the one that called me to set up the measurement appointment to which he replied "oh". He told me he was going to call me right back after he spoke to him again. Jo also tried to tell me that my countertops were already ordered and would be "with the next delivery". I told Joe that was impossible bc they were told not to order anything until I got the final cost based on the company's measurements. Again Joe replied "oh". three hours later and no return call I showed up at the store. They got Joe on the phone and I told him I would be back the next day to get my deposit and my sink back. Joe refused to give me a cash deposit back and said "if the check bounces just come back and tell me". Frustrated I showed up the next day and got a check and my sink which was now covered in dust and chipped on the outside. I was told "well it was in the truck" to which I replied that it was obviously thrown in the truck and not taken care of. They tried to tell me that it was fine, because it was just the outside coating that you wouldn't be able to see once it was installed. I continued to say that that was NOT the point and that when the sink was taken from my home they didn't want to take the protective covering that was on it or the styrofoam that protected it. I got no apology for the whole disastrous situation and no attempt to try to make it right. Not sure if they thought they could pull one over on a single girl that walked into their store, but I'm not the one. Took the check to their bank immediately and cashed it. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE JERKS. read more

I hired total home to do my kitchen I told them my budget 20 thousand they said we will make it work I gave them 10 thousand before they started and the day they came to gut my kitchen they gutted it and left the garbage in my driveway the work they did was not up to par the walls were not level or straight they told me they would fix it and they asked me for 5,000 dollars more knowing they had no intention of finishing the job the next day when they came to straighten the walls and ceiling they were still not straight at the end of the day they left and took all there tools and never showed up again I called and the owner said they were not coming back because I insulted his men I asked him what about my cabinets and he said he would deliver them so I had to get someone else to complete the job and I still gave distinctive total home 15,000 dollars and they did not complete the job so in my opinion do not use them. read more
