My bar staff is preoccuppied with his phone to be engaging. The lunch wait staff is older and very inclusive, not hospitable nor engaging with even simple cordiality. One of the reasons, when not a regular in DC cliques, your presumed as an outsider. Food was a salad bar, that was fresh, clean, and had a great chickpea salad w feta and pickled onion. Cheat day was dessert- mini rasbery cheescake shot and a strawberry slice of roll cheesecake. Main course was potatoe gnocchi, fresh burrata,in red sauce. Wanted to see the layout for potential youth dining, when off the boat or taking youth visiting musuems, might have to seek accomodations more hospitable

I could spend a couple hours looking at the all the wall artifacts which includes many autographed photos of important past visitors. I loved seeing the piano that President Harry S Truman used to play. Until today I never knew Truman tickled the ivories. An integral part of the NPC is dining at the Reliable Source. My dining experience was absolutely fabulous. Service was exceptional and I liked how the head chef came out to check on us. On this particular day (Wednesday), a salad and prime rib buffet was available, as well as a regular menu. We opted for the buffet, which also came with an absolutely delicious cream of chicken soup. I loved all the flavorful salad condiment options, including pickled onions and multiple types of nuts. The prime rib was tender and delicious. They had cheesecake as a dessert. At the end of lunch, they served a most excellent coffee. I loved how they did it the British way, pouring cream in the cup before pouring in the coffee. Coffee is provided in a li'l coffee pot for each person, with plenty of coffee for refills. On special occasions, such as Chinese (Lunar) New Year, they have more elaborate meals. Frequently, the NPC has pressers where people in the news come and talk and answer questions from the audience. The day I was here, Robert Rand, author of The Menendez Murders and Anamaria Baralt, a cousin of the Menendez brothers came and spoke about the case. Tho room is pretty big, but design of room strange. Besides the bed, a desk/chair, tv & bureau- mini fridge underneath & 2 bedside tables. And then a random chair with lots of space - they could have easily added an extra table. - big windows that slide open a tiny bit, but nice to get fresh air. On one side of the bed my outlets didn't work -couldn't charge my phone but luckily there was an outlet behind the bed & could easily get to it . Convenient to the U.S. Naval Observatory, Vice President's Residence, and various embassies. This isn't the kind of hotel that I would re-book with. My expectation was maybe too high. Betw the thin walls, small elevators, having to wait for a luggage cart & most of all, pulling into the place & it's super small weird hotel/restaurant parking - too crowded. I checked in with the front desk and was directed to wait for my meeting. I walked around the space and while it was really busy I was pleasantly surprised at how much space there was. This located is multiple leveled with small and large conference rooms, seperate phone booths for private conversations and regular meeting spaces. I really enjoyed that there was a kitchen that users can access. There's coffee, and in the late afternoon there is a beer and cider tap. My understanding is members pay a monthly fee to utilize the space. The more the member pays the better the perks. The space is very inviting and "hip"- I need to learn more lingo. I'm glad I was able to check this place out and it's a great spot of you are running a business and need a central location.

Our company moved into this WeWork four months ago - overall it's decent and the front desk staff /…read morecommunity management are excellent. But the space itself / office policies have some issues: - It is really dark. The lights are never completely on - they seem to have all of the lights on a dimmer set very low. In the interior offices it's like working in a closet with a 10 watt lightbulb hanging above you, or feels like you are in a basement. Kind of depressing. - Hall meetings. They have set up a few companies with numerous single or small offices in a row, as opposed to putting everyone into a larger single office. Which I'm sure those workers like, but what happens is that they then treat the hallway as their meeting space - they leave all of their office doors open, and yell at each other across / down the hall, and constantly take calls / have impromptu meetings in the hall. Great for them - not great for everyone else in the hall who doesn't want to hear it all day. This alone is enough to make us want to find a different office provider as we have constant confrontations with two groups that do this - they basically use the entire hallway as their office.

I chose the Melrose Georgetown because of location. I arrived to the hotel earlier than expected,…read moreabout 1:30pm-2:00pm. I went to check-in,hoping that my room would be ready. I was told right away that my room was ready but there's a $50 charge to get into your room early. I thought it was a little crazy to charge someone extra to get into a room that is ready. So I paid the $50. They told me about the amenities. Including the $10 bottle of water in the room. The room looked nice. The Furniture looked high-end. But that's only on the surface. I'm not sure how secure the room is. I say this because the door latch/lock is about halfway off the door. Routine maintenance apparently isn't a thing. The room was also EXTREMELY dusty. The Bed: the mattress didn't have much give. To be honest, it felt like somebody had put a small pad over center blocks bed. It was very hard and extra firm. The sheets and bedspread was nice, but the fitted sheet appears to be worn out. Or maybe too big for the mattress. The fitted sheet does not take much to get loose and starting to raise up off the edges. I noticed just laying on the bed the fitted sheet becomes loose, a lot more than it should be The pillows feels like somebody took some padding and chopped it up into 1000 little pieces and then sewed it in a pillowcase. The pillows may have been top-notch when bought. They're definitely not now. The Bathroom also is where looks can be deceiving at first glance. The countertop and sink were fine, however the countertop did have numerous paint chips, but I guess that's just normal wear. There is a door that separates the toilet and the bathtub. Toilet seat is extremely loose and moves back-and-forth very easy. It would not take much for it to come flying off. The first day I noticed while using the bathroom, there are several brown stains and on the wall. If you're sitting on the commode, it is well within arms reach maybe a foot away from the toilet. I have no clue what it is, but I'm guessing either blood or poop. Either way, there is a big smear on the wall. And then other various similar brown marks around it. The bathtub has numerous rust marks. The tub is a broken hip waiting to happen. The tub is curved at the bottom so it's not necessarily a flat surface. If you're taking a shower, between the soap and the water, my feet slid around several times. Also, at the base of the door frame, where the shower is, the wood is split numerous times. The bathroom door looks like somebody tried to punch it open. There's a small crack above the door knob. The Hotel: according to Google, the Melrose Georgetown is a four star luxury boutique Hotel. Luxury or not there are several things that are absent. Trash cans in the common areas. Other than your room. The only other trashcan they have is in the lobby. Several times during the week I've had to go downstairs to put something in the trashcan. I'm not sure why, but I feel there should be a trashcan on each floor, even if it's by the elevators. Ice machines is another thing that's absent. They have one you just have to go down to the lobby and ask someone at the desk to get it. Depending on who's at the desk, you may get an attitude. There's one lady who's been there the majority of the week who seemed very irritated anytime I came to ask for ice or anything. I had several occasions where I would ask this lady something and it seemed that it was such a hassle for her just to answer the question. A few evenings ago I asked another one of the front desk clerks about Uber availability early in morning. She seemed very irritated that I even asked her a question. I got a one word answer "yeah". I wished I knew these ladies names. I believe I know one of their names. But these ladies are giving your hotel a bad name with their attitude. Convenience or not I definitely would seek out another hotel if I'm ever in the area again. Between the bed, the unknown stains wall next to the toilet, the rude staff member in the added price to get in a room that's already available is unnecessary. And with the price I paid for the room the bed should not be uncomfortable Also at checkout this morning I had an additional $200 in fees, such as Historical fees. I thought I had already pain in full (minus the room service cost). So this charge seemed like a surprise full of random fees. ROOM 832

After dinner, while getting ready for bed, I looked at the bedspread and saw not one, but three bloodstains. Tried to call the front desk, but the phone did not work. I went downstairs to complain. The front desk again switched my room to another on the same floor and offered an apology. Additionally, when I check out that front desk agent tried to change me an additional $30+ in taxes that I was not told about. I found this very scammy considering I had a prepaid reservation. I would not return.
