WOW, what a great company! Due to construction in my building, we had a rambunctious population of mice who boldly chewed through the steel wool used to keep them out. The professionals from District Rodent Authority came in and did a full inspection of our apartment -- behind every appliance, inside closets, places we would not even think to look. They sealed off all entry points and put down bait stations, and advised us how to deal with things like pet food storage (sturdy plastic container, no bags!) and before long, I stopped having to emit blood-curdling screams at seeing a mouse race across our kitchen floor in the middle of the night. after 6 months, we saw a mouse, called DRA back, and they promptly sent Saeed, who like all his colleagues was super prompt, professional, and sealed up a hole a mouse had re-opened behind our dishwasher. I had previously used this company a few years ago and was quite pleased with their service. Earlier this year when a new issue came up, they were the first team I turned to. Based on my earlier positive experience I signed a one year service contract. My mistake. Over the first few months they were responsive and seemed to make earnest attempts to help me deal with the issue. Unfortunately, the problem still hasn't been solved. Even worse, within the last two months, it seems that they have closed and are not responding to any calls or messages. I am so disappointed in the owner, Clifford Akpan, who made me so many personal assurances. I understand that businesses run into trouble, but it is so unfortunate that he could not be upfront and responsive to a trusting customer who paid up front based on good faith. My apt had serious rodent problems (droppings everywhere) and sticky trap were going to cut it. I looked through multiple vendors ( though had to be licensed) and from initial consultation I knew they were the one. Price: 5/5 ($$$$, Please read context below) I live in a 3 floor, two family, post war house that was held together by duct tape (literally my pipes had duct tape on them- but a story for another time). For them to do the every floor and basement was about $2k which is totally worth it! Plus, they have a one year guarantee. So, if the mice come back within that time period they come free of charge. Service: 5/5 I called multiple other places that offered me $350 and a 3 month guarantee without even seeing my buildings. I would literally have beg them to visit first before making an estimate and that rubbed me the wrong way. This place required an initial consultation and gladly walked me through the areas of concern in my apt (ex. Behind the stove) and how they got to their pricing. They would pull out the appliances (for free) and I would just need clear some space for them. Super helpful when you have elderly people! I like the approach of DRA: focus on eliminating entry points. The implementation however isn't great at least in my experience. Our inspection missed large gaps in the kitchen and the filling of gaps in visible locations was comically badly done. In the images you can see the first attempt and then the "improved" version when I challenged the presentation. I gave up and re-did it myself. And that's what I experienced with Clifford and John from the very start. I requested quotes to get rid of some unwanted guests, and Clifford was the very first to respond. These guys are the real deal. I had a mouse-proofing service two years ago in my apartment, and I felt like I was taking a leap of faith because it wasn't cheap. They were upfront with me that they could not check for entry holes behind one appliance, and they guaranteed the work anyway. For two blissful years I had no mice at all. Recently, a mouse found its way in through that appliance gap. They came back to honor their guarantee: they dealt with it quickly and professionally, and didn't charge. In a ground floor unit that I manage, I had water bugs for many years which came in from the street and pipes. DRA did a waterbug exclusion service, again explaining what they were and weren't able to guarantee. I've have had no further issues with waterbugs in that apartment, which feels a little bit miraculous. The one service that didn't work out was with outside rat traps, which were supposed to be regularly baited, and (during COVID disruptions) were not. My apartment is an old brownstone so there were lots of identified entry points. Holes were patched, the sink was sealed, the oven wall had a backplate installed, and the dishwasher valves patched. I had an appointment scheduled for August 3, 2024 between 2-4pm and at 1:145pm I received a call advising the technician had car trouble and would be unable to make it. They wanted to reschedule for Monday but I made a Saturday because I would be unavailable on the weekday . After seeing mice scurry across my living room floor, I called my super to see if the contracted exterminators for my building could resolve my issue. Laying down glue traps weren't going to fix my mice problem - which resulted in me calling District Rodent Authority. Gave them a call and easily scheduled the next available appointment. Sanjay arrived on time and thoroughly examined every nook and cranny in my apartment, explaining in great detail the estimated bill (based on number of rooms to inspect, appliances to move, etc). Couple days later a technician named Chris came to inspect my apartment. He was extremely professional and made sure to check every possible crevice in my apartment - from moving the oven / fridge / dishwasher to checking even the smallest hole next to my cupboards. He was able to find multiple points of entry and quickly sealed them. Glad to say I haven't seen any mice in the past 3 weeks! Hopefully I never see mice here again but I am glad to know there is a 1 year guarantee from RDA - which speaks volumes to the quality of work / service they provide. I called DRA as my second exterminator attempt after coming across 6 mice in my apartment over the course of 4 weeks, and was so glad to have connected with them! They are very friendly and responsive and did a thorough job looking for any possible holes/entry points for mice to come through. In my mice journey, I've learned that this is the key. They also uninstalled/reinstalled the dishwasher, which is where I suspected a hole was (and it was!) to fill up a hole; this was something other exterminators would not do, nor would they be willing to move heavy appliances, so I was relieved that DRA does this. The cost is reasonable/worth it for peace of mind! They provide you a cost after a free consultation, which again, the other company did not do, they simply gave me a flat rate on the phone. Chris from District Rodent Authority came in today to spray and put insecticide all over my house for the cockroach I spotted in my kitchen. He was punctual, courteous and very knowledgeable. Chris explained why he was doing and where he was spraying all the way. He did the job fast but at the same time took time in carefully examining my problem to see where the cockroaches would be harnessing and how to trap and eliminate spreading. He was very pleasant to deal with. The operator sent me reminder of the appointment prior to the visit and an email providing clear instructions to prep my home prior to service. Early summer, The initial visit and the Work visit were great. Early September, after all of that rain and flooding a mouse was seen. We called the DRA that day and two guys came right away. Unfortunately the mouse is still in the house and I'm not completely sure what the two guys actually did. The irony of this situation is the notes in their documents state "We will NEVER leave you hanging" and that is just was the team at District Rodent Authority did. There are many reasons that I did not want to write this negative review, but it is necessary in the event that someone else experiences this company as I did, this will stand as validation. The bottom line is that they did not eradicate the mice from the unit after several opportunities to do so. They are nice guys, but did not complete the job. I had to catch the mice myself. This cost me money. They left me hanging. The good: The technician that did the initial assessment offered great customer service and took his time explaining his findings. The same gentleman came to service the unit with another gentleman. Again, he was patient in answering my questions and explained what was done. Being that they took time with the work and explanations, I felt confident that they were thorough. This was in December. They guaranteed the work. This was not a large infestation in any sense of the word. I was very disappointed and annoyed to find traces of mice again in February. I had to dispose of over $200 of food and contaminated items as the mice had now ventured beyond the kitchen and into closets. I reached back out and the same technician arrived. He was apologetic and went through and assessed the situation. He found several holes that were improperly sealed by the other gentleman that was with him. He explained that there wasn't any steel wool used to seal those holes. He said he would properly seal them. This was 2/11. I attempted to speak with management to express my extreme disappointment and the monetary loss and via email and phone, I was not given a direct response. Eventually a discount of 10% and then 20% was offered to my landlord. The 20% amounted to $100. This is in response to my losing more than $200 due to the substandard work of one employee. Even though I did not find this to be sufficient, I understood that human error is just that. Mistakes happen, right? Now just imagine the disgust and disappointment I experienced when I found mice droppings yet again on or about 2/15! I again threw out at least $100 worth of food, some of which had just replaced what I threw away before. I again spent hours cleaning and disinfecting. I reached out yet again. I was disgusted, annoyed, disappointed, financially impacted and growing very weary of this situation. Each time, a technician came I was made to feel confident that all was well. I was reminded of the guarantee, and assured that the issue was resolved. It was not! The owner himself came to service the apartment on 2/17. He was, like his employees, patient, reassuring, and I thought thorough. I was more confident than ever that the problem had been resolved. IT WAS NOT! On 3/7 I again found evidence of mice. I was again throwing away food. This for me was not easy. I work very hard, and to just discard so many food items had a big impact on me; not to mention the late nights spent cleaning and disinfecting every item in the pantry, cabinet, closet, etc. On his previous visit the owner told me to reach him on his personal number for any future issues. I did. I explained my frustration and sent pictures. He was apologetic and gracious via text. Soon after someone from the office called to get someone out to me. They offered to come the same day in the afternoon. I explained that I would not be home from work until around 7pm and that this is the same for me almost every day of the week. I took time off of work already on 4 different days to be there for them to treat the unit. 4 days worth of money I have already lost and now they are asking me to take off another afternoon and on the same day. They then offer Saturday. I explained that I still get home around 7pm and it will not be easy for me to again, take off. I ask if there is any way to get a later appt. I was told the receptionist would check with the technician and get back to me. I waited. Instead of getting back to me, someone called my landlord and said that they would not be servicing the unit anymore. They quit! Just like that. I was taken aback that this was the response to not being able to fulfill your contract. Not only did they not do get rid of the mice, they refused to finish a job they started. Furthermore, they have not acknowledged the full cost of how much money I have lost due to their inabilities. The total time missed at work coupled with the items I have had to dispose of is a great cost that only I have had to incur. The word "warranty" just doesn't mean too much to this company. There was obviously something that was still overlooked in their assessment and treating of the unit. After Cliff quit I, myself caught 2 mice on an old fashioned sticky trap and I guess this is my reality since this company ironically, "left me hanging" even though their company literature says they never would. read more

I appreciated the service I received from District Rodent Authority. When I called we had just removed the 5th rat from our apartment (4 in the last few months). I was able to get a next day appointment, and the technician arrived on time, was pleasant and gave an assessment of what was needed, working with us to ensure that our plan was safe for our 2 year old granddaughter, who lives in the unit. A technician returned the next day, again on time, and provided the service as planned. I was also able to reach office staff easily when I had questions and concerns. Their customer service was excellent - they were prompt in getting back to me following my initial inquiry and answered my many questions kindly. Great customer service! Chris came by for an inspection and was terrific. He explained everything really well and was super courteous and knowledgeable. I did move forward with DRA, but right after I scheduled the work to be done, I found out my building is actually doing the same thing on their dime, so decided to cancel my appt with DRA.
