I recently attended my brother's wedding where Jason Canaan was hired to DJ this formal event…read more To begin with, I observed Jason Canaan arrive at the venue at 4:33pm for a wedding scheduled to begin at 4pm. He was scheduled to arrive at the venue at 2pm. The wedding venue was outdoors it was quite cold this particular afternoon and the guest were already seated.....waiting on the DJ. Not only did Jason Canaan appear more than 30 minutes after the event was to begin, he was not prepared and dressed in basketball shorts for a formal event. I sat in my formal wear outdoors at the wedding site freezing while waiting for him to set up. When he was set up, the Groom and his men proceeded to the wedding site, only to be followed by a long pause while Jason Canaan starred into his laptop (I assume he was looking for music.) Once the bridemaids walked down the aisle there was another more than uncomfortable long pause (estimating more than five minutes) while we waited for Jason Canaan to play the music for the bride to walk done the aisle. Finally, the Groom began to sing "Stand By Me," because there was no music and the DJ continued to stare at his computer screen. I don't often write reviews, but this experience was so bad, I felt compelled to share with others. The only reason I am giving the guy one star is there is not a zero star option.

My first issue came soon thereafter with his deferrals in providing me with the planning tool. From May 5 to August 2, 8 attempts to request this information via email/text message/phone were fruitless. He answered my correspondence, only to delay in sending. I had read a couple reviews that he had come unprepared to other sites, so I was sure to provide him with an itinerary, contact sheet, diagrams of the location, and CD's with the music that I had chosen. Infotainment LLC was contracted to provide DJ services during the reception, amplification of ceremony participants, guitarist amplification, music during the outdoor cocktail hour, and 36 purple up-lights. We were scheduled to meet the Tuesday before the wedding when he changed the date to Wednesday and was 30 minutes late. We went over all of the details (music, amplification, layout) at which point he noted he would arrive between 12:00N and 1:00PM to set up for the 4:30PM ceremony. Unfortunately, Jason showed up in shorts and a tee shirt (he eventually changed) at 4:35PM, as my guests were seated for the ceremony. We waited an additional 25 minutes for him to set up the amplification equipment, which was ultimately a mistake as the equipment did not function. Due to Jason's lack of punctuality, no part of the ceremony was amplified. Music was not provided during the outdoor cocktail hour. Only 15-18 (according to the photos) of the 36 up-lights were provided. After politely expressing my dissatisfaction, I continually received responses that would postpone his answer to my request for a partial refund. I was hesitant to write this review, but Jason Canaan never even apologized to me after the above events. I hope I can prevent a similar occurrence for other brides.

The dance floor was packed all night--to the point that we extended the reception an extra hour because it would have been unfair to stop everyone from having such an amazing time! Scott's ability to balance our personal music preferences with songs that kept every guest dancing was truly impressive. He brought such great energy to the night and played a huge part in making our wedding so memorable. We highly recommend Scott for any wedding or event--you will not be disappointed!

My wife and I both love soul music, R&B and hip hop and we get kind of annoyed by super pop-py music. But our wedding was a mixed crowd, with older guests that loved old school soul and younger friends that loved pop and anything that equaled a party. In our first meeting, we provided a long list of songs that described our vibe and Shawn said, "Based on what you'd already told me, I would've played these songs anyway." We talked a few weeks before the wedding to discuss the wedding timeline and he requested that we narrow our list to 5 must-plays and he'd do the rest. On the wedding day he definitely delivered. He played slow jam music for dinner, great as background music. For dancing, he mixed songs together perfectly keeping everyone guessing and excited for what song was next, while also packing in as many songs as possible. He played songs that my wife and I love, that we never even thought to put on our original list. We kept thinking, "How did he know to play that song?" And we weren't the only ones. Shawn catered to everyone's interests without sacrificing the mood we desired for the wedding. The guests stayed on the dance floor the ENTIRE night. He also provided sound and mics for the ceremony and generously coordinated ahead of time with our videographer so that he could record the ceremony sound for our wedding video. Ultimately, I can't say enough about how great Shawn was. Music can be the backbone of your wedding day and he achieved a soulful, comfy and classy dinner mood, followed by an awesome, yet family-friendly party on the dance floor. For any occasion, Shawn listens, cares and can deliver based on your preferences. He takes his work seriously and works hard to provide the soundtrack for your day that fits you. I should add that Elite Mixers, was by far, the most affordable DJ we came across.

Not only did they make me feel comfortable and excited with their presence but Kia also helped with our timeline in a way that made everything go extremely smoothly. When him Conor and I. Had a meeting couple weeks before the wedding. We were struggling with the timeline of everything and how we're going to incorporate the Persian ceremony with American ceremony and Kia was able to explain how it will be done so effortlessly. As for the actual music, we sent a couple ideas what we wanted the night to be like in Kia couldn't be more perfect in his effortless djing and MCing. And Farzan was a tremendous add, I am so happy We have also had him to compliment Kia. Everyone we spoke to after the wedding could not stop raving about both of them. Also both of their extremely positive attitudes was a cherry on top- they were truly a huge part of the night and couldn't have gone as smooth as it did without them. I need Kia to make a playlist on everything he did because OBSESSED. My maid of honor getting married next year also using Kia also said she is now soooo excited to use you guys!

How Absolute Entertainment almost ruined my wedding…read more So, I should start by saying how I was lured in by the personable phone conversation I had with Gordon Thorn in May. My fiancé and I went to the building in Hanover and were so impressed by his demeanor and sound test. He told us that he had availability for our wedding date and we signed a contract with Absolute the same day! He even gave us a discount because we were both teachers. Then the nightmares started. About two months later, we received a phone call from Gordon notifying us that he was not going to be able to play our reception, but he assured us that he had another DJ who was available. Once again, we drove out to Hanover to hear the other DJ. We got another contract for the same price and were finally content that everything would work out. We were told that we had until August 29th to pay to receive the "pay in full" discount. We sent our check in on August 24th and noticed that it had not been deducted from our account by Sept 1. We called to make sure that they had received our check; they had. Apparently, they were waiting to deposit the check because THE DJ HAD BACKED OUT. ONCE AGAIN, WE WERE WITHOUT A DJ FROM ABSOLUTE. By this point, my ceremony date was fewer than 30 days away. My biggest concern is not that we were without a DJ but that no one from the company had bothered to call us. We called to inquire about our check and were given this information. Absolute told us that they would have the problem resolved by the end of the week. Labor Day weekend came and went with no response from them. I called and left messages last week and received no call backs at all. Finally, this evening, we received a call from them. I have no idea what they wanted. The $1300 check we sent them has long been cancelled. My wedding is in 19 days, and I can't imagine what they could have had to say. This could have been a nightmare. They obviously didn't want my business. Don't give them yours.

We wanted to transition from jazz to modern lounge music at dinner (ala Thievery Corporation), which isn't really all that common at weddings. We also wanted a DJ who could seamlessly transition from typical Top-40s to Colombian music while keeping the dance floor packed, given my husband's many Colombian relatives who were there. I have NEVER been to a wedding where the dance floor remained so packed all night long, and I don't think I'm being biased. Chris took a lot of time to get a feel for our tastes, and more importantly, took note of what we did NOT want (cheesy slow songs and line dances were a no-no for us). He also provided some great suggestions, all of which wound up being hits with the crowd. Chris really kept the party going. He knew just what songs to play, and happened to find a way to interrupt the dancing (for cake cutting, etc) without killing the mood. I can honestly say that none of our friends wanted the night to end- and so many people (friends and family alike) commented that Chris was the best DJ they had ever seen/heard! Chris, if you're reading this, THANK YOU. We are your #1 fans!

One of the biggest things my husband and I wanted for our wedding was to have a good time and party the entire reception and that's exactly what we got. Kyle did amazing - we gave him an idea of the vibe we wanted and a couple of song suggestions and he took that and went above and beyond. We gave him complete control to pick the music for cocktail hour and dinner and it was awesome. I could feel the fun energy during cocktail hour, even though I was getting pictures taken in another location. Hiring Mixing Maryland was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They were not only amazing at what they do, but they were wonderful to work with. They even helped me figure out some timeline logistics with my coordinator because we wanted everything to flow smoothly and have maximum time on the dancefloor. I'm also a COVID bride and we had to reschedule my wedding from October 2020. They were extremely flexible and communicative during that time and we worked together to find a new date that worked for my vendors. They made everything super easy. If you want a good time at your wedding or party - hire Mixing Maryland. You will not be disappointed!!

    Washington Talent Agency

    (28 reviews)

PLEASE READ, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE PLANNING EVENTS INCLUDING YOUTH!…read more Crushing Colonialism, a nonprofit based in DC, used Washington Talent Agency (WTA) for two nights full of major international hybrid in-person and livestream events in May and June 2025. They made promises they couldn't keep and the quality of work was awful. They were horrendous at communication. The worst incident that occurred was p0rn being played by some hateful viewers during our live stream because they didn't follow our instructions to deny mic, camera, and chat access for viewers. The person we originally spoke with, Sam, seemed incredibly friendly and excited to support our organization. He said that they could do the work that we required and they worked with our very limited budget. We were so excited to move forward with WTA. We hired them to do photography, videography, and hybrid/live-streaming during two nights of international events. We had many higher level needs that were clearly expressed to them in numerous meetings, emails, and contracts, which included zooming in a couple or speakers, spotlighting ASL interpreters in the live stream, playing films in the zoom livestream as opposed to a camera fixed on the screen in the theater, and ensuring that viewers were easily able to access our language interpreters. They did almost none of this. They were also supposed to give us a high-quality video copy of the events and they didn't. We had to spend a great deal on an editor who could only correct so much. There were plans to use some of the footage for a documentary and WTA knew that. Their volume settings were incorrect in the zoom so people watching the zoom weren't able to hear things properly at the higher quality the in-person audience experienced. The photographer was pretty good, but there were so many photos that weren't taken during one night of performances. Our organization and the communities we serve have been denied an important part of our archival efforts to preserve our culture. The person assigned to our event wouldn't respond to anyone's emails or phone calls, including our language coordinator, who said that the primary reason we had so many problems with language access during the event was because WTA wouldn't respond to emails. As a result, the required coordination between all parties didn't occur. BUT THE WORST is that they didn't set the zoom link to private for the viewing public, despite being told repeatedly that they had to do this for fear of hate speech or other inappropriate and harmful actions occurring. Well, that happened, including people playing p0rn in the livestream. Our events included youth. No one at WTA had the decency to contact anyone at the organization after this happened. I had to contact Sam and tell him everything that went wrong, including his person making some rude and unprofessional comments about our event, including that he told others at WTA to not accept our event. I asked for a 50% refund, which frankly we should've been given a full refund since they didn't meet their contractual obligation and caused significant harm to online event viewers and our organization's reputation. But Sam refused to even ask his boss. Not only did they rip us off and mistreat us, but we're still heartbroken regarding how much our communities lost because of their incompetence, carelessness, and awful behavior.

I applied weeks ago and only received one email that I would be hired after a quick phone call interview. I waited for days , never heard from the guy. He goes by MC Tee as seen under the profiles of MCs. I decided to give him a ring since I knew the event was coming up on Saturday the day before Easter even though I was to be out of town for family I was really dedicated to my job and wanted to make a good impression. He picked up and stated that he totally forgot about me and sending me the info to the party. He said call time was at 5pm At this time it was 4:30pm (sheesh) and all the way in Reston Va. I told him I'll do my best and be there at 6pm He said perfect. I arrived at the location 6pm.I texted and called him several times for the room number. Never got it. The hotel staff kindly directed me to the party room. I saw MC Tee on stage and he didn't acknowledge me until almost 7 pm. No training no plan no nothing I just jumped in and started dancing and entertaining. During half-time One of the dancers quit and left home early for reasons unknown to me. They kept that on the low on purpose. I was told by Mc Tee that since he left I would get his tip which was $50 He took it out his wallet handed to Mc Tee and he handed it to me. I was then told I'd be bumped up from trainee at $75 per event to full time which is $150 for that day. So that would mean I would be compensated a total of $200 for the night correct? Wrong. I went all night in high heels all black because I wasn't told what to properly wear at this event. Mc Tee laughed it off while I was in discretionary pain all night. I learned the dance moves on my own and integrated with the kids all night. I was also told by Mc Tee to shut the Vendors down during critical times during the ceremony (which is not my job) He kept yelling at them on the mic. There was so much drama the whole night I stuck it out and completed my services. He did not pay me by end of night So I only went home with a tip. When I woke up next morning I found $$75 in my cashapp wallet. Huh? Wheres my remaining $75. I did this company a solid and all I got was threats insults and name calling from MC Tee refusing to pay me. I will never work for this company again It's rude abusive and they do not pay their workers. I was even told my "tip" was included in compensation lol They are nuts I am highly disappointed after helping them out and will be seeking legal counsel to get my remaining monies.Rude Disgusting and Lazy Do not hire Mc Tee!
