Gary is awesome!!! We hired him to dj our wedding on 05/26/12. I had previously heard him dj at my cousin's wedding a few years prior where he wowed me by mixing in the "COPS" them song when a helicopter was shining a light at her outdoor reception. Very comedic solution to the unusual event of a police helicopter interrupting a wedding reception. I was one of those brides that wants to do as much as I can on my own so I decided not to hire a wedding planner not even one for the day of. Who needs a day of planner when you have Gary? He asked me for a timeline to discuss when things would happen during the reception. I told him I had no idea and within 10 minutes we had a timeline for the grand entrance, dinner, toast, first dance, parent dances, garter/bouquet toss and cake cutting. Awesome!!! We also discussed all of our songs for the grand entrance and dances. He also plays them for you and if he doesn't have a song he'll ask your the artist's name so he can get it. We did have a bit of a problem with our 1st dance because I changed the first dance song and he ended up playing the wrong song. But it wasn't his fault because neither he nor I had any idea that there were 2 versions of the song by the same artist. He quickly remedied the situation by playing our 1st choice for the first dance song. But being a determined bride (or slightly bridezilla) I immediately pulled out my ipod out of my purse so we could have the song. (Don't ask me why I had an ipod or a purse, I just did.) I REALLLLY cared about the 1st dance. So if you decide to change your song after your initial meeting make sure you have the right version of it. My family was being kind of lame but the grooms family was definitely taking advantage of the awesome music. We have really varied taste in music and then you throw in the spanish music and it becomes even crazier. Not a problem for Gary. He even made sure that our banned music, aka - Single Ladies, was not played, not even by request. The best part of the night was that he's was able to let us have fun with our guests. A member of our bridal party is named Eric Estrada so we decided to have him play the CHIPS them song when his name was announced. I'm not sure if our guests got the joke but the groom and I loved it. Oh, I almost forgot, Gary wase there way earlier than you we paid him to be because he wants to make sure he's ready. He also wanted to be there in case our Mariachi didn't show. Gary is also good at coordinating with the venue staff to make sure everything runs smoothly and checks in regularly to make sure everything is ok. I found out about DJ Gary at a birthday party i went to and i really liked how he played a diverse range of music for all the people there to enjoy. I really enjoyed his music and lights he had, so chose DJ Gary to dj my "Glow in the Dark" themed party. Weeks before the party, he asked me a lot of questions and made sure he knew everything about the party, and accepted all sorts of music requests, it was great how he knew just the right things to ask; you can tell he is a professional. The day of the party, he came 2 hours early free of charge to set up the system, and the lights. It looked amazing!!! We had a full light show, DJ Gary's Music for 5 hours (7pm-12am), all for a VERY great price. He played every single song we requested. And he made sure everyone was having fun and on the dance floor. I liked that he catered to everyones musical taste, even though it was mainly teens, he got the older adults on the floor too! Gary DJ'd our wedding in July 2010 and he did an absolutely amazing job. We discovered him at a bridal show where we were having our wedding. We decided on hiring him as our DJ based on the music he was playing and his demeanor that night. Before our event he sat down with us on several occasions to come up with an itinerary for our wedding night as well as a list of music. He has an enormous music library and was able to sample songs for us that he felt would be a good addition to the songs we had requested. For our first dance song we wanted a specific version of a popular wedding song. Although he didn't have the exact version we wanted, he went out of his way to get it and was able to play it for us. During our wedding Gary did a phenomenal job working with our photographer and the wait staff to make sure that the night progressed smoothly and according to schedule. He also approached us several times throughout the night to make sure we were happy with how the night was coming along and asked if he could do anything to make it better. Throughout the night neither me, nor my wife, heard Gary play a song that we didn't like. He did an amazing job of reading the dance floor and playing music that kept people out of their seats and on the floor. His sound system was loud and powerful enough to fill the room without being over the top. We received several comments from our guests specifically complimenting Gary as the best wedding DJ they've ever heard, and we feel the same way too. To us, Gary filled a role larger than just being a DJ and we thank him for taking control of the night and keeping our wedding fun and our guests entertained. Gary was always easy to get in contact with whether it was by phone or e-mail. Anytime we had a request, suggestion, or wanted to make a change to our itinerary he was quick to respond and always attentive to our needs. He was even OK with us moving up our wedding date by one month after we had already booked him for a Saturday in August. DJ Gary wowed from the first meeting. You could tell from the beginning that he had been doing this for many years. It was a long meeting but it definitely helped because he helped us create a timeline for the wedding. Which we didn't even have.We felt so unprepared. Gary is more than just a DJ, he was like a wedding planner. He helped us pick out music for the ceremony, to the cocktail hour to the dancing. We liked how he started playing music and we just let him know which we liked and which we didn't and from there we created a playlist for throughout the whole day. At first I had to admit we thought he would be expensive. But he ended up being pretty affordable and great at what he did. He was very prompt the day of the wedding. He arrived there 30 mins early and talked with our Officiant. In the second meeting Gary even went above and beyond to make a custom song for me to walk down the aisle to. We liked this one song from youtube but it was kind of cheesy. So he had his friend who played the piano create a better and clearer version of the song and recorded it for us. It turned out beautiful! Day of the wedding he brought his own equipment and some lighting. It sounded and looked great! During the meeting he had asked us what our theme colors were and he matched it on the day of. The playlist went well and on point that the music sounded great! We liked that he played music for everyone's taste and we really loved it! Everything went great as planned and coordinated on the timeline like our grand entrance song, first dance, the toast, and etc. We had a blast dancing on the dance floor, So much so that my calves hurt the next morning!! He was a great DJ overall and more as mentioned above! For food we had buffet style and he even directed people when to go so no one ran over themselves to go get food. We can't thank him enough. Gary was great! He played at my aunts 50th birthday celebration. The party had a country western theme and he played a wide variety of country songs.
