After much thought on planning for my party, I am so stOked with my decision to hire iDJ Entertainment to prOvide DJ and music for my 50th Birthday Bash. My now wife and I had planned a small Indian reception (~60 people. Shocking, I know) at a Culver City restaurant. We planned everything ourselves in the months leading up to the big day in October 2023. Initially, given the small guest list and size of the venue, neither of us felt strongly about getting a DJ so this item was pushed way down on our priority list. Approximately 3 weeks before the reception, we of course realized that we absolutely wanted a DJ. What were we thinking?! There was no way we were going to leave the music in the hands of an all-to-honest uncle, a sibling with the attention span of a rabbit, or a well-meaning but oft-drunk friend (these are all real people, unfortunately). The panic set in earnestly once we realized our folly. Frantically, we began by searching for "Indian DJs" on google. Try doing this yourself if you want to get scared out of hiring a DJ. Most of them won't even spend the time to discuss details with you once they realize that the wedding is a few weeks away and that the guest list is not 300+ people. Again, the former was totally our fault for being unprepared. Enter: Marcos. We found Marcos on Yelp. We called him and left him a message. Shockingly, he called back within the hour himself! He spent the first few minutes simply reassuring us that though we were attempting to procure his services at the 11th hour, he was not only free on the day we needed a DJ but that he himself (rather than one of his partners) would be our guy. We were not exactly desperate as we had heard back from a couple other DJs by then. However, once we got off the call with Marcos, both of us knew that he was our guy. He was calming, assertive, professional, and asked very astute questions. Most of all - based on the questions he asked and comments he made - you could tell he was not only comfortable DJ'ing an Indian reception but that he'd done it with much aplomb previously. He also mentioned that he felt completely comfortable not only spinning music but also performing hosting/MC duties for the entire evening should we wish. He sent us an intro packet that same evening, which was lovely and quite thorough. I will also state that he was INCREDIBLY RESPONSIVE both via e-mail and via text. I will now skip to the event but I do want to stress that speaking with Marcos on that first day was like taking some Xanax (I am just guessing here): afterwards we were calm, relaxed, and felt ready to ENJOY the event we had spent so much time and effort planning. One last thing: We went through a full run-down of the evening with Marcos a few days before. This was so helpful to us. He even liaised with our day-of planner on his own to be better prepared for our event. I know this is a lot of preamble to the main event. However, a lot of the reviews don't actually mention this part. It was the early conversations that allowed us to build rapport and trust with Marcos. And we are here to tell you that he is a real gem and a genuine good human. As for the event, it was ALL the glowing things you have read from others and more. Just so you know, Marcos is not actually Indian. But I am convinced that the 'i' in iDJ Entertainment stands for exactly that. As many have stated, the music was the real highlight of the night. He threw in songs from all the artists we recommended but blended them so beautifully with everything else. He was somber and understated during the speeches and (appropriately) wild during the dancing. He was an excellent host who spoke with a clear, commanding voice. He timed everything so incredibly well. We had divided each hour of the reception into 15 min blocks of time (no we aren't crazy I promise) and he did not skip a single beat. Even my generally stoic father was captured gently swaying to the tracks. Marcos, if you read this, you are the biggest reason our reception was the Party Of The Year for all our guests. He showed up early and was extremely meticulous with every aspect of the events timeline, announcements, and timing down to the millisecond with our first dance which was choreographed. My only wish for my wedding was that the dancefloor was popping off the entire night, and DJ Marcos gave us exactly that! Our dance floor legit wasn't big enough to hold everyone because literally every single person wanted to dance -- it was completely overflowing until the very last second of the night! We had numerous dance-offs and Marcos kept the party going the whole time. My family takes wedding reception dancing and music very seriously and they were so happy that our DJ/MC knew to play all their jams at exactly the right time LOL.
