As a disclaimer, we only booked emcee and DJ service out of the various services they offer. This review is long overdue considering my husband and I got married January of 2025. We found Spotlight Groove through Yelp during our search for an emcee who could service in both English and Cantonese since my husband is Filipino (most of his family speak and understand English) and mine is Chinese, with many not being able to understand enough English to have our event only in English. This was on very short notice but upon receiving a prompt response to our inquiry from Jonsen, the DJ, we were informed that our wedding date was available and that we could have a meeting via Zoom to discuss. Our first impression of Jonsen was that he was very pleasant and his explanation of the services they offered and breaking down the steps of how everything would work helped ease our nerves amidst the chaos of wedding reception planning. We were met with even more pleasant surprises on the day of our event and seeing how amazing the emcee was at hosting, with just the right amount of charm and humor and knowing the right moments to switch up the languages. Had my wedding 3 days ago, and I just got the pictures from the photobooth now, super fast. Jonsen is very professional in everything, from counselling on what to do, how to choose the songs, what to expect, etc. Even when my groomsmen requested some changes last minute, Jonsen responded right away and helped us. Jonsen came well recommended by our wedding venue (Hilton San Gabriel) as he has done many events in the San Gabriel Valley region. From the start, he was very relaxed, gave us clear options, informed us of deadlines, and was very friendly to work with. We had several additional requests because of performances and other special aspects throughout the wedding reception and he met those (somewhat demanding) requests with ease! We had a lot that we wanted to include and everything turned out seamlessly. I requested a Cantonese and English speaking MC/DJ and they were both amazing. The services that we used were lighting, draping, dance floor, and photobooth. In the middle of planning, we realized we wanted a larger dance floor, which was no problem for Jonsen to get completed. The wedding planning process is so stressful, so to have a vendor that is easily able to execute your visions (even when they change) is so important. Shady! Beware of their faulty equipment and unethical business practices. Prior to our wedding in September, our wedding planner advised us to get some uplights, dance floor lighting , etc. I found Spotlight Groove on Yelp and based on their ratings I thought they would be reliable but I was so wrong. I had my fiancé at the time reach out to Jonsen and they agreed set up lighting at our venue from 6pm - 12am for a reasonable price, so we thought. He asked that we make partial payment upfront, they wanted Venmo only (red flag). The day of the wedding, our venue looked gorgeous. The lighting really made a difference. Then at around 8:45pm (not even 3 hrs in) all of the uplights went out. I thought that someone turned it off and kept asking about it not knowing that they malfunctioned. They were off the rest of the night and it even shows in the photos. We found out later that our wedding planner reached out to him right away but Jonsen said that he was far away and won't be able to make it back for another 3 hrs.. which is when our wedding reception ends. The next morning, Jonsen reached out to my husband to ask for the rest of the payment in full. Keep in mind, at this point he was well aware of the malfunction majority of the lights. However we did not know yet that it was due to malfunctions and that our wedding planner already reached out to him right when it happened, so we paid the rest to him in full. Our wedding planner then told us what happens and asked Jonsen to refund us a portion of our payment. Instead of him contacting us or trying to come to an agreement with our wedding planner, he just venmoed us $100, which was less than 10% of what we paid. We tried to reach out to him, but he would not respond or try to remedy this and it's been over 2 weeks. Now we both just felt like we were played by them. Writing this really review really late but Spotlight Groove Productions and especially DJ Jonsen really deserve it. My head was not in the right space for the past two years because I felt like our wedding day was ruined and the guilt and other emotions led me down a dark path. Our wedding was far from perfect, the day went down without a problem but family made the pre- wedding days like hell, BUT the best part of our wedding were our vendors especially DJ Jonsen and his team. They brought over vision to life and helped us with our last minute adjustments and made the day seamless. We hired them for our May 2022 wedding at the Rose Center in Westminster and communicated with us perfectly! Not only did they bring our vision to life, but we also hired DJ Jonsen to be there the entire night to play our music and he was really attentive. We met with him a couple months before our wedding and he asked as many questions about what kind of songs we would like to play and what we don't want to hear that night. I would recommend them to anyone that wants someone that wants a beautiful wedding/ party without any worries! We hired spotlight groove as our DJ/MC and draping for our Wedding at Capital Seafood in Monterey Park. They did a great job in transforming the restaurant into something much more elegant and beautiful in our pictures. They draped the pillars in the front of the restaurant, that we used for a entrance photo background. As well as completing our sweet heart table backdrop. We were so grateful to have an MC that was multi-lingual to bridge the language barrier between our parentals and friends. Thanks spotlight groove! read more

Jonsen did an amazing job at my wedding for the lighting. I reached out to them originally because I saw the great reviews that they had. They give me different packages and I went with the uplighting, 2 pillars with moving lights and a monogram. The communication I had with Jonsen was perfect, he was always responsive and answered all my questions. Their company address is also basically across the street from the venue I was having my wedding at so everything was convenient. Jonsen came early to prepare and also showed me how to operate the lights with the controller when I wanted the strobe or different lights effect. After the wedding, they took about 45 minutes to completely dismantle everything. We were happy with how everything came out and the amazing lighting we had during our wedding. read more

We recommend Spotlight Groove Production for all your wedding needs. Although we only used the DJ service, Jonsen played a diverse range of music from English, Spanish and everything in between. He did a great job for our ranch wedding, everyone enjoyed it. read more
