After having a horrible experience booking a DJ for our wedding (our first DJ flaked on us), my then-fiance and I had to start looking for a DJ for our wedding with only 6 months to go. We went online and looked all over, met with over 10 DJ services, and couldn't find the right fit. Then, we met with Dennis from A DJ For You, recommended by our videographer, and we were set. Dennis is absolutely wonderful. He drove to meet us before we'd even signed a contract, and was just great to talk to. It wasn't a hard-sell consultation, just a nice chat about weddings, music, lighting, and what he could do for us. He gave us some ideas of pricing, and we were able to pick a deluxe package with great lights without any hidden costs or fees. They gave us a loaner iPod that had a ton of popular wedding songs, in addition to some planning tools. We were able to design as much or as little of our reception as we wanted to. Dennis met with us before the wedding to go over the intros and over the songs we picked, and really made us look forward to our day. Then, the night before the wedding, I panicked. I thought about a bunch of songs we'd wanted played at the reception, and had forgotten to email Dennis. At 11:30 p.m. the night before my wedding, I emailed Dennis with a list of songs we'd forgotten to send him, but that I would understand if he couldn't play them or get them due to the short notice. Dennis delivered - and each of those special requests was played. Dennis also brought an assistant with to our wedding, who was equally personable and very helpful to me as the bride. People have told us how they have never danced so much at a wedding, or how they've never seen so many people on a dance floor at a wedding. It was a GREAT time. after contacting DJs 4 You and getting a pretty immediate response, we set up a meeting with Benny, who was willing to meet us somewhere convenient (such a perk when you're having to run around so much with wedding planning). We met him at a local Starbucks and started talking about our love story. This lead into some productive conversations about where we should honeymoon- something we'd be having trouble deciding on. After getting his advice and learning a little about him (my fiancé and him bonded over their love of tinkering with cars)- we got down to details. We looked at the different packages offered and Benny helped chose the one that fit our needs. He was extremely likable and we liked his DJ philosophy to work the crowd (I won't give it away- book him to find out). We decided on the car ride home that we were both excited to work with Benny. We immediately got the DJ tools but let them sit in our inbox for quite some time. When we were a few weeks out, we decided to sit down and make all our final DJ decisions- from there, we did a final call with Benny, running though our choices and all wedding party names. Dennis was fantastic for our recent wedding in Oak Park. We had gotten a late start at planning and were on a budget, so that made finding a DJ for our event a little bit of a challenge. We had met a few DJs at different wedding shows, and were floored when each one quoted us double what Dennis quoted. We were having a smaller wedding in a small room, and I didn't want something that would overpower the room, but I wanted the music to tell our story and to be special. Dennis achieved this and more for our wedding. He met us at his home prior to us signing the contract, explained how his services would work and made everything crystal clear. He also gave us some great advice on other wedding-related things that we hadn't considered. Dennis provided a very clear contract and explained how their DJ software worked where we would set up the songs we wanted, didn't want and everything in between. My fiance and I had a great time picking out the soundtrack to our wedding using the software. It got the job done, but the only suggestion I have would be that it could be easier to move back and forth to the different screens. The day of our wedding was perfect. I know the songs that were played were mostly on us, but everyone commented on how great of a music selection we had chosen. We had really taken the time to think it out and I think it led to more people dancing and enjoying themselves at the reception. He was great with timing, entertaining and personable. Great Dj's! We got Greg for our wedding, and he was awesome & made my life easier!! First we met him at the bridal show, and we instantly got along. He was relaxed and very professional. About a month later we decided to hire a DJ after all, and after getting some price quotes from a few different places, I still went back to Greg & the great impression he gave both me and my husband. Super smooth experience. We met up to get coffee, we disused the when's & where's. Intro's/Announcements (name pronunciations), and the toast to be made... The play list... the DO NOT play list (in case we didn't care for anything in particular) He even was willing to be my buffer if the drunk crowd requested something out of line. (Which wasn't a problem, but the fact that he as a professional was willing to take that heat for us, so we wouldn't have to deal with the petty stuff on our wedding day showed how much he cared about our experience.) I had only one child at my wedding, my 6 year old nephew that was my ring bearer. Loving all the buttons and lights at his DJ station he wanted to hang out with Greg all night, and Greg even let him wear his head phones and play with the stuff he wouldn't hurt. Greg was amazing! He went above and beyond for us at our wedding last month. He was very energetic and got the crowd dancing! He knew that when we got to the reception venue our photographer was getting pictures of us on the stairway, and Greg saw that the stairway was dirty and full of empty drink glasses and he starting cleaning and sweeping the stairs so we could get the most out of our pictures, and he did this without being asked. I contacted DJs for You about 5 months before my wedding based off a recommendation from my photographer. I live out of state and was stressing about booking vendors for my big day. As soon as I contacted and talked with Dennis I knew I was going to book them. He set me up with Benny immediately and I'm glad he did. Benny not only responds quickly but is also the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Because this is his full time job he puts his all into his work. When I was in town a week before the wedding to finalize details, Benny was as professional as one can be and made me feel comfortable with the schedule of the big day. Dennis and DJs For You did an amazing job for our wedding day. It was through reading reviews that we discovered and ultimately chose DJs For You, so it is only fitting that we leave a review to sway you as well. From day one Dennis walked us through the entire process. There was no pressure to sign any contract with him or hounding phone calls that you will get with a majority of the other DJ companies out there. Dennis found a time that worked for us later in the evening for our initial meeting. He asked us what we were looking for and what kind of equipment we would need. He was able to easily accommodate all of our requests regarding equipment for our ceremony and reception. He even supplies up-lighting and customizes your name in lights on the dance floor, both made our reception hall feel even more special. His online planning tools are also easy to use and made choosing our songs for introductions, special dances, cake cutting, etc. a lot less stressful than we had anticipated. You can choose as many songs as you would like to have played for dancing (we decided to leave this part mostly up to Dennis though) and there is even an option for a 'do not play' list which we also appreciated. Dennis kept the dance floor busy from the minute it opened until the last dance of the evening. Family and friends are still telling us about how much they enjoyed the reception (thanks to Dennis). He clearly knows how to read the crowd and keep people interested. I have been to many weddings where the music is good but not "danceable," that was definitely not the case for our big day. DJ Greg Hoover was awesome! We are so glad we decided to book him for our wedding. He was so friendly at our meeting and really seemed to understand what we were looking for and had some great ideas. He was very responsive and great to work with leading up to our wedding. We met him once in person, talked mostly through email, and then spoke on the phone a few days before our wedding to finalize names and everything. We really didn't have to give him too much direction as far as music. We gave him genres we wanted to hear, had a few on the "Do not play list," and a couple must plays. He filled in the rest, and did a fantastic job! I danced all night and loved all the music. I was so impressed! The up-lighting he provided was also beautiful. He was also a great MC.
