But last week, I got tickets to "Safety Not Guaranteed" and I am really glad I did. The experience at Signature Theatre was great as was the show. The facility is new and modern. The seats are comfortable. The ushers and others who worked there were knowledgeable and pleasant. The whole audience experience was a complete A+ for me! You know, so many of the other area theaters have become unpleasant in my experience. I used to be a big fan of the Studio Theatre on 14th Street in Washington DC until all of its shows simply preached at me about moral topics, political issues and how I should lead my life as a better person in their opinion. I did not like it and, as a result, they lost me as an audience member. But I am pleased to say that Signature Theatre has gained me as an audience member. I liked everything about it. When I look at the season, I see plays that I actually want to see. And, from the performance I saw of Safety Not Guaranteed, I have experienced a theater that I want to be a part of. The check-in person was super welcoming and told me about some of the other dance formats offered there. This dance studio caters to both children and adults. So you will see kids running around, which is ok, but I am not really used to. The class started on time. The instructor had great energy and encouraged us to have fun and do things our own style. I haven't been dancing in a while, so I knew it would be a good challenge for me. I really had a lot of fun. My only surprise is that the classes are only 60 mins. I think they ought to be 70 minutes to include a proper 5 min warm-up and 5-minute cool-down. There wasn't a lot of warming up in the beginning of this particular class. I've taken adult dance classes for years and I am used to something that include some warm-up movements to get the rotating joints going, like neck rolls, shoulder rolls, and hip and lower back movements. The class did include a relaxing cool down with stretching for the lower body and upper body. I plan to take more Hip-Hop style classes. They offer Cardio Hip-Hop, Beginner Hip-Hip and more advanced levels, Sensual Dance, Twerk, Ballet, Shuffle, Street Jazz and a lot more. I plan to try about 5 more formats and sign-up for one class for the summer session. I highly recommend this place!

It was so nice and cool - which is not true of all DC-area gyms. It was also clean and felt very safe for my first indoors post-pandemic workout. Best of all, the people that worked there were super helpful while being low-key. And it wasn't crowded both times I went, with the customers also seeming to be pretty low-key while being focused on their workout. (No grunting loudly every single rep and slamming weights down at the end of the set, which, any pro will tell you, honestly means you need to take the weights down a bit until you can control them.) I just wish I could transport Energy Club to Southern California. But if you live in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out.

Although we try to hit all the smooth and rhythm dances focusing on bronze level, we often gravitate to rhythm and cha cha; it's my favorite. Although fox trot pointers helped especially when compared to other moves. Dmitri is a professional. He immediately can assess your weak points and strives to make you a better dancer all while making it a pleasant experience! The room is clean and well lit. There is a pole in the middle that is actually useful for demonstrations ("this pole is me, I am you"). I find myself adding more lessons as the competitions approach and now we are working on a showcase cha cha routine. It was impressive how fast he could think of steps to put together to the song I chose (Fireball by Pitbull). In terms of booking, we use text and he's responsive. Payment is easy through Venmo. We also video tape some choreography so that we can continue to build on it and I can refresh inbetween lessons. He also builds a community feeling with events like a Holiday Party which was super fun. A great value, a fun experience. I highly recommend! Oh and parking is free and easy!
