As a parent, some of the things I like about CBA is that dancers get to start performing as young as 3 and the pricing structure is one of the best around. Out of curiosity, I frequently look around at other studios in the area and find CBA maintains some of the lowest prices. All performances are optional for the younger dancers, but this does mean that there will be additional time commitments as required rehearsals are outside regularly scheduled classes. My girls actually see this as a benefit as it means more time dancing.

She came back to her roots and has continued to do an exceptional job at making this studio feel like home and every dancer feel like family. Showcase has 100% become a part of my family's own legacy, where generations have continued to grow and learn technique that carried on throughout, as well as have a familiar place to reflect upon after 20+ years. You can tell their amazing skills, and her dedication to dance and to the kids. THEY ACCEPT BABIES IN DIAPERS - Showcase start their dance classes for 18 month old babies. Yes! This was my first concern for my daughter because she was 3 when she started but no other studio would take her because she wasn't potty trained yet. (i did went to 3 other dance studios around the area and they rejected my daughter because she was still on diapers). In only a few weeks, we don't need diapers as she copied her classmates and learned to potty eventually. PROFESSIONALLY PLANNED RECITALS- These kids are no dance professionals but if you have been to a Showcase Studio recital, you will feel how professionally they have prepared the kids' dances and the whole show preparation and presentation looks amazing. Also, in spite all the great dance numbers, they also have a parent and child dance number (although I never tried it because I don't dance, I enjoy watching kids dance with their parents during recitals) ORGANIZED MEMORY ITEMS- yearbooks, dance pictorials, dance apparels with Showcase is such an important factor of why we love how they value each dancer and create memories as the kids grow. For most parents, this is so very important. CLEAN, CHILD-FRIENDLY and SIBLING-FRIENDLY STUDIO- Showcase now relocated to the new and bigger studio at 11252 Balls Ford Road. And you will be greeted by kind and accomodating faces like Ms Meg, Ms Michelle and Ms Tasha. We don't have issues waiting in the lobby with a 1 year old. They even have books to entertain the dancers' little siblings who are waiting. LEADERSHIP TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES- Showcase Studio dance teachers facilitate leadership trainings for the bigger kids to become assistant dance teachers and eventually become dance teachers themselves like my daughter's ballet teachers Ms Blair and Ms Jenni. Very impressive because of the opportunities for the kids to hone their talents and skills. They also acknowledge the dancers with school awards. This encourages the dancers to do well both in school and in dance. I can go on and on but this is becoming too long of a review. :)

The costumes, dances, performances, and little thoughtful touches such as Nutcracker step-and-repeats, themed snacks and merch, free visits with Santa during intermission really made me think that this was a special school. I've been to several other Nutcracker shows in the area and this one truly blows all other dance schools in the area. I love how they allow small children in the crowd to be part of the party dance scene. It was a LONG show but my five year old and her younger cousins were absolutely entranced the entire time. I can only think of the time, preparation, and dedication it took to put on a show of this caliber. If we lived closer, I would one hundred twenty percent enroll my daughter here for classes.

Unfortunately, during a long rehearsal, my 7-year-old came to me very upset after the director yelled in front of the full cast and stated that she could be removed if she didn't learn the steps. Since parents are not allowed in the facility during rehearsals, I cannot confirm the exact wording or whether it was directed specifically at her, but the emotional impact was devastating. Prior to this, we had no interactions with the director. This experience made my daughter feel singled out and ashamed in front of her peers and friends. We emailed the director with an official withdrawal notice and explained our concerns. While the director apologized and offered to apologize to my daughter, we declined. We are raising our children to understand that words have power, and we hold ourselves and others accountable for the impact words can have. Because of that, we expect instructors and educators to maintain the highest professional standards. Fear, threats, public criticism, or shaming have no place in teaching any child, and there is absolutely nothing to be gained or learned from this kind of belittling behavior. The only appropriate response is to remove ourselves from any environment where such conduct is considered acceptable. We allowed our daughter to finish the paid recital because she wanted to participate, but ultimately withdrew both of our children (ages 7 and 4). The environment no longer aligned with the values of encouragement, respect, and emotional safety that we expect. As a parent, this was a very difficult conversation to have with my child. We cannot control other people's attitudes or demeanor, but we can control our environment and actions--and we should never be in a place where a child feels that their best isn't good enough, especially for a paid service. This situation should have been handled professionally, with an email or a quick conversation with the parent, which I would expect from someone with "over 20 years" of experience. In today's world, where apologies are often quick and reactive, we aim to raise children who spread kindness, compassion, and bravery. I am very proud of my daughter for feeling safe enough to speak up to me and for continuing to attend rehearsals even though she was nervous and scared. The recital itself was very nice, and it is a shame that we had to withdraw them--but our child's emotional well-being will always be our priority. For these reasons, I will not recommend this studio to family or friends.

The owner Ms Sally has been very good about letting us into Cecchetti so that we could enhance our ballet studies. Now my daughter wants to do both ballet and Cecchetti here! I also appreciate the lower cost structure of Just Dance classes. This is a studio for committed dancers with a supportive but skilled group of ballet dancers.

Our daughter has been attending Just Dance for over 2 years and she LOVES Ms. Sally and Ms…read more Samantha as her instructors. Their energy and attitudes about dance are absolutely fabulous. Most importantly, Sally teaches the girls how to be strong inside and out and builds their self-confidence. She is their mentor as well as their dance teacher. Another important thing about Ms. Sally is the quality of her ballet instruction - she gives proper corrections frequently to all of the students (in a non-criticizing way), and the kids love the personal attention. The advanced classes are just right for challenging the serious dancers. Sally also teaches the Cecchetti method, which helped our daughter's dance ability grow by leaps and bounds. The training our kids get is extremely valuable. Several of Sally's students have successfully auditioned for programs at ABT, Joffrey, and TWSB, and have won scholarships from DanceMasters of VA. Our daughter also takes tap and jazz and loves every minute of it. The students and parents at the studio are very friendly, too. Sally puts on the best dance recital in the area each year (professionally executed) and the joy the kids have when they perform makes the parents burst with pride! Sally and Samantha really help the kids understand that dance is an art form meant to entertain an audience. I'd also have to say the music during dance classes is terrific (I love the Cecchetti music!) and they have a cool rock-n-ballet cd.

Having these classes and camps to look forward to has been a joy for her and for us, and the studio has added a lot of fun to an otherwise housebound summer. My daughter will be taking kindergarten virtually this fall - a decision that tears us apart, but that is necessary for our family. It focuses on a strong ballet foundation, and offers many additional forms of dance. Teachers and office staff are nice and well organized. Between staff and all the girls who take lessons, it is a good nurturing atmosphere. My only complaints are that the school has grown so much that dance recitals are kind of huge. Some classes fill quickly. And some classes are at times that make it hard for a working parent to drive to. (And I wish classes cost a little less because that would make it easier to take more classes.) All in all, though, it's great!
