That was until a friend recommended Mike at Malpigli & Associates. He spent at least half an hour on the phone with me explaining all of my coverage and what each was meant to cover. He showed me that high deductibles are not always the best value and showed me where my coverage could use some improvement and where what I had was good. It became clear pretty quickly that if you only spend 15 minutes on your insurance you are probably missing something important. He took all of my information, explained how the companies underwrite and what they all look for. He promised to get back to me in an hour or two and he called me back in half an hour with rates from three companies that were less than what I was paying with lower deductibles and higher coverage. He recommended a company I had never heard of but came to realize is a great company. (Utica National) He saved me $848 over Geico lowered my deductibles and tripled my coverage. He also gave me rates for Travelers, Hartford and Progressive but Utica was the best for me. He said he would "squish the lizard" and boy did he! I sent my boyfriend to them in April for auto insurance and it took them weeks to finally insure him as many phone calls and messages went unreturned. Months later we attempted to insure our home with them and again it took them weeks to get back to us with a quote. We eventually took our business somewhere else. When I notified them that I wanted to cancel my auto policy the owner herself, Mary Graf told me that she would process my request and see if she can expedite my refund since we needed the money as we were recent home owners. Over 3 weeks went by and I still didn't have a refund so I called the insurance company directly to inquire about the status. I was informed that Mary Graf and her agency never sent my cancellation request to them and the insurance company was scheduled to withdraw my monthly payment from my checking account the next day! Although no one was hurt, damage to the other party's vehicle ran into the thousands for each incident. I NEVER suffered a rate increase, movement into the non-mutual carrier or into the assigned risk pool. The claims have been paid without saying boo!
