We took a couple of months to meet up with other roof companies for quotes and ultimately hired DLS Development. Spencer from DLS Development gave a great pitch, plus the quote was one of the lowest we received from almost all roofing companies. They reached out over a month later to check in and offer an additional discount. Pros: The workers did an excellent job and worked from nearly sunup to sundown. They had a few questions, which I could answer (or get my husband to answer) when I was around. It took about 4 days for them to tear off the old shingles and install the new ones. And it was hot out there! They did the work quickly, professionally, and efficiently! One of the crew members performed a walk-through with my husband once they finished, and my husband was very pleased with the finished product. I feel very grateful looking at my roof now, since the old one was very old. Cons Once we signed the contract and paid the initial deposit, we were told that the permit for our house needed to be pulled and that it would take about a week. Almost two weeks later, I asked the project manager if she had pulled the permit and when the project could begin. She then let me know the roofers would begin the following week. I guess I hoped that the project manager would have reached out to me first to let me know that the permit situation was complete and that they would begin the roofing process. You need to take initiative and find out what's happening, since I've never had a roof replaced before. Next, the project manager informed us they discovered and replaced rotted wood. The project manager sent us a change order for the additional amount, yet the contract did not list any extra charge for rotted wood. Additionally, they had already replaced the "rotted wood" before we signed anything, and they had no clear photos showing any rotted wood. It took a lot of emails and texts back and forth before we reached a resolution we were happy with. Still, it was a headache and frustrating for several days; we had to deal with uncertainty and explanations. Finally, the project manager never confirmed when the inspector for the last inspection would actually come to our house to collect my signature on a form. We didn't know whether we needed to be at home, leave the document out somewhere, or when the process would officially end. I received an email from the project manager asking me to reply and attach the form with my signature, as the inspector had come around but could not collect it because I was not there. I replied to the email with the form and asked the project manager if I needed to do anything else. Only when I reached out again to the general DLS development general email was I told what day the inspector would come around again to collect the form. We're thrilled with the roof and the quality of work, but it would've been less of a headache to have a lot of this information up front without having to keep asking, since I'm unfamiliar with the roof process. I also had to email the general DLS development email, as the project manager was not responding to some questions and concerns as quickly as I would've liked. I know she probably had a million things going on, but it felt like I got a response much quicker once I emailed through the general company email. This was not a cheap project, and I feel like this company lacks clear communication, but their workers and work are absolutely outstanding. read more

Approximately a year after DLS Development finished the complete re-roofing of my house, I discovered that the roof guards/drip edges near my main door threshold and in several other spots were accidentally missed during the installation. I only pinpointed the problem recently (last quarter) when I noticed the area approaching our main door in the mornings following humid nights. Knowing how much time had passed, I fully expected DLS might dismiss my concern. To my amazement, DLS crew promptly arrived and fixed the oversight around my home at no cost. Both were easy to work with, professional, and always answered all questions I had. The roof was completed and looks great. I had one very minor issue I noticed with a rain gutter (not the fault of DLS Development). The rain gutter guide was removed for the roof installation, and I was unsure how to reinstall it without damaging any new roof shingles. I reached out to Daniel, and almost immediately, he had someone at my house, and the minor issue was repaired without question! I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of a new roof. Before the new roof, I obtained quotes from different companies. I thought DLS Development was the best overall from my research, and I am glad I chose them. I will say that one company was slightly cheaper; however, the customer service for that other company was horrible from the start, and the person who provided the quote had the personality of a rock and was unreliable (arriving late for the quote, not apologizing, etc.). Fast forward to August 2025 - I live in Ventura County (Camarillo specifically) and I've noticed the summer season has just been getting a tad bit warmer and warmer with each passing year (homes in my area did not previously have air conditioning as it was not needed, but it is now at times). I decided that my garage and attic were way too warm, and I wanted to ensure I could effectively cool my home and ventilate those areas, in addition to the low-profile vents installed during the 2024 roof installation. I ordered two good-quality attic fans (one for the house attic) and one for the roof above my two-car garage. I again reached out to Sherry to ask about the installation. She had a team at my house the following week, and they installed both fans. I felt the price for the installation was very reasonable. I was satisfied with the installation work, and both workers who completed it were kind and professional. I've already noticed a difference in those areas, specifically in my garage area (no longer feels like getting hit in the face with heat and humidity when going into the garage on a hot summer day). It was time to replace my roof. There were no leaks, however, you could tell the old roof was nearing its lifespan. So I contacted several roofing contractors to get estimates. One hurdle was that we also have solar panels that needed to be removed and reinstalled with this project. Not all roofers provide both services. I did not want to hire two separate companies, one for the roof replacement and another for the removal/reinstall of the solar panels. You don't want two different companies blaming each other if something went wrong. So I narrowed the bids to only roofers that do solar panels as well. After several meetings with different companies, I decided to go with DLS. Spencer, the sales rep who provided the estimate, did a great job explaining the process and materials being used for the project. The price of the project was around the same or even less than the other competitors. They are also a licensed and bonded company. I read stellar reviews of DLS on Yelp, Google, and Thumbtack which also played a factor in choosing them. So we set a date and decided on the style/color of the roof. Sherry, the project manager was exceptional. She was responsive with all my requests and concerns. The whole project took about one week. One day for the solar panels removal and demolition, another couple days to install the new underlayment, shingles, and roof vents. The weekend off. And one more day to reinstall the solar panels. And later in the week, the city inspector came and approved the work. Overall we are very happy with the work done, although you can't completely be confident in a roofing job until it's gone through a few rainy seasons. Only time will tell. I will say, however, they did provide a 30 year manufacturer's warranty on materials and 15 year warranty on workmanship. After experiencing a pretty severe roof leak and after a difficult search, I opted to have DLS Development convert 30+ year old concrete tiles on my roof to asphalt shingles. [Most of the damage in the chimney area] the existing solar panels needed to be removed and reinstalled. The positives. Once finally scheduled [it took about a month or two I assume because of the weather and other jobs], the solar panel removers/installers did a good job of disconnecting and storing the panels, both sets of workers showed up each day and diligently worked and stayed on task while making sure to protect the surrounding area and remove most if not all of the debris. They tarped off the newly cleared roof until it could be finished before leaving for the day. After the new roof was on and with some nudging, the installation crew washed off the panels and reconnected them, while informing us about possible roof concerns. Any final concerns and aesthetics were addressed with management. Areas for improvement. They should provide detailed information regarding the scope of their roofing services, and it should be listed in the contract language. [both what is and what isn't included in the quoted price] It appeared the onsite foreman had limited expertise in some areas, and in that case, they should consider offering reliable referrals or let the owner know they can't make a certain repair that's needed or requested. The project manager needs to provide above-board, clear as crystal communication to the workers and the client. I was there the whole time, and no one came to me to explain what was going on; I had to ask. The client should be provided with detailed explanations and visual documentation of all work done, including, if necessary, where workers will take care of their personal needs and where they will dispose of construction debris. The work should be performed in a way that considers possible future upgrades/additions to the home, and it should include attention to the finish work. [within the scope of the project] They should avoid sending out team members who don't possess good interpersonal skills to avoid a poor customer experience. After speaking with the owner, he stated to me that, as practice, they don't include the homeowner in roofing decisions and don't give them all the options available because most of them don't get that involved. I suggest that unless you as consumer, already know the quality of a contractor's work and their integrity and honesty, then it's not in your best interest to let them work with impunity. Be there to ask questions, and if you don't like the answers or don't want a standard fix, let them know so they can make the appropriate changes, be involved as much as possible and do what needs to be done to make sure you're satisfied with the outcome, after all, you're spending a lot of money to get this done right and to your satisfaction so it doesn't have to be redone. read more

What a disaster!!! The guy that came to give me an estimate went on my roof through the attic and then put his leg through my ceiling from the attic. He stepped on insulation and told me he thought plywood was there. He immediately said that DLS would fix and be in touch in a day or two. Well 12 days later and I had to call them. The supervisor I spoke to was full f excuses why she hadn't called me yet. Unbelievable. Very unprofessional. And my ceiling still has a huge hole in it. BEWARE OF DLS!!! We had a wind storm tear shingles off of our (very old) roof. Inspection showed it lacked plywood sheathing, and was just multiple layers of asphalt shingles on top of old wood shake (a fire hazard). I received estimates from six different roofing companies, and DLS Development Inc. was the only company to give me a quote within our inspector's estimated range (some were as much as 10K over). A couple offered to match, but I liked how easy and straightforward their bid was, and how stellar their reviews were, so I declined those offers. It was a big job to strip all layers and install new 1/2" OSB sheathing as well as the singles, but they finished ahead of schedule in just three days. Workers were professional and took extra care cleaning up the site each day. Daniel and Abraham were wonderful to work with, really appreciated being able to communicate via text (as it's difficult to get away from work during the day to make calls). The new roof looks amazing, I had no idea how much it would improve our home's curb appeal until I saw it finished! Overall I would highly, highly recommend DLS Development Inc.
