People either don't like pain doctors because they don't get immediate relief or they can't get the drugs they think they want or need. I was on large doses of Methadone and Norco for almost 20 years. Dr. Suderman has me down to 3 Norco and injections. Using x-rays to set the needles makes a huge difference, it's repeatable and lessened injection site pain. I currently have deep lumbar injections a couple times a year and 16 trigger point thoracic and lumbar injections 4 times a year (without sedation). They have made a big difference. Educate yourself before you go in, show him exactly where you hurt and work until you find a solution. All the office staff, nurses, OR staff and Heather my PA have been great. I've never had to call to make sure my script is signed. Hang in there and be positive, it's a long, hard road!

When you do repeated injections in the painful area and it doesn't help, he tries to shame you into continuing the injections anyway. If he had bothered to review my prior MRI or order a new MRI (and any good practitioner would have), he would have found that it was referred pain from a severe back problem that can't be fixed with injections and requires surgery. My advice is to try somewhere else that isn't just a needle-jockey mill.

Staff was very nice and checked to see how much longer before I would go into an exam room..said I was next. After waiting an additional 15 minutes, I informed staff I was leaving. I heard them call my name as I was walking out the door but decided I didn't want to deal with the wait every time I needed to return. I'll be looking elsewhere.

I wish I had been able to continue addressing my health problems with Dr. Hegstrand, but we relocated across the country. I haven't been able to find ANYONE like her out here in the West. The only thing they seem to know how to do out here with thyroids is drug 'em up, rip 'em out, then drug you up for the rest of your life. This woman supported me - from across the country - with the thyroid hormone that I needed to maintain a pregnancy.
