My wife and I visited the Fullerton DMV Office today, July 11, 2023, this morning at 9:20 AM. It had been 4 years since doing renewal license business at this location. What a huge positive change compared to 2019. The best part, in and out in an outstanding 40 minutes! The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The Fullerton office is clean, signage and directions are clear, uses newer work stations, is well organized and efficient. The workers appear happy. Importantly, their computers and other electronic devices worked flawlessly. Back in 2019, absolutely nothing worked flawlessly at most CA DMV Offices including computers. Historically, the CA DMV staff had caused a loud, angry, outrage voiced by most California Motorists about the staff's action and or in-action. The "dread" I experienced (my wife just prepared for the worst) after waiting several weeks for the online scheduled appointment was based on our past DMV experiences. Happily, we were wrong and our fears were groundless. This new CA DMV is a much improved organization. Again, great job Fullerton DMV Staff. read more

The staff here are very friendly and organize. I came a Saturday morning which is probably their busiest days since the only DMV open Saturdays in Orange County that I know of. They open at 8am, but the staff came out to start to assists us at around 7:15am. They started reviewing everyone's document and let us inside the facility, directing each person to the corresponding window where they would be helped. They are very well prepared for a busy day and are all very friendly & lively! NOTE: Since it is the only DMV in Orange County opened Saturdays the line got really long quick. I got here at 6:30am and there were already 20 people in line. read more

Showed up at 7:30am it is currently 10:13am. I've wanted an hour maybe a little more just to get in. Got called up to a window maybe 25 minutes later. Since then I've had enough time to download this app. Create the account. Write this complaint. All before a "manager" could "overlook my paperwork". For how long it takes at the DMV, DMV Fullerton was pretty smooth. I went here with my son who is taking his permit test and Yvette Window 10 was personable, professional and has a friendly disposition. Make sure you download and fill out the paperwork ahead of time, and if you can - make an appointment. It's not going to be the quickest of processes, but it will save you some time especially when you're being shuffled from counter to counter. I'm one of those people that lives life on the edge and shows up and hopes for the best. For this location, I usually get there about 45-minutes before they open and there's usually a pretty healthy line already started. About 10-minutes before they open the doors, someone usually comes around and asks what you're there for, they give you a slip of paper and tell you where to go once you enter. Once you get your numbers, that's when the process starts. IDs/drivers licenses tend to take the longest, and without an appointment it's probably a good 90-120 minutes depending on how many people there are. For replacement plates or registrations, it's about an 60-90 mins. If you go in there with the bar already being set low, it's not going to be that bad. But if you think you're going to waltz in there and walk out in a short amount of time, then the joke's on you. It's the DMV. Bring a book, an iPad or anything else to help you pass the time... cause you're in for a bumpy ride. read more

Sent to this desk then that desk was then over to another desk. It was definitely Friday the thirteenth. This DMV office is always packed and very busy. Thanks to the real ID. Now there is a undocumented (illegal imagrant) license and a real ID drivers license. You have to provide three forms of identification when you get the real ID. It is funny how you have to provide so much to get this license when you already have a license. The line for this place is always out the door and down the block it is unreal. The service seem like it went fast once you got there. The person helping me was very good at his job and the time seem to fly by before I was done and out of there. Just like any other DMV is just OK. I wish they could streamline their process like Arizona and other states to where you don't have to wait so long to get service. read more

I made an appointment many, many months out for my Real ID so I was well prepared with all my documentation when the day came; I can't say the same for many of the other people that seemed pretty clueless and were getting rejected. There was plenty of parking and I was checked right in on a Tuesday at 11 am. It was only about 1/2 hr until I was ready and in line for my photo. They only had 1 person working this line with 1 camera so this was the longest I waited. Then I had to go back to my original line where there were now 4 people waiting ahead of me and it wasn't moving. Finally someone starting pulling people out of that line to get them out quicker and I was back on my way in about an hour total. I guess with all the people going through, you're going to expect it to be a little dirty. And it stunk. I went to wash my hands when leaving but there was only one bathroom; it looked like one single stall gender-neutral bathroom with several people already waiting in line so I didn't wait around for it. read more

Lazy DMV workers, I went in today to pay for my tax and license on my new vehicle that was purchased out of state. All of my paperworks were ready and presented at the window at 4:20PM. The lady at the window said last vehicle inspection is done @4:30. They couldn't accommodate me since technically, I made it on the window before the due time. Now I have to come back for another day for a silly vehicle inspection. I'll never comeback here again, once I obtain what I need. Fullerton DMV sucks! read more

Where do I start? Its a monday, walked in at noon and found a line out the door. I wasnt able to make an appt unless I waited a month so I walked in...with fingers crossed. I lost my DL so I needed one asap. 12:21- got a number G149. They were taking G090 at the time. I sigh but hope it goes quickly. 1:30p- @ G110, I check dmv site and notice theres an appt today I can take but it's in Bell Gardens....I look to see where its at and contemplate...Looked like a dangerous neighborhood so I pass. I decided to leave to get a smog check nearby and grab a quick bite bc numbers were passing really slow...it seemed like many employees went on lunch break 2:00p- back at dmv @G119, sat back inside my car and ate my lunch quick. 2:30p- @G128, Had to wait standing bc this place was packed! 3:00p- my number gets called. It's like winning the lotto...is this really happening? I submit my paperwork and give the clerk a big smile, pay for the DL and ID card in about 5mins and leave. Man...2 hrs and 40mins to be seen for 5mins....sucks. It's ok that the wait is this long but there should be a system in place to see how long it will be for your number to be called....or see what number is currently being called on a mobile app or something. read more

My little sister took her driving test yesterday and left the place sobbing due to a Caucasian male instructor that was very rude to her during and BEFORE her test even started. She asked him certain questions before her test even started and he threw In her face in a stupid tone that he knew she ALREADY FAILED ONCE and that certain things she did was "STUPID" You DONT get to call my little sister stupid and make her feel UNCOMFORTABLE HER WHOLE TEST. He TOOK AND VERY MISOGYNISTIC approach to her the whole time. Is it because she's Asian and she had already failed one time before? That's what it felt like. With everything going on in the world with all the recent news and events I think you need to RETRAIN your instructors to be more respectful. Learn to talk to people like they are people. Is this what you people represent??? I went through MANY OF YOUR REVIEWS AND READ ALL THE ONES ABOUT YOUR RUDE INSTRUCTORS. Your instructors thrive off the authority they get on these kids. After trying to get an appointment online for a REAL ID (for traveling purposes) and its gave me the earliest date is November 07 so I decided to go directly to the DMV. As usual at every DMV, line was long as expected, however, it moved quite fast with 2 ladies at the door checked people in. They gave you 2 options: 1/ Wait inside until your number is called. 2/ You don't have to wait, go wherever you'd like and they will text you when your number is almost called. Which I think it's cool because for walk-in, it would take between 1-3 hours, depending on how early you were at the door and how long was the line and what service you were looking for. My REAL ID's line was long and it took me about 2.5 hours. Here some tips for people who want to apply for a REAL ID, go to DMV website and sign up with ID.me (this website is back by DMV), they will verify you by asking some questions such as DoB, SS #... after answering all questions, they will issue you a confirmation code, BRING THAT CODE with you and show to the people at the door while they check you in. It will speed up your process tremendously. Last, but not least, bring all required documents with you. DMV website and ID.me do have all information. They won't process if you don't have all required documents. Here the review for DMV employees. COLD! COLD! COLD! I haven't seen a smile from anyone of them. They talked to people like a machine. No expressions whatsoever. Not even say Hi. It's sad. They were all look miserable. Next review is for the restroom. OMG, I thought I was in third world country. Seriously. It was old and filthy. Graffiti was everywhere, from the wall to the sink. BTW, there was 1 STALL restroom for both men and women. I wonder what did they do with all the taxes that they kept rising? read more

I was very impressed with this location. Had to get tags renewed. I went at 1130am. I was in and out in 35 minutes. Very efficient flow and the staff was very nice and helpful. DMV made me drive to Georgia when I lived in the south they wouldn't let me vote for the longest time or register to vote because I was from California and now in January of this year they stated I didn't have enough documents so they sent a letter to my house and please fill this out (narcissists blame victims that way, I see DMV is no better), we want to verify that that's your address and it's like dude I came with five documents, but they were asleep on the job, so I had to get my license reinstated in two different trips...and wouldn't flat out tell me the computers are down. I made her admit it, and said I'll be back tomorrow. She was mad. Sorry I ruined your day discriminating against ppl with naturalization papers...the only reason they sent me that "we need more verification was to cover their asses because they sent the registration to the wrong house", they could have sent the house a letter to the ppl who have my tags saying these aren't yours. But no...they don't want a lawsuit... so I figured after I fill that out I was going to get my registration...well I guess not, because they delivered it to the wrong house. Triple aaa told me it was delivered to an apt, and said verify your mother's address. And the apt it was sent. Can't do that I don't live in apt, thank god I know your address by heart...oh and guess what you hang up several times, so I'm only doing business with AAA, I'll avoid DMV like the plague...so I filed a police report so that little motherfucker who kept my registration tags gets pulled over by the cops and go to jail for a year or get $1000 fine. Don't ever screw me over and blame me. I paid $35 for my license, twice bc you couldn't find my paperwork, and $22 for registration tags. If that asshole with my tags gets pulled over, and you send me a letter, I will find every loophole to not setting foot in the DMV. Intrustworthy. If I can give this office a minus I would have considering how badly trained the staffs are!! Went to inquire about my car registration. Fee was due mid of April, mailed payment in first of April. One month later check is still outstanding so on May 7, 2019 went to Fullerton office waited around 2 hours to see a person. Beforehand I tried to go on line and called the hotline but got no where. Anyhow after I was called to window 11 this man ( white male around 50ish) informed me that they did not get the payment so I can pay now with the penalty included and my previous check that was mailed out will return to me. I paid the fee got my sticker at window 2 the lady (Asian woman in her 40) said they won't process the check because the fee was already paid. But yesterday May 9, 2019 my first check was cashed. Bank won't stop pay the check and the DMV won't answer my call. I am so frustrated with all this BS. For me AAA is the best place to go for any DMV issue. read more

I brought my friend's brother to get his license. We checked in to the driving test window, which took no more than ten minutes. We then drove the car to the line, and the DMV staff member got the car about ten minutes after the appointment time. While the test was going on, I went to a nearby burger joint for lunch. By the time I came back, I learned he passed the test. If you have an appointment here, you'll be in and out in a timely manner. Walked in (no appointment) on a Saturday afternoon and the process to get a real ID was very smooth. It was pretty organized as in knowing what line to stand in and what to do next after each step. Took 2 hour total from when I first walked in to leaving the building. Only downside is you'll be standing for the entire time you're there. Every visit to this branch I've experienced shorter wait times than Santa Ana for example. The staff here are usually very knowledgeable, capable, and quick with solutions to the more difficult situations a visitor might have. That said they also work in a very structured & busy environment so they are and need to be very direct sometimes. Don't waste your time, theirs, or anyone else waiting for service; be prepared and call ahead with questions, look them up online, and bring every document that may be relevant. !!!Shout out to Sandra.!!! My partner and I had a very difficult situation relating to the ownership of a title where the other party lied and did not do the paperwork necessary, and we were also given misinformation on a previous visit (but this was due to a miscommunication, no one's fault). On our most recent visit Sandra helped us find a solution to our situation which would've taken us weeks more to resolve and costed us several hundred dollars. On top of it she was able to help us secure a partial refund for a payment we made on the previous visit. She also recommended that bomb burger joint across the street. It is the DMV so a lot of us still go here with expectations in our head as to what our visit will be like. Some of them justified. With an appointment I've been in and out in under ten minutes. Without an appointment I've been there up to an hour, but never more. Some employees are more consistent than others with speed and helpfulness, but that's okay because the team effort is pretty good here. read more

Yelp Challenge 2016 Yuck.... this place has a whole lot of windows. More than 30 windows and guess how many are open? Less than half. Probably closer to 1/3. If all windows were open we would be in and out in less than an hour. But, I get it there are cutbacks. Came here late morning and ended up staying 2 hours waiting to be called. I guess its better to make an appointment. Its uncomfortable inside. Cold and completely boring. The agent who helped me was nice. She informed me my options and took her time assisting me. Not sure what all the bad reviews are all about but if you don't have an appointment, don't get mad if you have to wait in line for hours! We arrived at 7:40 for a 8:00am behind the wheel driving test, plenty of partying, large lot. Front door was already open and line was wrapping around the building for non appointments. We walked straight in, followed the sign to window 34, was given our paperwork and asked to pull our car to the side of the building. There were about 6 cars ahead of us but it went pretty quick with 2-3 instructors. My son passed his test and we went back inside, he was called by name shortly after and we were out of there by 8:45! The key is to get an appointment or you'll have to arrive extra early and wait till they open. Also, the employees were somewhat friendly, I've dealt with worse at other DMV's, they greeted us and answered our questions without attitude. read more

I've never liked this DMV, and I wish I didn't have to come last minute but I did. It is so confusing outside with people standing around and no structure with lines. Someone with a disability should not have to ask 3 people where to go. One guy gave ma an attitude because he was going on break and I just needed to know where to go because I can not stand long periods of time. They need to train their employees for better customer service and make it more ADA compliant. The only good part was the guy outside who had a lot of energy and a good attitude keeping people moving as much as possible. You need more employees like him. Attitude is everything. read more

The Fullerton DMV has such a bad reputation, so I was dreading renewing my DL! I wasn't sure if I had to wait in that loooong line outside since I had an appointment, but luckily there was an employee circulating to answer questions. She told me no, I did NOT have to wait in that line and directed me to the proper window. Everyone was smiling and friendly for a Monday morning, and I was out of there in 40 minutes. I saved time by filling out the application online beforehand. They are super strict about REAL ID documents, so be sure to go to the website and complete the checklist prior to your appointment. 9:45am is a great time to get here. The morning rush was gone, but at 10:15 it started getting crowded again. Don't let people scare you away. It really wasn't bad! read more

Wait is this the same DMV I used to hate coming too?? Today was such a different experience. The employees were super nice, helpful, and....patient! Very different experience from my last visit a year ago. The main difference was that the employees were younger. A big thank you to the young ladies who do the pre check before heading inside to wait for your number to be called. They were sweet and super helpful. Also the agent at window 1 was also nice and quick to resolve my issue. I loved how quick and convenient this experience was. Still not the nicest place in the world to visit. I have a handicap/disability a bad back from a injury and sometimes have trouble sitting or standing in one place for a long period of time. When I approached the door i told the lady i have a disability and she gladly gave me a "l" code for disabled people and sent me in to a second lady who went through the paperwork and I mentioned to her about my disability and asked her about a disability code and do you have one, is it a J like it used to be or is it the I code i just got? She responded while shrugging her shoulders at me " we dont have no disabled codes! I then asked her 3 times you dont have them anymore and she continued to ignore me! After being there for 25 minutes and not a single "I" code being called i went over to ask a lady at the Doner window why no "I" codes being called and she sent me to window 4 and the gentleman man told me they aren't calling any "I" codes because there is only 2 of you disabled people in here! What! So they dont call disability codes if there isnt anymore then 2 disabled people in here? I was told i would of been better off getting a regular able person code! Yes this kind of stuff us total discrimination against disabled people! I felt totally pushed around and ignored by the workers during my visit at this DMV today. read more

Passed My drivers test today Maurice was such a nice person which helped me relax. But before him I had taken it on a Monday with a woman and she's the worst very rude and racist to Hispanics. Thankfully you can't get the same instructor but she's mean obviously doesn't like her job she wrote the exact same results and words to another guy behind me it's like she has it memorized already and wakes up saying " I'm not passing no one today" also when the Hispanic men told her they don't speak Spanish she said UGHHHH ! Oh the DMV! The tempers, annoyances and frustrations of waiting. For those poor suckers that don't have an appointment I have found the best solution while you wait for your number to be called or your social security retirement to kick in. Whichever comes first. 1. Sit in one of the chairs. 2. Raise your hand in the air 3. Make a fist 4. Punch yourself in the face 5. Repeat 6. Have someone wake you up when your number is called. To be honest coming in with an appointment is the way to go. As I sat and watched countless people miserably waiting I came in and went to the appointment line, got a number, got called up in 10 min and then left. Honestly the experience wasn't bad because I had an appointment. The lady assisting me was very pleasant. But with no appointment your destined to be miserable as soon as you walk in here. Make sure you bring something to occupy your time as you wait: movie on your phone, book, etc... read more

I just had my behind the wheel test and passed today! But unfortunately, I had some bad luck before I started. Right before I was about to take the test and when my instructor, Maurice, was checking my turn signal lights, etc., I found out my brake light wasn't working. I started to panic because it worked just fine the day before. However, Maurice was kind and allowed me to come back at 2 PM after fixing it. After rushing to fix it, I started my test and I was 2x more nervous, and I think Maurice noticed (also because I was so embarrassed). He was helpful on the road and gave me tips, and after the test was done he explained my mistakes nicely. Maurice was a great proctor and I hope anyone who has their driving test soon has him as their proctor! :) read more

I haven't been to the DMV for licensing in years & years. Going now during COVID takes sooooo long. There are still no appointments able to be made, and they have the initial walk in line outside in the parking lot to ensure social distancing. If you come on a Monday or Friday, you will be standing in line outside for 3 hours...any other day of the week will be maybe 1/2 of that time in the sun...and best to go after lunch time. The line is always shorter in the afternoon. So after the 2-3 hour line wait outside, you finally get to the tent where you're asked what you're there to do. Then you stand in a short line to see one of the agents who makes sure you have all the correct documents you need to process what you went there to do. They then instruct you to wait until you get a text that your number is close to be being called. And they will give you a guess on how long that will be. The guy told me a good 45 minutes...but it ended up being 2 hours. Total time spent 4 hours. Aside from the long wait, they are very organized. You can actually leave the DMV if the wait to your number is more than 1/2 hour. The first text you get is to let you know your number will be called soon. So you have 10 minutes to head back before the last text that your number is being called. And everyone wears masks & gloves. Overall not bad...just be prepared to be there for hours. read more

This place is horrible! 3 hour ordeal to renew my vehicle registration. I was unable to do it online or at the DMV Kiosk because it was overdue. Began by getting in a long line outside in 90 degree weather just so I could sign up to get a text message with a number. 45 minutes later I get the text to which I wait in another line, get my temperature taken, put a "DMV Screened" sticker on my shirt then enter the building where....you guessed it....wait some more until my number is called. About 20 minutes later, I'm called up to wonderful Window #5 operated by a lady named "Soledad". I pay the $302 plus 2.6% fee for using a debit/credit card. Then I'm told by sweetheart Soledad that I need to go to the Kiosk and pay a $14 vehicle registration suspension fee, and then return to Window #5 with proof of car insurance. I ask Soledad if I can just pay the $14 now in person and she tells me nope, I must use the kiosk. After waiting in another line approximately 10 minutes, I use the super awesome kiosk and pay my $14 in cash so I can avoid another 2.6% fee for using a credit/debit card. I then return to Window #5 and low and behold Soledad isn't there anymore! Just an empty chair. I wait about 15 minutes before I ask the guy at Window #4 if he knows when Soledad is coming back. He goes to look for her and about 5 minutes later she returns. That's when I snap this gem of a photo of her in all her glory. She then has me write down my insurance name, policy #, and effective date and I hand it to her. She tells me to have a seat and she will call me. 45 minutes later I get fed up and walk back to Window #5 and Soledad tells me that "the system in Sacramento" was down when she swiped my credit card so it may not have charged it. I log into my account and show her it has been charged and she tells me that I will either have to get charged again and refunded back the first $302 or come back in a few days. I tell her to charge it again. She then tells me to go pick up my sticker at Window #1. I wait there for 15 more minutes as I watch everyone start to leave for the day. Someone finally asks what I'm waiting for and I tell them a registration sticker. She then goes to find someone with a key, and 5 minutes after that, I finally get my sticker. Total time at the DMV: 3 hours and 12 minutes. Total cost: $302 + 2.6% CC fee and possibly times two, since they had to charge my CC twice. What a complete circus. read more

I figure If i go when they opened it wouldn't be so bad. I got there at 805am. waited 30 minutes in line to get a number and then another 2 1/2 hours just to be called. Why didn't I make an appointment you asked? I did! I made an appoint 2 1/2 weeks before my license is to expire and was given an appointment time for the day after my license expires. I made friends with a stranger and we were talking about how this is what hell feels like, but only you're the 2nd person in line and your number is never called. Seriously this place has no urgency, its like they don't even try to knock out the line. Why does your license expire on your birthday? Seriously thanks State of california for making me go get a new picture, thumb print, and my eye exam. Here is a thought, just like a smog check I should be able to go to a designated testing station. Maybe like to an optometrist, eye test if you fail they can give you glasses and then send you on your merry way. Why can't i send in a picture? Why is getting a license more harder than a passport? Santa Ana is generally my DMV of choice, but it turns out the Fullerton one ain't to shabby either. For some odd reason I'm staunchly against DMV appointments. You have to set an appointment no less than 10 days in advance. It's just a bit silly. So, it means I've gotta find a DMV that doesn't take 3.5 hours for a simple task. Fullerton has this under control. Seriously, they get you in and out of the colorless hell that is the DMV. Everyone is right on top of things, and you'll spend less than a half hour here if everything goes according to plan. So, basically what I'm trying to say is please, please, please don't ever go to the Fullerton DMV and leave this lone beacon of light of government offices to shine for me and me alone. read more
