Cindy 04 is very unprofessional. I was taking my written test and there was some people talking next to me and Cindy 04 accused me of cheating on my test and caused a sense in front of everyone I was very embarrassed because I wasn't talking to nobody nor looking at anyone. She could of been professional and pulled me to the side and let me know what the issue is, instead she caused a sense with the tone of her voice in the middle of everyone as well as demanding my information when I was being very professional due to me being very confused on the situation. I asked if there was anyway I could take the test in front of them or have them watch me take it or even see the cameras due to me being accused of cheating on the test. This has got to be the best DMV ever. I got there at 7:50 and had a short wait before they opened. I had no appointment, 2 people ahead of me so short wait. Gave the receptionist my info and wundow3 was waiting for me. Updated my info, did the eye test and a new picture, out the door by 8:20. Yea!!! My advice, renew your D/L on line with e-course option. Take it at no pace, no rush or pressure. read more

Unfortunately prior to my test it was challenging to deal with DMV because of all red tape as I now understand the process. The staff were always friendly and professional. I know you folks have to deal with challenging people, and people always complain about the DMV. It is refreshing to see that they move unpleasant staff that are unhappy to other offices. I saw a lot of negative reviews on this DMV which got me really stressed out for my behind the wheel test. I did it today. The "old lady" was the instructor, as most of the people said in their reviews. She wasn't at all rude. She just didn't say hello but was very busy doing back to back driving test so it's understandable. All her directions were very clear and made well ahead any turns (note: English isn't my native language). The driving test needs preparation! Also, the driver needs to exaggerate all movement to show what direction you look at (rear mirrors, over shoulder etc..). From the passenger seat, the instructor cannot see your eyeballs so just be over cautious in exaggerating each traffic check. read more

For the past 3 years, my daughter and I have been working on getting her permit and drivers license. We tried the Turlock DMV and they were so awful for both the written test and driving test. Not one drop of kindness. My daughter has test anxiety and they were so kind at the Los Banos DMV. The test wasn't easier.. but the people were nicer.. they are real humans who want others to succeed. A little kindness goes a long way. She didn't pass her driving test until her third try but they were so kind. They built up her confidence and treated her with respect. It's these little things that restore my faith in humanity. Avoid this DMV. Check-in person at front will tell you to stand behind green photo screen AND WAIT for someone to get you for drivers test. Counter person will ignore you for 30 minutes despite making eye contact. Go to Salinas where they have a super nice person who manages the line and brings you to the counter when it's your appointment time. I lost a days wages because I was good and polite waited my turn w/o nagging anyone. read more

My son went for his drive test today, his instructor was an older blonde lady. She was wearing a face shield. My son was very confident that he was going to pass his test today. Everything was going well until they started the drive test the ladies face shield was blocking my sons view, plus it gave off a reflection which is not good. Of course he didn't say anything about it because she should know that it's not good to be blocking peoples view while driving but I guess she didn't and according to the dmv manager you should tell the instructor if they are blocking your view. Good news is that you can refuse an instructor and ask for a different one. Instead of face shields they should use goggles they are less bulky. read more

I received my driver's license renewal notice, and this time, unfortunately, I couldn't renew online, but had to go to a DMV field office for them to take a new photo and have a vision test. I attempted to book an appointment at my local Fremont office, but their earliest available time would of been after my license expired (about a two month wait!). The worst thing you can do is show up there without an appointment, so I started comparing wait times at the other field offices. The further out I checked from Fremont, the sooner I could get in, but most were still at least a months wait. But when I got to the Los Banos DMV schedule, next day appointments were available, so I booked one. The only downside was that it's an hour and forty minute drive. Just tell yourself, your going a mini vacation, and the drive wont seem too bad. More enjoyable than standing in a DMV line. Still, there were a few people waiting in line who didn't have an appointment, but on a much smaller scale than your typical DMV office. There was ample parking. But by planning ahead, you get the red carpet treatment (literally), and I was in and out in twenty minutes. read more

Drove over an hour to here for my driving test appointment since all of the closer DMVs were booked for more than a month. When I came in, they informed me that the only examiner that they have had skipped work. They said that they had called any people who had appointments to notify them, but I did not recieve any calls. They suggested that my voice mail was full, but that was not the case. Wasted my time and now I have to wait almost 2 months for another appointment. Will not be making an appointment here again. Edit: After they informed me that the examiner wasn't here, they said that they would help me make another appointment. When I tried to check the appointment today from their website, it was not found. Either the lady who helped me did not actually make the appointment, or she couldn't even type up my name or my phone number correctly. Shocking. read more

I must have made you nervous for some reason, since you typed in my license plate number at least two times, and clearly didn't type it in right. Nothing irritates me more than people wasting my time, which you did by telling me that the plate number belongs to a jeep from out of state, so I went and took a picture to prove my plate number, which you didn't even look at- I hope you felt stupid. Magically when you typed it in this time the correct information popped up. AMAZING! Please lady, you work at the dmv, don't give me attitude and insult me. Oh and also... Okay so i went to take my test today ,i can see why this place has such low reviews specifically about the old lady instructor. First, why is there only 1 instructor working here when there's a serious back log of appointments ? That's ridiculous for the biggest state in the country. Second, the instructor was incredibly rude and unrealistic. Like everyone else here who has the displeasure of being tested by her ,she also would tell me to make turns AT THE LAST MINUTE. You cant tell anyone who is new at driving to make last minute turns and then get mad about it. Third, the speed limit signs on the route were not shown till 3 minutes into the actual driving. You cant mark me for going too fast when i barely got to the speed limit sign . Fourth, why are you an instructor and allowed to give attitude? Okay first, WTF? This place is a joke! Do not take your teenagers here to take their behind the wheel test! I'm so pissed off about every second of our experience here. The instructors are VERY UNFRIENDLY! If you hate your job, work elsewhere! Nothing but a bunch of miserable ass people here. My son failed his test due to driving too slow. Are you kidding me? I would much rather have my new driver drive with caution then like an idiot. My son was literally gone 3 minutes before returning with an automatic fail for driving too slow. This place is so backed up and the line for behind the wheel was absurd due to being shut down for months. I felt as if they were just failing these new drivers for the most ridiculous reasons just to get caught up with the people waiting. My son took his test on a Friday when he failed. The following Monday (3 days later) he took it again in Turkock. Didn't realize if you're over 18 there's not a waiting period. The Turlock instructor was very nice, cheerful, and made us feel at ease, even joking with us prior to taking the test. YOU WILL NOT get that in Los Banos. My son was not familiar with driving in Turkock, did not know the roads, but passed with no problem at all. I was sure to let them know LB DMV was a f'n joke, the instructors are a bunch of miserable bastards that must hate their lives and just go to work to take out all their life's mistakes on these young new drivers. Old ginger needs to retire, dude with greasy ass hair needs a makeover and the thick brunette needs to learn to base her automatic fails off of the sheet they hand out, not just make shit up to fail someone just so she can get caught up with everyone waiting. read more

I went in today to renew my drivers license and regretted not going to the location where I actually live. The staff here is incredibly rude and need to be trained on how to treat people with respect. I don't understand why they feel entitled to talk down on people and make us feel like we're all dumb. The lady who helped me out today was in such a horrible mood and would not be helpful at explaining what the process looks like. She just said you need to fill out an application but didn't tell me how. There was several instances where she did this and I had to ask many follow up questions which for some reason got her mad. Wish I had gotten her name because she doesn't deserve a job. If you're curious she has long black hair and was sitting at the desk under sign that says, "Start Here" today 5/30 around 5pm. My daughter went last week to do her behind the wheel test and it was a guy with a long pony tail and he was rude with her and told her he would let her know before she hit the curb while backing up and he never did and let her hit it 3 times and failed her. She yelled at my fiancé and would just say "TURN" without saying left or right and tried to make her to do unsafe things like turn on a solid yellow line when a semi truck is in the way. This place was the only one with an appointments available less than a month (the others had a 3 months line ahead), now I understand why it's so. This place is horrible for taking behind the wheel test! I have 10 years driving experience in foreign country, and I was not conscious to mention this to inspector. I did a few mistakes and was following speed limits posted, but at the end of the test she said I didn't pass because I'm driving too fast and making turns too fast (it wasn't so at all). And she seemed to be in a bad mood. Then I was trying to pass it there one more time (I was so naive believing in a justice). And she was taking my exam again (in normal situation they shouldn't do so and they must offer you another inspector as you shouldn't proceed with the inspector you hadn't passed before, and there were at least two at that day). I was doing pretty good until she confused me saying turn to the left and than saying "no, turn to the right" and made me rush in changing the lines in not appropriate spot. My husband had pretty same experience with another inspector at that DMV (also didn't pass two times). And eventually we passed it in Santa Teresa and Santa Clara with very few # of mistakes. Took my 16 y/o son to the Los Banos DMV for his behind the wheel test this morning. Read some of the reviews about this DMV although I had already scheduled the appointment. We ended up with the male examiner with the long hair. Very disappointing experience. Lacks any personality or ability to place the individual being tested at ease. As the parent, did t even acknowledge me or my son when we said good morning. We live in Hollister do I suppose I have some fault in taking my son to a city where he doesn't have the experience on their roads; I own that decision. Will never make the mistake of heading to the Los Banos DMV for any services. They could all use customer service training, and the guy who tested my son could use additional training and grooming techniques. Seriously lacks professionalism and personality. If you have a teenage taking the exam, stay far away from the Los Banos DMV office. read more

I take care of as much DMV stuff as I can at the local AAA office, but when ever i've had to go to DMV here in Los Banos, i've never had to wait more than an hour (actually, the longest I've had to wait is 45 min.). I went to this dmv over turlock because the online wait said it was 30 minutes. I waited for over an hour. While waiting I noticed the staff talks amongst themselves while helping people, with total disregard for the person infront of them. They were rude when they actually talked to the clients. I seen that the clients that did not speak english struggled to communicate, because they didn't seem to have anyone to interrupt. They all seemed irritated that they had to do their job. read more
