Crystal was phenomenal! She was very welcoming, informative & professional. I think places that are generally stressful for most people, like a DMV, need more employees like Crystal. She really made my experience better, as did the lady conducting the written tests. Give these ladies the raise that they deserve! All of the employees that I encountered were very nice and helpful. I'm sure the person taking my picture had good intentions, but they made me smile with teeth for my photo after I told them multiple times that I didn't want to. It's not a rule in IL that you have to smile with your teeth. So I really ended up paying $30 for a new license photo that I look like a fat lard in. Not really cool. That's the only issue that I had with this whole visit. read more

My mother's license expires when she turns 89 and is required to take a driving road test every year since turning 85 as required by Illinois law. The employee who took my mother was on a bossy power trip. This was the first time she had to pretend she was parking on a hill. She put the car in park and lifted the emergency parking brake. The employee yelled at her for not turning the tire into the pretend curb. She replied okay that she understood and the employee yelled at her again that it is not okay. This upset my mother and made her nervous. He failed her because of it. Nobody should be treated like this and the employee should be fired. I will look into how I can report him. While I was waiting another woman in line told me how rude the road test employee was to her and her 85 year old husband who failed after being yelled at. read more

My grandson got his permit and I renewed my license at the Midlothian facility. We were both treated with warmth and professionalism. I get nervous when I have to take the road test, but the gentleman who tested me was extremely kind and compassionate. Both of our experiences were great. We'd like to commend all the workers at the Midlothian facility for making it a truly great day both for myself and for my grandson. read more

Absolutely terrible. No good system of processing requests. Lines are mismanaged and people are rude. Pretty much aligned to how government functions - slow and unorganized. Total turnaround from standing in line, photos, and payment was around 2 hours and 45 minutes. Yes you read that right. read more

Absolutely the worst, I see nothing has changed over the years...haven't been to the DMV in 10+ years, but I decided to get my "REAL ID". It was suggested I make an appointment....The first process is the paperwork review, the lady was petulant, rude and obnoxious...there must be some special training they go thru to learn how to have such a bad attitude......they act like they're doing us a favor...they would get fired if they worked for real business....perhaps the managers walking around doing nothing should think of running it as a real business...the employees need to go to training to learn some real customer service traits, like empathy, sensitivity, listening skills, etc. One gets the sense you've broken the law and are getting booked into jail!! What a waste of tax payers dollars...they don't realize we're paying their salaries!!! One hour later I was sent to stand in line to pay my fee, I was number 16....an hour later and I was number 14.....instead of chairs (I suppose as a result of Covid) they have you stand on sequential numbers on the floor.... the elderly in line where being ask to stand and eventually someone had to get them a chair...there were no accommodations for those who couldn't stand for 2 plus hours... suggestion, put the chairs back in and call the numbers if you're going to have people stand for 2 hours!! Perhaps the managers can pull up a chair and process some transactions while we watch 4 of the 6 tellers go for their break...just a thought! read more

I really wish I didn't have to come up here every few years but since my license has an expiration here I am. The man at the front desk has a very terrible attituide. I never understand why people would get a job where you have to constantly work with people and your not a people person. I went to renew my license at DMV. Two days later, I get a fraudulent text message saying my license won't be processed unless I fix it with a link attached. I clicked the link, but did not fill out any information. I knew it was shady. However, the damage was done. I had to change all my passwords and contact my computer provider for help finding out if I had spyware...on my computer. It was stressful. The DMV could not do something as simple as secure my phone number, yet you are supposed to trust them with very sensitive information. read more

Definitely a lot better than the one in Bridgeview. Went with my son on a Saturday to get his first state ID, and we were done in an hour. That's the same amount of time we waited at the Bridgeview one just to get to the front desk. They are more organized, and the employees are nicer. read more

I received a letter from the State advising me my drivers license was due to expire and to renew I would be required to take both a vision test and a road test. I went on line and made an appointment. Upon arrival I was advised an appointment was not necessary since I was a senior citizen and would be allowed to move to the head of the lines. The lady also said that the law had changed , the letter was not accurate, and people over 75 were no longer automatically required to take a road test. This was fine with me. she pointed to a line for my picture to be taken. After standing in that line for some time I realized there was a separate line for seniors which I moved to. After the picture was finally taken the employee directed me to a line to pay the fees. Stood in line only to finally be told I was in the wrong line and I needed to have my vision tested next. Directed to stand on square number 11 Which I did. Was then advised I had had moved in front of others who had been waiting longer so back to the end of the line I went. A supervisor came out and started looking a peoples paperwork and began pulling people out because they were evidently in the wrong line. Took the vision test, stood again in line to pay the fees, and finally finished. Thank God I didn't have to ask where the exit was. They probably would have sent me to the wrong door! read more

Possibly the worst dmv I've ever been too. They are very ignorant when asking you any questions. The girl that was helping me was talking to her friend next to her about another customer. I noticed they were getting very impatient with people who could not speak English properly. They would just repeat the question in a louder voice instead of asking for a translator to help. Didn't acknowledge the fact that I was helping my parents with translating. I have been to the DMV in Midlothian a total of four times today. I wanted to change my address and get the new state ID. To make a long story short I was misinformed on the documentation needed in order to obtain the new license, several times . My last encounter was with the supervisor I believe her name was Kim, I have no idea how she has a supervisor position. She's rude, Obnoxious and ignorant. No accountability...misinforming customers... I'd Drive the extra 10 miles to the next facility rather then deal with someone like her again. read more

Terrible service here. Everyone has a bad attitude and you can tell they hate their jobs. You ask them a question and it's almost as if you're bothering them. There was a nice man controlling the line and he was answering my questions outside then I asked about price and he said he wasn't sure and asked a lady who walked up if she knew and she was extremely rude with her answer and said point blank NO. very impressed with the change in the way things were handled, went to have an address change on my license since I just moved and because of the covid was impressed the precautions they take, no more sitting with 500 people all around you, you go by appointment and then stand on box numbers marked on floor, plus staff is a lot more friendly, very impressed with the switch. read more

Worst place I've ever been to IN MY LIFE. Definitely don't recommend you going near that place. I've never been treated that way before in my life. Waited in line to take a road test.. for an hour. Was told to put the car in park and wait in line, but then the black security guard proceeded to tell the instructors not to test me because i "wasn't in line". Not sure if it was because I was white ... or because she didn't want to take 5 minutes out of some one else's day to test me. The security guard was the worst human being I've ever meant. I have to say, when I realized I had to renew my license at this facility I cringed. Every time I've been there, it's a non-stop wait, and I've never gotten out in less than 1 1/2 hours. I went today and was in and out in less than 1/2 an hour and that includes my written exam and my new photo. I do think it's ridiculous to pay $30 to renew your license but that is just the crooked state of Illinois. read more

This facility is sooooo sloooow!!! Even with the number system the service is slow. You must have your car information to get a license plate sticker renewed you have to take a number for that. No in and out situation. You can't get license plates at this Midlothian facility. read more

Alyssa - Manager of Midlothian -arrogant, rude, and needs retraining! (July 21, 2017) I arrived at Midlothian at 6:30 am to take my motorcycle test. I arrived early to practice on the course and then get in line at 7:00 before they open. At 6:35am, a silver SUV drives about 30 feet from the course and yells out the window, "We are not testing motorcycles today" and then drives away and parks in front of the DMV (in a handicapped spot). I had no idea who she was or why she would yell this, so I continued to practice the course. I got in the growing line shortly after 7:00, and when I said I wanted to take the motorcycle license road test, I was sent to the first window. Apparently it was the same woman who yelled at me from her SUV. She went on a tirade to say, "I told you so... we're not testing you." She said the driving course was wet and they're not testing today and would not discuss anything else with me. Here's the problem... THE COURSE IS NOT WET!!! YES, THERE ARE POTHOLES AND PUDDLES NEAR THE DMV BUILDING, BUT NOT AWAY FROM THE BUILDING AT OR ON THE COURSE. She said that the state called her this morning and said all the courses are closed due to yesterday's rain. So I called the "state" DMV# 312-814-2975, and talked to a very nice man named SCOTT. He said that no such decision is ever made statewide. It is up to the manager, in this case, Alyssa. He called Alyssa back and she lied to him and said that the course itself was wet. She never bothered to walk out on the course. Scott's hands are tied. Scott said that there CAN be wet areas in the parking lot, just not on the marked course. It was my word against hers and in true DMV style, the customer lost. I know it's almost 90 degrees out and you don't want to stand outside in the heat... but be ethical, be truthful, and don't have a power struggle with the customers. (And maybe someone should check out Alyssa's need for a handicapped license plate.) read more

This is by far the worst dmv I've ever been to. Cancelled my dl renewal for not taking a vision test. A test Im not required to take for a perfect driving record. Oh and for the record I took the test. I have 20/20 Vision Even Springfield couldn't understand the mistake they did. Idiots read more

We went here and I honestly feel like every person was rude and inconsiderate because we were white. I was told my boyfriend was not allowed inside with me, even though everyone else came in with a plus one. I was treated like a child who just disobeyed my parents. The staff were rude, unprofessional, and I got disqualified on my driving test for basically nothing. I am literally in shock at how disrespectful and unprofessional these people were. I would rather go to hell instead of visiting this DMV again. Once I failed the driver's test and went back to get my receipt for passing the written portion the woman basically laughed in my face and said I was going to have to come back, take a number, and repeat the whole process again. I don't know how a government facility like this is still running. read more
