Detroit pizza.
Robert S.

My husband loves this pizza joint. A cheese pizza, Detroit style had lots of sauce and gooey cheese. Not my preferred choice, I like NY style (thin and crispy). Still, he loves this pizza. It came cut into squares and the crust is a bit on the thicker side. If you like thicker crust pizza vs thin crust, this is an option for you if you are in the Oakland Park and A1A area.

NY vegan pizza with mushrooms and house made vegan cheese and pepperoni
Josh M.

DNY Pizza is a true hidden gem on Oakland Park Boulevard just less than a tenth of a mile from the beach and absolutely worth the stop, especially if you are vegan or traveling with someone who is. The name says it all. DNY stands for Detroit and New York, and they serve both styles with equal mastery. They also offer gluten free options and, even better, a full lineup of house made vegan choices. What really sets DNY Pizza apart is the level of care that goes into their vegan menu. Their vegan cheese, vegan sausage, and vegan pepperoni are all made in house, and you can taste the difference. They even make vegan cookies, and while the vegan ice cream is not made in house, it is still excellent. We ordered a New York style pizza with vegan pepperoni and mushrooms and a Detroit style pizza with vegan sausage, peppers, and onions. Both were incredible. The crusts were perfect. New York is foldable and flavorful, Detroit is thick and crispy on the edges. Choosing a favorite really comes down to personal preference. I honestly could not pick one. The vegan sausage was especially impressive, full of flavor, and the pepperoni was cooked just right. Next time the only thing I would change is asking for extra cheese. It was so good that I just wanted more. The sauce is just as good as everything else, and I recommend asking for a side of it for dipping. I usually leave some crust behind, but not here. Both crusts were so well done that I did not leave a single bite. A heads up. Seating is limited, and because everything is made fresh to order, expect about a fifteen to twenty minute wait. If you are hungry, call ahead or order in advance. Overall, DNY Pizza is absolutely worth trying. There are not many places making their own vegan cheese, vegan sausage, vegan pepperoni, and even their own vegan cookies. Give them a shot and let me know what you think when you go. Late night pizza

Pizza was so good we didn't waste time to take a picture we had been driving for almost 12 hours and were hungry when we arrived In Pompano Beach this spot was only a few minutes from the hotel so after unloading I dashed down to pick up two 18" cheese pies! NY style all the way thin crust and the perfect ratio of cheese and sauce to crust! Highly recommended we will be going back again this week to try the homemade vegan pizza with homemade cheese homemade sausage and homemade pepperoni! My wife is so excited to try it! The guy the owns the place was very friendly and super nice. Go support this amazing guy and his family of vegans that make your dinner options memorable.

Meat Lovers Pizza slice and garlic roll..the official food of 2am

Despite my proclivities for pizzas with pineapple and other uber-refined ingredients, few dishes hit the spot after midnight as good as slice of classic pepperoni or meat lovers! You can pass that confession to my NY friends. Located right along the Intracoastal on Oakland Park , I stopped here more than a bit after midnight from attending a friend's art exhibition nearby and was attended by the chef / owner. The vibe (and prices) were those of old South Florida Beach town that I remember from my younger days. The slice was hot, it had a generous serving of toppings and the red pepper flakes tableside added the perfect amount of heat. There are a few tables from the inside, or you can get it to go before or after crossing the bridge to the beach. It's in a strip mall with a couple of other bars so it's perfect after a fun Saturday night out.

Take out Pepperoni Pizza

I visited DNY late at night and am so impressed with the deliciousness! We came to the restaurant to order a late night pizza and got the best pizza in all of Florida! We ordered a small pepperoni where the store took the pizza out of the oven early to add extra sauce and made the crust cooked to perfection! The pizza melted in our mouths and had the right amount of cheese and pepperoni! We ate the left over slices cold in the morning and it still tasted as good! The staff was so accommodating! They asked how we want the pizza and knew we were in a time crunch making sure they accommodated our needs! The inside of the store was pleasant as we waited for our fresh pizza to be ready for carry-out! The staff talked to us throughout the time in between customers ensuring we felt comfortable as we waited! We had to go back a second time before leaving Fort Lauderdale because the pizza was so delicious! Highly recommend this great place as your go-to for pizza!

DNY Pizzeria, true to form is another hole-in-the-wall type of operation but like the others offering excellent pizza at a good value. The pizzas are of Detroit style, medium crust, cut square, and layered with gooey cheese. They are cooked al Taglio, or in rectangular plates offering patrons rectangular slices rather than those in pie-sliced shapes. However, they also make a nice New York-style pizza too. The inside seating is rather cramped but not all that bad if they don't have that many customers which they usually don't. There are some sidewalk tables but they're basically useless as they have no umbrella covering, exposing you to the Florida sun. For my meal I did as takeout of their "Ultimate Pizza" made up of cupped pepperoni, smoked sausage, sweet red onions, roasted peppers, tomato sauce, and gourmet cheese, all paired in delicious flavors. Overall for a little hole in the wall of a pizza place, it's far better than most. Hence, Four Yelp Stars.

Chicken pizza

So very disappointed. We arrived within the time they specified, excited to try a new place. Took it home - about 5 minutes away. We opened the boxes to find flat, cold pizza with hardly any toppings. Even though they were two different types of pizza, they both looked the same. The three of us gave it a taste anyway and concluded that this was the worst pizza we have ever had! We opted to eat leftovers instead. The actual pizza looked nothing like the pizzas pictured on their website. I called the shop to give them an honest opinion of what we thought. He couldn't believe that we weren't pleased with his pizza. After some discussion he did agree to refund half of the bill. This was nice but didn't change our opinion of the pizza. Never again!

Garlic knots

This is what i got when i ordered "garlic knots" and chicken parm pizza that was supposed to have crispy chicken on it. Instead i got cold, grilled chicken on it...

New York Style Pepperoni Pizza

Ny style is nice and thin with a good crunch. Sauce is delicious. Very friendly staff and great customer service.

I had been many times to Pizza Rustica and now it's DNY. We ordered the Margherita. Very tasty. Service was good and the pizza came out fast. Highly recommend, will be back!:)

Vegan pizza! They make their own vegan cheese and sausage and pepperoni! They also have vegan cookies available. I had the Detroit style meat pizza, and it was delicious!

We liked the liked the vegetable pizza. However one guest, who cooks a lot, I can't felt it needed more sauce.

I don't like writing negative reviews, especially because I had previously enjoyed this restaurant…read moreand even recommended it to friends. I'm often the person my group relies on to choose restaurants, so I was genuinely excited to have our group meet here based on my past experiences and what I thought would be a great atmosphere for watching a game. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning, as the interaction with management completely overshadowed everything else. I organized a reservation for a party of 10 after learning that an industry colleague was planning corporate group outings at the restaurant. The restaurant also heavily promotes itself as a destination for watching sporting events and accommodating large groups, which made it feel like a perfect fit. I made the reservation several days in advance and received both email and text confirmations, including a separate text from a manager confirming our party of 10. One member of our group arrived early with a few friends and began ordering food and drinks while waiting for the rest of the party. They also asked if our tables could be seated near each other once everyone arrived. It was at that point that the situation began to deteriorate. The manager insisted there was no reservation for 10 people and claimed the system only showed five, despite the confirmations we had on hand. Another member of our group who also had a reservation for 10 attempted to clarify this but was told by the general manager that he "didn't care what the confirmations showed" and that he had the final say. When several members of our group called the restaurant to try to resolve the issue--since we were actively arranging Ubers and wanted to clarify before heading over--the conversation became increasingly confrontational. Instead of attempting to understand the discrepancy or offer any solution, the same dismissive tone continued. I also called myself in an effort to de-escalate, but was met with an unprofessional and condescending response, with the manager stating he was not going to tolerate our party's behavior and abruptly saying, "I just cancelled your reservation." Having worked in and around the restaurant industry and growing up with a father who was a chef and restaurant owner, I understand that mistakes happen and systems aren't perfect. I've also worked in multiple roles within the industry, so I'm familiar with how these situations are typically handled, and I've never encountered that level of hostility directed at guests over a reservation issue. What I don't understand is meeting paying customers with hostility instead of professionalism. A simple willingness to investigate or problem-solve could have completely changed the outcome. Since we were unable to have a productive conversation with the manager, the friends who were already seated left. The rest of us Ubered to meet them elsewhere, and our group ultimately spent the rest of the evening, and our business, somewhere else instead. It's especially disappointing because the food has always been good, which makes the experience even more frustrating. Customer service starts at the top, and unfortunately, the interaction with management overshadowed everything else. I sincerely hope ownership takes this feedback seriously, as the restaurant clearly has potential. Based on this experience, and reflecting concerns others have raised as well, I can't recommend it for large group reservations.

We're in a hotel room with just running water and a microwave. Thank you for making it that much more sloppy to eat. Worse yet, their driver apparently couldn't be bothered to meet me in person. He was in such a hurry around 1100pm to have simply left my pizza balanced on the gate to a publicly accessible hotel--for anyone to take. And I paid a gratuity for that level of service. I'll be sure to remember and share my experience with others at Patio Bar & Pizza in the same spirit.

With kid's portion penne Alfredo (I wanted to try their pasta), avocado salad, and calamari appetizer. Both pizzas were very good, I strongly recommend it to everyone. Their pasta is also good, even for the kid's menu the portion was generous and the price fair. The only thing I don't really recommend is the avocado salad. Yes we were a party of three so we finished most of the salad but the flavor just wasn't there and the texture was off for me too. The avocado is mushy and discolored, and I personally prefer the sliced or diced avocados for avocado salad. The parking is limited so get there early or on a slower day. I think I would recommend this place to others and be back again in the future.

We walk over, sit down and ask what the lunch specials are and the waitress says they don't have any. When we told her we had called she said well the only special is the personal 8" pizza with up to 3 toppings. Then she says there is a lunch size house or cesar salad. There are no lunch prices listed anywhere. When we ask her for the prices, she has to look it up on her handheld ordering machine. She says the salads are $7.95 and the pizzas are $8.95 with up to 3 toppings. We each order a lunch salad and a personal pizza with up to 3 toppings. Salad was a good size. Pizza was OK. Very thin and very light on toppings. When we get the bill, it is higher than we thought. But my husband pays. I look at the itemized receipt and see that we were charged $1.50 per topping. I ask her about the bill and remind her she said the pizza was $8.95 with up to 3 toppings. She says, yes but the toppings are $1.50 each. I tell her she never said that and how am I supposed to know. And if I am paying for the toppings, why would you limit me to 3? It doesn't make sense. She said she was sorry but didn't offer anything to make it right. I shook my head, laughed and walked out. Total bait and switch. Never going there again.

Although this place looked great, but between crying kids, and a couple poorly done menu items, they lost a lot of points on execution... Our server Tomas was great! Best part of the whole experience. When we got to see him, which wasn't often, because they were short staffed or something as he was also tending bar (where he excelled), and running to take care of everyone, all while being berated loudly by an older gentleman we had to assume was the boss. The food was where they could have made up for that, but sadly, it was all over the place. - Calamari were crispy yet tender, and perfectly seasoned breading, but the accompanying sauce was too spicy for almost everyone in our party. - Meatballs were decent sized, and though they presented beautifully they were dry and overly dense, with their sauce on the opposite end of the spectrum with almost no flavor, and sadly that matched the flavorless meat as well. - Pizzas were the star, creative and delicious though, with just the right amount of toppings but just too much char on the crust. Tomas really shone as a bartender/ mixologist though, coming up with imaginative cocktails on the fly based on our favored liquors. The ambiance is cool, and there is a really decent speakeasy vibe going on with the decor but maybe try it at night to see if that vibe comes through under cover of darkness, cuz today wasn't it.
