Mucky in shady spots, roots and rocks pop up along the path, so watch your step. The rhododendrons bloom in July, and the state park seems to keep an updated blog so you can time your visit. It is a half-mile loop trail, Luxury porta-potties (mini cabins) for convenient pit-toilets. A few picnic tables in this very woodsy area. Carry-in, carry-out trash on the premises.

This is a perfect spot for an outing for the entire family. Tully Lake is beautiful any time of year but make it a point to visit during the Winter months when its frozen over and covered with snow. You won't be alone as a small number of folks like to walk across the lake with their family and/or pets. Oddly enough, I think I prefer a Winter visit as Tully displays its cold breathtaking wintery pristine splendor in the sparkling Winter's sun.

It has become the place I return to in my mind when I'm stressed or meditating lol! This is the largest bridge in the area and was built in 1864 to replace the existing bridge. There's plenty of room to park off to the side and the bridge has walkways on either side that span the length of the bridge. There are also pathways that take you down to the riverbank for more views! The river is incredibly beautiful, especially with the fall foliage - just wow! I could've quite happily stayed here all day! It's very easy to find - just plug the name into google maps and it will get you here (Apple Maps didn't work for me though).

This bridge located in Winchester is huge and also has some really unique features. My favorite was that both sides of the bridge had covered areas to walk, which you don't see in some of the smaller covered bridges. Overall, it's a unique little landmark hidden in the middle of nowhere and if you are a little bit of a nerd like me you'll probably enjoy it.

The gorge itself has picturesque views throughout the canyon. Our visit was October so between the fall foliage and crisp air, we really couldn't have asked for a better day. Because of the low water level we were actually able to walk up through the water itself which provided amazing views both up & down the rocks. Be careful of slippery rock surfaces & steep drops in some places.

Puffer's Pond in Amherst is a place that I like to stop in at when traveling through the area. I also make it a point to come in the winter just so that I can see the waterfall get frozen over. The only critique about this place is that at the end of UMass' school year the place tends to be packed and at times people leave their trash everywhere. Besides that this place is nice and relaxing.

We were pleased to see an assortment of picnic benches, trees that hovered beyond us, and play areas for children. The lake itself was beautiful too. There was a walk path which had scenery all around. The primary aspect of this park which I really loved was that the benches, playgrounds, trash disposals, etc despite being present, were placed in a strategic way so the ambience and "feel" of the nature within the park wasn't really altered with. It allows visitors to experience the peace and quiet while enjoying meals, swing sets, etc. Everything was tidy and truly looked well maintained.

There are between a half dozen and dozen grills, horse shoes, volleyball. Not sure how the bathrooms are I have always avoided. In the winter the bike path is really nice that goes around the dam area. Swimming area is probably the worst part about this location. This also makes for a good place to go sleddig in the winter but you need to know where to go. Volleyball court was installed in the flood planes and is always wet. Ranger that works here is a dick, very confrontation.
