I will never recommend Chapman Fence to anyone. Since contacting them in early January/2015, I have…read morebeen faced with rude interactions from Billy and Kelli. Billy was never a pleasant person to deal with but I let his behavior slide. Chapman Fence was unable/unwilling to give me a date of installation, even after I paid the deposit and signed the contract. When I called Kelli to inquire of approximate time to wait for installation, I was not given an answer. I told Kelli that it wasn't a 'get it done ASAP thing', but the most important thing was that due to my varying schedule and profession of a professional dog trainer of 20 years, it was of UTMOST importance that we work together to set an actual date that worked for us all and that Chapman Fence, under no circumstances, was to arrive unannounced to my property to install fence as my training schedule keeps numerous client dogs on property. Kelli's response was, "Yeah, they'll call before they come". I learned on Friday, 1/30/15, that Chapman does not respect their client's schedules or necessary requests and don't even abide by their own contract which states "Owner must be present at the start of fence installation and assumes all responsibility for the location of the fence." As I was required to be gone at 8 am that morning due to a work emergency, I was shocked to look at my phone at 8:33 am to see numerous calls from Kelli and a text from her saying the fence guys were there and "would the big white dog in the back bite". Really? There's a 110 lb American Bulldog in the fenced in back yard and you are wanting to go back there and install a fence AND while the owner is not on property? That is Chapman Fence's business practice it turns out. I immediately called Kelli and told her to IMMEDIATELY get those guys off my property! I was not at home, I was at vet with my young rescue dog who was having a grand mal seizure and these trucks and guys show up, roam around my property while dogs are barking and let me tell you....my neighbors were thrilled at the unnecessary drama at 8 am :-/ Let me repeat, even after I made a direct request to Kelli, these guys showed up without permission and without warning. And to toss salt in a wound, the next day, Saturday (1/31), I sent a text to Kelli at 9 am saying I was available for fence building on 2/11 and 2/12 if that worked for them. I made no mention of previous day drama Chapman Fence caused. Deposit was paid and I moved forward. Reply text was "Diana Chapman Fence is no longer willing to install your fence. We are refunding your deposit by check that was mailed out yesterday (1/30). I have dealt with a lot of fencing companies over the years due to my work and Chapman Fence is the only one who has EVER caused me to write out a public review warning others. I'm off to find a new fence company!

After researching local fence contractors I hired Precision Fenceworks to build a 12 foot section…read moreof 8' tall fence with a gate for my garden to replace the one that had rotted. My policy in hiring anyone is to start reading the worst reviews first and then work my way up to the positive reviews. Precision Fenceworks didn't have negative reviews. Their average rating was 4.9 on Google and Yelp. Frank Guest came to survey my job. He gave me a fair estimate for a fence and told me I would be put in the schedule and it would take 8 weeks for his crew to come out. I chose a very high quality custom build fence. I watched his guys build my fence. Workmanship and the wood used is excellent. There is a glitch because the crew boss and I had a miscommunication on the issue of the gate opening into the brick pad inside the garden or opening out and therefore hiding the base of brick pad. I contacted Frank and he responded immediately. I am on the repair list and they will come back to rebuild that section of the gate. I am very pleased with this response. I chose an expensive fence/gate and they are gonna make it right. I do not mind waiting because the workmanship is excellent. I owned a hotel for 25 years and I supervised the maintenance and all renovation projects, of which there were many. When you hire someone for a project their integrity is part of the job and so far my experience with Precision Fenceworks supports that. I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks to get the repair done because I need to have the same crew. They work on a schedule. I wouldn't want someone to walk off my job without finishing it so I will wait my turn. I actually consider that organization to be a plus because this is a business and to do consistent quality work you have to be organized and thoughtful about how you treat your employees and your customers.
