Absolutely horrible they don't care about the pets they care about how many appointments they can get you to and care about the money. I've spend close to 2k this year on my pets. Nothing serious just checkups and fleas and spays. And now they said my dog Riley has to deal with her fleas for 45 days cause they are booked out! They have seen Riley multiple times but have to make sure they get paid again for nothing before they can charge me for more flea meds! They try their best to get everything out of you they can and don't care about what the pets have to go thru only the money I hope people wake up and boycott this place and stop paying for nothing stop making these people rich for nothing. If u want to pay a lot of money for nothing then come here, they will take good guesses on what's going on with your pets. We always have a pleasant visit at Docton. From the team at the front desk to the assistants and Doctors. Our last visit Tango was seen and cared for by Doctor Matt and his amazing assistant. I apologize but I cannot recall her name. But she was lovely and Tango warmed up to her right away. Dr. Matt was also amazing! He gave Tango he first time annual checkup, vacanations and blood work. Typically Tango is very comfortable at the clinic however he had a one time experience to trim his nails and he just didn't want any part of it. Dr. Matt said this can be common with a GSD. But the wonderful, kind and gentle doctor was able to warm right up to him and provided the care and thouough exam without fail. Thank you all so very much for all you do for our 111 lb. I recently switched my vet and started going to Docton Animal Clinic. I am glad I did. The staff is extremely nice and very professional. Our dog Marley has an extremely bad hip and had to have surgery. The veterinarian at this clinic took her time examining our Marley and then referred us to an amazing vet surgeon in Columbus. Marley was barely be able to walk prior surgery but made an amazing recovery thanks to the surgeon and later to the post surgery care at Docton's. ** update We are still patients and am happy to have found this place. read more

I've been going to this clinic for 40+ years. We love Dr Gayle. She is the best. The reason why I give this facility 2 stars is because it is nearly impossible to schedule an appointment. If you call, 6 months out. They want you to call first thing in the morning to "see" what's available. This is not conducive to my lifestyle as I work full time and have limited hours. To definitely know when I have an appointment is easier to take off work. I used to go there all the time and trusted them with my cats. Live Dr Gale and Dr Imperial but it has turned into a craphole since Dr Matt became the new owner. Several misdiagnoses, high prices, and the ONE and ONLY time i ever saw Dr Matt he had no clue. I ended up taking my cat to OSU he was in ICU for several days and got better. And Dr Matt was not even going to send his bloodwork off until the next morning. We ended up at urgent care on dryden road before the transfer to OSU. Can you say malpractice? He said oh its just a seizure no reason. What a complete and utter idiot. I will NEVER go back there ever to give that man one red cent of my money. read more

We are new to Xenia and were nervous about finding a really good vet in town. I cannot stress enough how wonderful of an experience we had there! Dr. Gale was so friendly to us and our cat, took time to listen to us and our worries; explained, very clearly, her concerns and her course of action to get our cat feeling better. They even had a waiting room just for cats so we didn't have to worry about loud or large animals making them more nervous. I'm so happy we went with Docton and everyone there was so nice and it's awesome that they have walk-in hours. We had a surprise when we got there, one of our other cats had snuck in the carrier with the one needing treatment and they were willing to let them both out and walk around the exam room. I can't speak highly enough about Docton. I had a stray cat that I've been feeding for 3 years-very unfriendly and one I couldn't pet. He became very ill and I was beside myself about how to get him help. My current vet was not very helpful and reluctant to schedule an appt for this cat. I was finally able to trap him- called my vet who couldn't accommodate an appt. I called Docton where I've never been and was told to come right in. The staff was so friendly- the vet was wonderful- was so kind and caring towards this feral cat- gave me options and was willing to do what I felt was the right plan. They made a very stressful situation better. I have decided I will switch to this vet as I really value their compassion and kindness towards all pets. read more

I hope you are doing your research before going to this clinic. If I had done that, I would still have a living cat. Convenia is a dangerous drug. Entire Facebook communities are dedicated to how it kills cats & dogs in a predictable and pitiful fashion a week to 10 days after injection. I was never warned of the risks by this vet and my cat died after exhibiting all of the well documented symptoms of adverse reaction to this drug 10 days later. I tried to discuss this with them and get their help to save my cat's life once I saw the tell-tale signs before he was gone but they deflected and denied, saying they had 'never heard of Convenia being dangerous.' I later learned that they had likewise killed my realtor's cat with Convenia. My cat went in with tooth trouble and Convenia is not even an antibiotic protocol indicated for tooth issues. While I was in the waiting area a second time, an old black man was being told his dog needed a 'flu shot.' The poor man was led to believe this was required, like a rabies vaccine. There are some very nice assistants who work there but they want to refer to you as the pet's 'parent.' Maybe some people like that. I think it's ridiculous. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place. read more

The best Veterinarian office I have ever entered. I decided to try them at the recommendation of an acquaintance after feeling less than satisfied with my previous vet. The reception staff were courteous & punctual. The lobby was clean, smelled good & had a separate area for cats. The veterinarian I saw was Dr. Gail & she has real love for animals. She not only addressed the issue I came in for but also completed a needle aspiration on suspicious moles one of which was cancerous. She took her time with my dog, assessing her entirely. Dr Gail scheduled surgery & removed 4 moles for 3/4 of the price the previous vet had quoted me to remove ONE. These people care about animals & they don't try to gouge you while they provide their care. I HIGHLY recommend them. I won't go anywhere else again. read more

I have been coming to Docton for more than 3 years. The vets are all kind and good with people too! In addition to regular visits with my two dogs for nail trims, I had to have my beloved Pekingese put down and everyone I dealt with was very compassionate. I had taken my two dogs to this clinic for years. I will not go back, due to a recent nightmarish interaction with one of the doctors. I know that vets have to deal with dog guardians who don't always take the best care of their dogs and often why they end up at the vet. This being said, we were treated as if we had caused this very sad condition of our otherwise healthy beloved 15 year old chihuahua. We knew that he had a congenital heart murmur. We didn't know that his heart was failing. Were not given this diagnosis at this clinic, though, as we immediately took him for a 2nd opinion. Not only did they misdiagnose, I know this can happen, but they recommended several blood transfusions and perhaps putting him down based on blood tests that only showed his red blood count way too low. One check! His blood count later improved. This was devastating alone without them sending a vet tech in to counsel us on the diet they are offering for our future dog after we put this little guy down. My heart is crushed writing this. I have waited several months to write this review so that I could be very clear minded and fair. I would never take a sick or senior dog here! He ended up getting better and thoughtful care down the road and later in a Dayton emergency vet. The woman that we saw at Docton was so harsh, quick to judge, overworked, bitter and uncaring in her approach that I would not return to this clinic until I knew that they no longer required her services. To be fair, the doctor who I am very unhappy with is not listed as a staff member on their actual website. However, I have seen her at this clinic in the past. read more

I unfortunately agree with the above reviewer in the care and professionalism of this clinic. This practice used to be the best thing several years ago. I'm not sure what has happened but I haven't been happy with the service. I have grown to be untrusting with the three newer doctors inparticular , who seem to lack compassion and be only after money. The professionalism and lack of education of the staff and rudeness of the reception is discouraging. It is sad that something so good has gone so far downhill. When our last lab was terminal he and the staff were nothing but supportive and gave me all of the options that were available and when the time came and we had to let our furbaby go they let us stay with her as long as we needed and answered all of our concerns. I know nothing about the clinic itself, but I want to highly recommend Dr. Christy Spinks there. While working at another clinic in another town, she took very good care of my dog Ryley and me until the time came to end her fight with cancer, and she also cared for my other dog Lili when she had skin problems. She listened to me and put my dogs at ease. Her knowledge base seems very modern and up-to-date. I trusted her medical opinions and she didn't immediately order expensive tests, but first used logic and observational skills to make her diagnosis. She offered me options for cost-effective home treatment when appropriate. She also advised me regarding trainers for my stubborn puppy, which I greatly appreciated. My hubby and I have been taking our dogs here for years. Recently we have been very unhappy. The staff is rude, judging and very condescending. Every time we bring a dog here they suggest to do the complete opposite of what any other vet would do. We had to consult a specialist to get a true answer on what should be done. Countless times they have screwed everything up, from surgeries to birth, to pricing and exploitation. I have never had so many problems with my dogs as I have after they have been to this clinic. Either they are purposely hurting my dogs or they truly have no idea what they are doing and should be sued for malpractice. I am sick of my animals dying after being seen by them. I would never take an animal here and I suggest you do the same, before you get charged for something they don't deliver or give. read more

I have taken my lab here since she was 8 weeks old. In the last 2 years, she has had all of her puppy visits, spay surgery, routine check-ups, ear infection treatment, and an emergency appointment for a severe case of kennel cough. I have seen almost every doctor on staff. They are ALL wonderful and I am extremely happy with this clinic and the team that cares for my dog. I feel that they present options and take time to walk me through and explain the best care plan for treatment and let me decide (ie: no steroid injections for ear infection). The walk-in appointments are fantastic-have had to use them twice for emergencies and knowing that they have that service creates peace of mind when something goes wrong. I recommend Docton to my friends with new puppies-it is truly a wonderful staff and practice. It's not the prettiest, most well-decorated place I've ever been to, but the staff and care are unbeatable. read more
