We have been taking our puppy (now young dog) to this clinic for about a year. We were impressed with how quickly they scheduled an appointment for an eye infection even though we were new customers. They've continued to be accommodating -- often providing same-day or next-day appointments as needs arise. The staff is friendly and professional, and they make our dog feel comfortable and welcome. They seem to love animals. In addition, the office staff members detail estimates for examinations and medications, so there are no surprises when the vet visit is done. Our primary vet, Dr. Wedding, is knowledgeable and thorough and is particularly adept at providing detailed information and answering questions. We've never felt rushed during an appointment, and we appreciate Dr. Wedding's willingness to listen, her expertise and her kindness and her ability to bond with our young pup. Dr. Steph has also provided excellent care when Dr. Wedding wasn't available, as has Beall. Overall, we've had a great experience with this office. read more

I went there for my second annual visit for my yellow tabby. I am on a very tight budget raising my Godsons and being a waiter. Yesterday I called since I saved money over the weekend to get my cat in. Emily told me how lucky for me it would be wellness Wednesday and no office visit charge. A savings of 92 dollars. I was glowing. Bragging about this place. . Gave my youngest Godson 20 dollars to eat with his girlfriend. Today I'm checking out and the girl charges me this amount and I excepted to pay for his medication. Now we are at 160 dollars. I said Emily told me no office charge. This girl said that's only if I got vaccines etc. I don't count. I replied you know I. Spent the money since I was told this yesterday, paying this will send my account into the red. I might as well been speaking Chinese or to Hellen Keller herself with the lack of empathy and indifference this young lady showed. I'm a waiter and don't work till tomorrow so tonight add midnight I will be charged a 37 dollar fee from my bank. If something else I recently paid hits the service fee will double. So now what was supposed to to be about 50 dollars will be in excess of 200 potentially. I'm definitely behind on the 92 dollars they charge. And the fee of 37. The inconsistency of this staff is causing me a financial landslide I get to deal with over the next few days. Unbelievable. Thanks for your support today. Excellent care! I've taken all of my pets here for over 25 years and the love and care they provide is the best. Sadly had to say goodbye to a couple of my pets there but they made the difficult experience as easy as possible. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful pet care place. read more

Although staff is friendly and professional, fees they charge are ridiculously expensive. Office Call..........$21.31 Why? This in addition to any services provided. Dog Nail Trim....$34.17 Most places are $12-$25 and what Google says you can expect to pay. Do not like being taken advantage of and will need to reevaluate my pet's needs and services. read more

Took my dog and cat for the past six months. The vets are nice but the constant administrative issues are a problem. Two examples are: they cancelled an appt last minute that they knew they could not fulfill about ten days out. It was a late Friday afternoon and we were traveling and needed a booster. They issued my dog's rabies record in my cat's name and argued with me when I called back. After multiple visits and corrections, my address on my paperwork is still wrong. It's disorganized and almost a comedy if it wasn't about your pets. read more

Terrible place. Been with them for a year and never going back. Way overcharged me for basically nothing and had no idea what was wrong with my dog. Alex-Bell Veterinary Clinic has been caring for my pets since 1985! I highly recommend their expertise. I have had 4 dogs and 4 cats over the years that have been treated for annual vaccines and exams, dental cleanings, surgeries as well as grooming and boarding. My animals have always been cared for in an expert manner. Dr Diehl and Dr Ciarmitaro are always very thorough and my pets have thrived under their watchful care. Currently our 20 year old cat and 7 year old dogs are being well taken care of. I would recommend this experienced, clean and caring place to anyone without hesitation. read more

Our two chihuahuas were boarded at this vet May 25 - May 30 2017. Prior to boarding, we were asked by office staff if we wanted the dogs to have an additional walk and were informed that there would not be an added fee for the service. At pickup, we were presented a bill that included service fees for the additional walk. When we questioned about the fee and explained that we were told there would not be a fee for this service, office staff indicated that they weren't sure why we were told otherwise. No effort was made to resolve the situation. Last year, this vet prescribed medicine (4 different scripts) to manage our eldest chihuahua's congestive heart failure. He must take the medicine every month. Without it, he gasps for breath and is very lethargic. When presented with the bill for the prescriptions, we were shocked at the amount but paid it to give him some comfort. Several months later we asked this vet if we could fill the prescriptions at an online pharmacy whose pricing was half as much or less than what this vet was charging. We were told by office staff that we could do this but we would be charged a "fee" to transfer the prescriptions. When we questioned office staff on the amount and purpose of the fee, we were told that it was $10 per prescription and that it was for the purpose of the doctor reviewing the scripts before approving them to be transferred. Shocked at this "fee", we contacted the online pharmacy and several other local vets to determine if this type of fee was typical. Those we spoke to indicated that this practice was unusual and that the only real purpose for such a fee is to discourage customers from switching to other providers. Our view was that this vet was holding our beloved pet's health hostage to make a few extra bucks, but we had little choice. If we wanted our poor dog to feel better, we would be saddled with transfer fees or marked-up prescription prices. When we reached out to this vet again, we asked if this was a "one time" fee or recurring, and office staff assured us that it was a one time fee. Hoping that we would finally be rid of this vet and its deceptive business practices, two months ago (April 2017) we paid the fees. After two months of smooth sailing, just yesterday (June 5th, 2017) we received a notification from our online pharmacy that this vet was not releasing the prescriptions. Shortly after, we received a call from this vet wherein office staff informed us that we were required to pay the fees yet again, before they would release the prescriptions. When we explained to them our conversations with office staff from two months prior, particularly pointing out that these fees were explained as "one time only," we were told that it had always been the policy to charge the fees every time the scripts were to be renewed. When we explained our perception of what the phrase "one time only" means, we were told that they were sorry but nothing could be done. Once again, our poor dog's health was being held hostage by this vet and its deceptive business practices. And once again we have paid the fees so that our dog may be a little happier in his final years. We are at whit's end. We can't trust anything that this vet is telling us but we've spent so much money here on exams and prescriptions and fees, it seems prohibitively expensive to switch to another vet. read more

I have read numerous reviews that are very negative. However, my experience has been nothing but great and professional. My in laws recommended Alex Bell Veterinary clinic when they took there older dog for a teeth cleaning and had a good experience. Dr. Diehl treated my 6 month old puppy who was sick. He was vomiting and having very bad nausea. After seeing 2 different vets without any help, Dr. Diehl was able to determine what the problem was without expensive X-rays, which both other vets advised. After a few days of a bland diet and a night stay at the vet our pup is better. I felt that the doctor really took his time with me and my dog to really determine the problem. I feel that he was very practical and reasonable in considering the care of my dog. I have only received the best care at this office and will continue to bring both my pets here! read more

I have known Dr. Diehl for 28 years, and he has taken superlative care of my pets over that time. He knows what to do, and has helped my cats live very long and healthy lives. I don't accept anything less than the best, and that's why I continue to have Dr. Diehl care for my pets. read more

DO NOT USE THIS VET IF YOU VALUE YOUR PET! I wish I could give these guys negative stars. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! We have been using Alex Bell Vet for years now and the service just gets worse and worse. Last December my dog developed a lump on her head. We took her to Dr. Diehl in July because the lump kept growing. He took X-Rays and said it's probably nothing and sent us packing. Now it's the end of October and he's telling us that my dog has a giant tumor on her head that is going into her eye and that we should have brought her in earlier. I am appalled by their LACK of service. Also, they held my dog overnight (and didn't call to tell me they were going to do so) and the next day I had to call them at 4pm to ask about her condition and they said, "Oh, she's ready to be picked up now." EXCUSE ME?! Talk about a lack of consideration. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
