My father also called multiple times and never got follow up. After completing a two-week master class in HVAC that I absolutely NEVER wanted to attend, I…read morethought I'd share what I learned and hopefully save my neighbors some serious time, money and frustration. First lesson: My American Home Shield warranty has been pretty much worthless. I was told by Myers Comfort Specialists that two of my older Trane units needed new evaporator coils and condensers and that they couldn't just add Freon to these older units. Quote: $5,500 + Freon + whatever AHS paid. That didn't sit right with me, so down the HVAC rabbit hole I went. Lowe's sells complete 4-ton HVAC systems for around $2,100-$2,700 and offers financing. But the company Lowe's sent for the "free" installation estimate, Comfort Dynamics, wouldn't install a unit purchased from Lowe's. They would only install a system they sold me for roughly $9,000-$12,000. I called six more HVAC companies. No one would install a Lowe's unit for less than about $3,600 + Freon, and no installation warranty. Then I found COOL BREEZE -- 205-444-3155. I called at 3 PM. Two technicians were at my house by 5:15 PM. They tested ALL SIX of my HVAC units and found ZERO leaks. They had the refrigerant needed for my older systems IN STOCK, added exactly what was needed, and gave me a 3-page detailed invoice with 48 photos showing refrigerant levels, model numbers, ages of every unit and exactly what they added. And they gave me a discount. Moral of my unwanted HVAC education: GET A SECOND OPINION before replacing an older HVAC system.
