Just the thought of bed bugs sends me into a mentally tortuous place. I've lived in NYC for many years and this is the 2nd time I've had a bed bug inspection. The first time was definitely not as professional or thorough as Doctor Sniffs was. I moved into a new apartment, it looked clean, walls were recently painted white and I honestly didn't even think about the possibility of bed bugs being there. Fast forward...1 month after moving in I started to get bites, I immediately thought "bed bugs!". So I called the management company and they denied any possibility of bed bugs. Then I went away on trip for a week and my bites subsided, which made me wonder if there are bed bugs. When I came back from the trip I could have sworn I saw a bed bug running near pillow. I did not act correctly, (calmly) and in my emotional state the bug I saw got away from me and I couldn't find it. She got out the test kit called Bed Bug Blue and it was positive for bed bug fecal matter. Then she asked me to slowly and gently take that artwork off of the wall and face the back towards her. She found a big adult bed bug RUNNING behind the painting. Then found more evidence behind the art and near the outlet. I felt like screaming and crying but could not have gotten through this without Goosey's and Diana's help. I was able to give this evidence to the management company. While I was in the midst of getting treated I found out from someone on my floor that the people who lived in my apartment before me were throwing everything out and carrying things out in bags. Diana and Goosey were so wonderful. I saw a bed bug in the morning and was panicking all morning until they came to my apartment and assured me it would be ok. Diana searched my apartment visually. She was incredibly thorough and looked at every nook and cranny in my apartment and furniture. She moved my mattress, box spring, all my furniture and made sure she didn't miss any spots at all. Then Goosey sniffed all the areas after the visual inspection. Diana was great at directing Goosey in where to search. In the end, Goosey noticed something in my work bag, which indicated that i brought the bug home from work and caught it soon because there were no other indications of an inspection. Diana took a picture of the bed bug I found and sent it to a bed bug entomologist to determine if it is a male of female bug. She advised me about how to prevent bringing in more bed bugs and treated my apartment. After the inspection, Diana sent me a detailed report of the inspection. I cannot express enough how helpful Goosey (the bed bug dog) and Diana were, they turned what started out as a living nightmare into a manageable situation. I know there is no "best part" to this but now we have a solution to what was biting us and leaving horrible welts for the last month. Goosey, alerted near the head of our bed. Diana didn't find evidence until she took off a piece of artwork that was above the bed. There were 2 bed bugs sitting on the back of this art. Diana immediately got out some tape and caught them. We plan to show these to our building management company who refused to believe that we had bed bugs. Diana also did a thorough visual search of the mattress and box spring. The only evidence she could find was fecal matter underneath the box spring, she used some sort of test kit to confirm this. I am so glad that no bed bugs were found anywhere else within my apartment. I decided to treat every room anyway but just knowing that the dog didn't find any bed bugs hiding on the couch is such a relief. I had gotten many bug bites when sleeping at my mother's apt. and told her I couldn't stay there one more night - unless we had a professional come and check for the dreaded bed bug. Goosey and Diana were life savers in a moment of horror. This is the second time living in NYC I've dealt w having bed bugs. Upon spotting one in my bedroom I scheduled Goosey to come w Diana. He was a great dog and alerted to all areas in the bed room where we had bed bugs. Additionally he alerted to the couch and Diana found a live bed bug. Goosey confirmed my worst fears but at least he made the problem seem manageable and to specific areas. If you are concerned you have bed bugs, use a dog it's much more full proof than looking yourself. We have been exterminated and taken all the helpful tips Diana suggested and are waiting the 30 day period before Goosey can come back to inspect again. Diana is simply THE BEST. She has been incredibly supportive to me during my bed bug fight. If you are dealing with these bugs are scared and feeling alone, you need Diana on your side. Diana was an absolute breeze to work with and during a time of such distress and so many unknowns, I felt like I was in the best of hands. I had Goosey and Diana come back to my apartment to make sure the bed bugs were gone, this is because I wasn't reacting to the bugs biting me so I could never be really sure that the pest control treatment killed them all. I was so paranoid thinking that I still had them, I was imagining them hiding and me not seeing any evidence. I do not think I would have been able to sleep if I didn't get an all clear from Goosey. Goosey is so cute, she sniffed all over including the area where she found evidence the last time. This time she did not find any bed bugs and now it's been a few months since my final inspection and I am so happy that I spent the money for the peace of mind. I highly recommend Dr Sniffs. I am an extremely anxious person and a neat freak. Out of all the people in the world I would never ever think it was possible for me to have bed bugs. I wanted to check my apartment with a certified canine team for bed bugs because bed bugs were found in my workplace. I found Diana online and made an appointment for the the next day. Diana and Goosey arrived on time and thoroughly searched my whole apartment and Goosey didn't alert to anything.
