After the visit and follow-up, we were billed $602.49, and I still have not received a clear explanation for why a scheduled wellness visit was billed/processed in a way that left us with significant deductible charges instead of being covered by insurance. They do not let you call the billing department, so I first emailed billing about the issue on April 22. After no response, I followed up on May 1. After still not receiving an answer, I emailed again on May 12 just asking them to acknowledge they were receiving my emails. They finally responded on May 13, saying the issue had been sent to upper management and resubmitted to insurance. I had to follow up again on June 2 before receiving another brief response. At no point did I receive a clear itemized explanation or a direct answer to my main question: why was a pre-scheduled 4-year wellness visit not billed as a preventive wellness visit? At this point, I am out this money unless I pursue formal legal options to recover it. And now I need to find a new pediatrician as I would be stupid to work with this people again.

The first thing that impressed me was the separate waiting rooms - one for sick kids and one for well kids - genius! The front line staff has always been welcoming, courteous and helpful. The nurses are very kid-friendly and incredibly knowledgeable! I have called the nurse line so many times over the years and feel like I have always received professional and reliable counsel, wether it is to bring my kids in to be seen (we are almost always able to get in same day which is a HUGE plus!) or a recommendation to try an OTC medicine first (appreciate not dragging my kid in if it's not necessary!!), or even an assurance that I was managing a sickness appropriately. I even appreciate the billing staff who, because of inadequate insurance for a time and a very sick child, I got to know early on, always handled our situation with kindness and compassion! All of this is, IMHO, exceptional compared to our previous experiences with two other practices, but, of course, wouldn't even matter if the doctors weren't absolutely top-notch medical professionals! Their expertise and dedication, apparent to me in every interaction, is what continues to make me confident in recommending Northeast Pediatric, and also why they are getting all five stars! However, I recently had a negative experience with the front desk staff, and this review is focused on that aspect of my visit. The woman I spoke with was rude and not customer-service oriented. I had questions about my insurance since I recently changed plans, and she did not explain the information clearly. She spoke to me in a way that made me feel as though she were doing me a favor, and my questions were not answered properly. I arrived 15 minutes late for my appointment and informed the office in advance. I was told that I would still be seen. However, during my visit, she stated that there were issues with my insurance and that too much time had passed, so my appointment had to be canceled. This was frustrating, especially since on several occasions in the past, I have waited up to 30 - 40 minutes to be seen. Later, I attempted to make another appointment and called at 4:50 PM, but I was told the office was already closed, even though the website states that the office closes at 5:00 PM. I wanted to share this experience because I have always valued the care provided by the doctors, and I hope this feedback can help improve the overall patient experience.

She put another woman on (office manager) who came on the phone and she had already decided she wasn't going to listen to me. I also have two biological children and no one ever refers to them as "biological children" repeatedly and gets stuck on that as a matter of process rather than listening to my needs. If you have to ask if you've experienced discrimination, it's usually the case. The office manager told me if I have to question whether a pediatric office can see my child as a human maybe it's not the place for me and I agree. I hung up and won't be bringing any of my kids there.
