After a phone call to my trusted mechanic, I figured out that my car had a faulty fuel pump and the car would need to be towed to a mechanic. No problem, I thought, I have AAA. Right? Wrong. After speaking with a manager, AAA said that they would not tow my car because I wasn't with the vehicle at the time it became "disabled". That's a bummer I thought, but oh well, I can find a tow company online. I quickly did a search on Yelp and Google and found telephone numbers of a few companies to call. I called the first company. Even with satisfactory reviews on Yelp, the gentleman I spoke with over the phone was rude and impatient plus he quoted me more than $100 for towing my car 8 miles (from Ocean Beach to my mechanic in Normal Heights). NO thanks i thought. I tried the next company. They refused to tow my car because I couldn't meet the driver to prove that I owned the car (even though I told them I could fax a copy of the title and my ID!) Finally, I found M & M Towing. I called and after a short converation I learned that I was speaking with the owner of the company. I explained my situation and he agreed to pick up my vehicle in 1 hour, even though I was still in Vermont. He said he would charge me $50 and even said I could pay by check when I get back to San Diego in a week. I told him that wouldn't be necesary because my roommate could pay cash up front. He was extremely friendly over the phone, and explained that he had only been in business for about a year. At first, this made me a bit nervous, but he explaied that he had previously worked as a driver for another tow company, and that his new company was fully insured should anything happen. That sounded safe enough, I thought. About an hour and a half later, I called my roommate and my mechanic in San Diego, both of whom confirmed that my car had been picked up and dropped off safely and in a timely manner. What a relief, I thought. I would recommend M & M Towing to anyone in San Diego, especially those who appreciate and want to support locally-owned small businesses. Just an FYI, the owner has an accent so the phone conversation might be a bit challenging.

I had some fairly extensive damage to the left rear of my car. The people at Carter Collision were very polite and helpful, and they even got the job done ahead of schedule. They told me it would take two weeks, but they finished it in a little over a week. The repair was great except that my left rear blinker didn't work when I got the car back. I took the car in a few days later and they fixed it for me in about 5 minutes. I don't use body shops much, but their prices seemed in line with most other places. I had to have my rear left bumper replaced and the frame was slightly disfigured under the bumper. Also, the whole taillight probably had to be replaced. The repair was slightly under 2k in sum.

I pulled into the closest auto place I could find to find out that it was a body shop. They referred me to Central Automotive and said they would be able to take care of me. I got out of my car at Central Automotive and the guy working there just blankly stared at me. I told him what just happened and still no response. I said, "Uh, am I in the right spot?" He finally said yes and that they would take a look at it. He had his co-worker take it for a spin around the block and sure enough, it was still smoking. They looked under the hood and the said the transmission fluid cap (or something like that) was loose. He also mentioned that my tires were bad. They put my car on the lift to take a look at it and said they would call me when they had done a diagnosis. He called me back to let me know that I had a couple oil leaks that he could repair. His quote was $651.18 if he didn't have to take the engine out. If he did have to take the engine out, it would be $1,331.18, but he wouldn't know if he had to take it out until he started working on it... ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME???? I went back there to pick up my car and told him my bf was going to take a look at it. He never attempted to show me what was wrong on my car. I ended up taking my car to a different place to get a quote and it was THREE TIMES LOWER than the $651 quote. The new place also told me it was not imperative that I get it fixed right away. I have been driving my car for 2 days since it started smoking (and I haven't gotten it repaired yet) and it hasn't started smoking since they tightened the cap. I'm guessing that the loose cap caused the smoke and nothing more had to be done. I am a female that does not know too much about cars, but I know when someone is trying to rip me off and take advantage of me. I will NEVER go back here. Once, I wanted the brake pads changed and the mechanic said you have 50 percent left, you really do not need it. When I was in the market for a used car, I took it there to see if I should buy it.
