The 1.5 T-bone we ordered medium & though it was flavorful, some parts were med rare, some med well & also medium. The house cab was smooth & the appetizer we ordered were the beef tamales & though kinda small, we thought the masa to meat ratio was good. The chili sauce served with them had a nice smoky flavor. I celebrated my 33rd birthday here with family. I ordered the spinach dip, salad, ribeye, and mac n cheese. Everything was fresh and made to order. The spinach dip had a few additives I didn't like very much. The ribeye lacked flavor but was tender especially for a well done steak. I didn't have any issues with the salad. This was my first time going to Doe's we had to put down a $100 deposit for a group of 12 which turned out to be a party of 14. We were seated up a few steps near the bar but had to be moved because one of our friends was in a wheelchair and there was no way to get them up there. In My Opinion the Restaurant isn't too Accessible for Wheelchair's or Handicapped Persons. The waitress and Staff were Very Nice and Friendly. We were there Saturday night, January 17th, 2026. Sadly it was a little disappointing. Normally we love Doe's but the steaks were tough and way over salted, and lacking their normal flavor. They were not up to par...chilli wasn't served the same either, no jalapeños pepper or cheese. The only thing spot on was the tamales. Our party was of five, and not one could say it was what is normal for Doe's. Wish we had taken our party to the Warehouse for the evening! Server staff were great, only wish the steaks were worth the visit. Don't get me wrong, we normally love the place, but this trip was not near as delicious as our past experiences there. We will be back in hopes of a better experience next time. read more

Doe's is awesome. I travel to Monroe for work about once every month or so. Doe's is the only place I eat dinner when I am in town. Here's why. Located in a repurposed old building, the ambiance is perfect for a steakhouse. The restaurant is located down a small flight of stairs which is very unique. I grew up below sea level so entering a restauraunt by walking down some stairs from street level is very intriguing. That intrigue continues as you walk inside. I have no idea how long it has been in this building, but it appears to have been there for 100 years. Sure, the ambiance is cool as hell, but that is not what keeps me coming back. The steak is damn good. In particular, the 31 ounce bone in strip is one of the best steaks I have ever had in a restaurant. It is always cooked perfectly and filled with beefy flavor that strip steaks are known for. I would go here for the steaks alone but there is something else I must mention. The green beans are the best, that's right, the best, in the entire universe. I can only imagine they soak the beans in butter and crack cocaine prior to cooking. They are addictive. This high praise is coming from a dude who does not like vegetables. Maybe they cook them in beef fat or something. But they are amazing. Doe's uses Open Table for reservations but won't take a reservation for a party of less than two. If you are a solo diner like I am most of the time in Monroe, just sit at the bar. They even have Eagle rare. Pro Tip - They occasionally run a special on the strip I mentioned. For $ 21.95 (normally $31.95) you get the steak, a salad, and some baller ass green beans. Get yourself to Doe's. If you see me at the bar, I will be the dude on my iPad eating a strip and green beans. read more

We arrived for the first time by recommendations from town locals. We were not disappointed! No reservation and were told we would have to wait about 45 mins for two which was fine. We were called almost immediately in to a table. Both the greeter and our server were very nice and helpful! Michael, our server, made suggestions and we were pleased. We shared a LARGE ribeye that came with two sides and two salads. ($47ish) THE STEAK WAS AMAZING! So juicy and tender and flavorful! THE AU GRATIN POTATOES WERE AMAZING! Those are a must! Salads were ok, not much on them. We were so full and passed up dessert this time even though they all sounded amazing. A sweet couple beside us secretly ordered a caramel drizzled cheesecake for us to go because they said we had to try it because it was their favorite and so uniquely good. Well it was SO GOOD!!! If you are in Monroe or close by, this is the place to be!! We stopped by for an early dinner. Not knowing they didn't open until 4:00, the nice gentleman seated us early. ( How many places do that?!!!) Maura was our outstanding waitress. She was so attentive and friendly! Very nice music playing in the background, we were able to talk easily! So nice!! What a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday and Doe's definitely made it a fantastically steak-alicious dinner! After hearing so many good things about Doe's, we were finally fortunate enough to dine here on a Saturday night around 8pm without reservations since the restaurant wasn't too busy. (I had called ahead earlier in the evening and was reassured there would not be a long wait.) The restaurant is located in Washington Plaza and has a large parking lot. We were seated and drink/food orders were taken promptly by our friendly waitress. There is a full bar, offering a good selection of wines, specialty cocktails, and craft beers. Everyone dines here for one reason: STEAK!!! We ordered the tamales and chili appetizer and the 2 lb bone-in ribeye comes with 2 sides and 2 salads (2 fully loaded baked potatoes, 2 slices of garlic bread, 2 Caesar salads). Another Yelper mentioned skipping appetizers and heading straight for the steak, which I would recommend. The tamales were average (I've had plenty of homemade tamales back in Houston throughout the years) and the chili was hearty, with plenty of spices. Being wrapped in paper rather than traditional corn husks, the tamales were a little on the dry side and a bit messy to eat. The Caesar salads were average as well. Behold, the star of the meal was the 2 lb bone-in ribeye, cooked to a medium perfection. Oozing with flavor, the ribeye was well-seasoned, moist, and tender. I was pleased with my steak selection and there was so much food leftover! Although you'll be paying a pretty penny, Doe's has the best steaks in town!!! Doe's Eat Place - Monroe 040122 A party of three, we arrived at 6pm on a Friday night. House did not seem full but we were told there was a two hour wait for a table. We asked if we could sit at the bar which they said was fine. Our waitress was Jess (mentioned very favorably in other Yelp reviews) and she made us feel welcomed. She took our drink order (tea and waters with lemon) and an order of three tamales (no chili) for an appetizer. While the girls perused the menu, we enjoyed the great tamales (the sauce MAKES the tamale). My wife wanted a small strip loin and my daughter wanted a small filet mignon. So, I suggested we order a 40 ounce (2 1/2 pounds, a 3 pounder is also available) porterhouse cooked rare (40 ounces is thick enough to increase the probability of a perfectly cooked, rare steak) and I would cut their desired steaks at the table. Our entree came with buttered Texas toast, two side salads and two sides (we went with the very good mac n' cheese and a loaded baked potato). Jess suggested a delightful Cabernet to go with our steak. When our steak arrived (very quickly) it proved to be a beautiful Porterhouse with a full double the size of the filet required to be a Porterhouse versus a T-bone (3 plus inches versus the 1.5 inch minimum width required for the filet). The meat almost certainly was prime grade based on the marbling of the strip and was almost perfectly cooked to rare (warm center). Given that the filet and the strip are on opposite sides of the T-bone, cooking the different cuts, with their slight differences in thickness, width, aging affect, etc. is a test of a professional. In this case, the sides were cooked very well with a difference primarily in the depth of the sear on the top and bottom of the steak. Given that we received the steak before we could finish our appetizer, the steak was probably finished a little too quickly. Otherwise, our entree was throughly delightful. We finished off our meal with an excellent bread pudding with ice cream. We paid our check and were on the way back to our hotel before 7:30pm. This Doe's is my third Doe's experience starting with the as-yet-unsurpassed one in Greenville where I grew up. This Monroe, LA, Doe's is close. Looking forward to returning. read more
