    Steak and Potatoes Au Gratin

One of the best steaks I've had anywhere, not just here in town. They do the crust like no other! Love the cocktails and tamales we got as well!

Was looking for a place to eat and this establishment was recommended. The building was beautiful and it had a historic vibe to it. The staff were friendly and the bar tenders were nice. I ordered a ribeye steak and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. The steak was delicious but it was well done and tough. That was my only gripe. I should have sent it back but I was hungry and it tasted delicious.

I had a 2.50 lb Porterhouse Steak Medium Well with Hand Cut Fries that was cold, the Mac & Cheese was okay, and a Caesar Salad

This was my first time going to Doe's we had to put down a $100 deposit for a group of 12 which turned out to be a party of 14. We were seated up a few steps near the bar but had to be moved because one of our friends was in a wheelchair and there was no way to get them up there. In My Opinion the Restaurant isn't too Accessible for Wheelchair's or Handicapped Persons. The waitress and Staff were Very Nice and Friendly. Overall Everyone had a Nice Time the Food was Good and the staff were very good in waiting our table.

Doe's is awesome. I travel to Monroe for work about once every month or so. Doe's is the only place I eat dinner when I am in town. Here's why. Located in a repurposed old building, the ambiance is perfect for a steakhouse. The restaurant is located down a small flight of stairs which is very unique. I grew up below sea level so entering a restauraunt by walking down some stairs from street level is very intriguing. That intrigue continues as you walk inside. I have no idea how long it has been in this building, but it appears to have been there for 100 years. Sure, the ambiance is cool as hell, but that is not what keeps me coming back. The steak is damn good. In particular, the 31 ounce bone in strip is one of the best steaks I have ever had in a restaurant. It is always cooked perfectly and filled with beefy flavor that strip steaks are known for. I would go here for the steaks alone but there is something else I must mention. The green beans are the best, that's right, the best, in the entire universe. I can only imagine they soak the beans in butter and crack cocaine prior to cooking. They are addictive. This high praise is coming from a dude who does not like vegetables. Maybe they cook them in beef fat or something. But they are amazing. Doe's uses Open Table for reservations but won't take a reservation for a party of less than two. If you are a solo diner like I am most of the time in Monroe, just sit at the bar. They even have Eagle rare. Pro Tip - They occasionally run a special on the strip I mentioned. For $ 21.95 (normally $31.95) you get the steak, a salad, and some baller ass green beans. Get yourself to Doe's. If you see me at the bar, I will be the dude on my iPad eating a strip and green beans.

We drive from FL straight thru to Doe's because this is an amazing steak house. The hubby and I usually split the 2.5# porter house. The green beans and au gratin potatoes are amazing. We usually sit at the bar and get top notch service. Beautiful rustic atmosphere. Reservations are recommended- unless you're ok sitting at the bar.

Steak was REALLY UNDERCOOKED. Very good piece of meat. The Caesar salad, spinach and artichoke dip, loaded baked potato, and French fries were really good!

We arrived for the first time by recommendations from town locals. We were not disappointed! No reservation and were told we would have to wait about 45 mins for two which was fine. We were called almost immediately in to a table. Both the greeter and our server were very nice and helpful! Michael, our server, made suggestions and we were pleased. We shared a LARGE ribeye that came with two sides and two salads. ($47ish) THE STEAK WAS AMAZING! So juicy and tender and flavorful! THE AU GRATIN POTATOES WERE AMAZING! Those are a must! Salads were ok, not much on them. We were so full and passed up dessert this time even though they all sounded amazing. A sweet couple beside us secretly ordered a caramel drizzled cheesecake for us to go because they said we had to try it because it was their favorite and so uniquely good. Well it was SO GOOD!!! First time in Monroe from Oklahoma and we were very impressed with the food here and the people of the town! So nice!

New York strip/T-bone, Amaretto bread pudding, broiled shrimp was amazing with garlic bread for dipping into Cajun sauce!!

Birthday dinner was excellent, great service! Everything was delicious and plenty of it. Amaretto bread pudding was the icing on the evening...

It is a truly magnificent venue Cotton and it was understandably bustling with a very lively, chic Saturday crowd. The interior design is absolutely exquisite. I was deeply impressed by the sophisticated decor and the stunning murals that grace the space. It had been quite some time since my last visit, and stepping back inside reminded me exactly why this place is an absolute standout. I was escorted to a wonderfully private table, which allowed for a perfectly serene dining experience despite how busy they were. The service was entirely impeccable from start to finish. I began the afternoon by speaking with my attentive waiter and ordering a classic Bloody Mary, which was mixed to absolute perfection. For my selection from the menu, I chose the Deviled Farm Eggs, and they were a total culinary triumph deeply satisfying and beautifully presented. Between the vibrant atmosphere, the flawless service, and the exceptional flavors, the experience deserved full marks. I am thoroughly delighted and will certainly not wait so long to return next time!

So seasoned, beautiful meaty fish, mmm. The service was wonderful and the sweet tea was delicious. I will always come here if I'm in town!

The first time we dined here was in 2017, maybe, during which time the server slung our children's food across the table while setting it down-- french fries can roll off a plate with gusto! It was when the server placed the food back on the plate for the kids to eat as if we didn't all see what had just happened that put us off to coming back here. Fast forward to June 2026, it's a Saturday evening and the place my husband and I wanted to go was packed. We decided to give The Fat Pelican another try. When we walked in, there were only three tables occupied. As we stood there waiting for any signs of life from someone employed by this place, we could feel the stares from a particular table, as if trying to warn us to leave while we still could. But hindsight is always 20/20. A sweaty man emerged from the kitchen and told us we could have a seat wherever we liked. As we looked over the menu, I noted the shrimp plates all indicated (imported), which is pretty odd, being close enough to the gulf, and because our booth was right next to a poster celebrating some Louisiana Shrimp festival. I ordered unsweetened tea, which was more watery than tea, and patiently requested a soda instead, which he forgot about. One of the original 3 tables energetically waived sweaty man down, asking for their check so they could leave. Another quickly followed suit. The third table may have been playing mahjong-- they were clearly content in being out and visiting their friends. When it was our turn for what may have finally been the undivided attention of the server, we ordered. My husband ordered a steak. "We're out of steak"........ I ordered while he reconsidered the menu, really wanting to just abort the whole mission. There is a $1.50 up-charge for the loaded baked potato, which would have not been a big deal, but my husband's "loaded baked potato" was dry. We didn't bother to hunt the sweaty man down to ask for more butter, because we were both pretty frustrated. Because we were looking forward to a place that included dessert with their meal, we absolutely ordered the chocolate fudge cake. Look-- no shade on Duncan Hines or their brownies, but that is clearly what we each paid $8.99 for. You could literally taste the Duncan Hines, which was topped with ice cream and some confusing blue berries. It was a relief to pay out and leave, especially since the indie hits playlist had started its second loop. If you're still reading and wondering.. no one else came in to dine while we were there. There won't be a third time.

As if they were sitting under a heat lamp or forgotten in the oven. Flavor of the crab was good, though I think I would have rather had a majority of the cheese on the bottom, mixing with the juices from the mushroom and crab instead of heavily coating the top like a crispy crust. Entrees: SHRIMP RAHKEE. Saw so many good reviews for this. I was underwhelmed and disappointed. The whole thing lacked flavor. I had to shake a generous amount of salt on top and it was still lacking flavor. Shrimp were large and juicy, they just needed more flavor. Sauce was thin, could have been thicker and more complex. All of it was just bland. I ordered this over pasta which was cooked perfectly al dente. For my sides, I got the STUFFED POTATO and ASPARAGUS. Stuffed potato was nothing to write home about-- it also tasted as if it was sitting under a heat lamp or left in the oven a bit too long; flavor wasn't bad, though.. Asparagus was asparagus. Would have preferred a nice crusty bread like a French Bread over the Texas Toast. Not terrible, but not great. My teenager ate up my shrimp. My teenager ordeeed the SHRIMP SALAD. He said "it is what it is." Nothing super special but he didn't really have any complaints. My husband ordered the PORK CHOPS with ASPARAGUS and STEAMED VEGGIES. He really Enjoyed the pork chops and shared a bite with me, which was delicious-- cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. His steamed veggies were dry and asparagus was asparagus. My youngest ordered a KIDS CHEESEBURGER. Unfortunately, much like many places serving a kids cheeseburger-- it was pretty basic. My youngest had a few bites and wasn't interested in finishing it. This is served with chips. I should mention that all of the entrees looked visually tasty and we really wanted to like them. Maybe we were just there on an off night. Our server and everyone working there was very nice and attentive. The owner gave us a hearty smile and good bye. Service itself earned half the rating for me. View of the water was really nice, though I probably won't be back if I find myself in Monroe again.
