Our Senior citizens lunch bunch always enjoys eating here. The lunch menu is reasonably priced, food is delicious and we get great service.

We were told that they were "booked" and could only seat us outside. But there were lots of empty tables inside. So we got seated outside in the sun on a hot afternoon. One of our members in the party was 88 years old and he had to sit in a high seat outside in the heat. The food was average. Only good thing was our waitress. She was amazing! read more

Waterfront grill is a must visit in Monroe. It is picturesque. It's sits on a body of water and you can see boats pass. We even saw a team practicing water skiing. There are inside and outside options. We sat inside but we were able to see the water and the turtles swimming in the water too. We started with the crab cake and it was seasoned to the perfection but the start of the show was the remulaude sauce that accompanied it. The server said the lady that makes the crab cake has been doing so since before he was born. Thank you for your service I ordered the blackened red fish with asparagus and a stuffed potato. My colleague ordered the pork chops with stuffed potato and asparagus. The asparagus was some of the best I have had at a restaurant. Seasoned down ok and NOT salty seasoned. The stuffed potato was ok We ordered deserts. I had the brownie and she had the bourbon pecan pie. The brownie with ice cream was just ok. After all that good food I wanted to be wow'd. She enjoyed the bourbon pecan pie and it was thick too. I had a Mexican mule that was perfect. If I ever have to go for work again, I'm definitely eating there. read more

Nothing fried and a cool casual vibe. That is how I would describe the Waterfront Grill. Located on the bayou in Monroe, I ended up here with a large group of co-workers. We arrived around 12:30 and it was a packed house. Since there were ten of us we had to wait around 15 minutes and split into two groups but that worked out well. It is always so hard to try and talk to everyone at a table of ten. The menu is quite large and I was unsure what to pick. I knew I was going to have a large dinner so I decided a chef salad was a good idea. Little did I know the level of meat on the salad would be what most places use for lettuce. My salad was blackened shrimp and chicken and it was delicious. I think it was around $20 but it was a lot of food. The bowl wasn't giant but it was packed with meat. The building itself appears to have been here a very long time. There is a view of the bayou in the back half of the restaurant so I would recommend sitting there. I will be adding this to my list of places to eat when I am in town. I recommend you do too. read more

I love eating at The Waterfront Grill that overlooks the bayou. If we're lucky the university's water ski team is practicing. So cool!! I started off with a salad with the remoulade dressing which is my favorite. The salad could have been fresher and crispier. I shared the pork chop dinner with my daughter which was delicious. This was my first experience at Waterfront so I wasn't sure what to expect, however I was impressed. We had a table that overlooked beautiful Bayou Desiard and there were people on their boat out on the water, which was fun to watch. I started with a cup of gumbo. I thought it was good. It had plenty of flavor and the perfect spice level. I didn't have to add hot sauce, I was very impressed. For my main meal I chose the "catfish desiard" as my main course. It's a pretty big catfish filet topped with parmesan cheese and served on top of mushrooms and shrimp with a side salad and a stuffed potato (twice baked potato). The fish was fresh and had great taste, the stuffed potato was DELICIOUS... the salad was lackluster but the rest made up for it. Our server was lovely and bubbly. Everyone was. I didn't speak to not one person that worked there that wasn't warm and friendly. Great job Waterfront!! Will definitely return. read more

Everything about this place was awesome! Got seated right away, view of the river is beautiful, lemon drop martini was just the right amount of sweet and tart. Try the crab cakes. A fun, warm and inviting atmosphere with an extensive menu featuring grilled specialties and more. We came in last Saturday evening around 7pm expecting a wait because the parking lot was full - we were immediately seated by the friendly host, who was very accommodating of our pet dog. A large reason in coming here was seeing multiple endorsements for how dog-friendly Waterfront Grill is, and they were. Our server (didn't catch a name, but he said his girlfriend was a dog groomer!) was super friendly, attentive, and made a lot of clutch recommendations, including the pork chop that my father proclaimed was "the best he'd ever tasted." I had the grilled catfish, which was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. We'll definitely be returning the next time we're in the area. read more

So disappointed! Service was great but the food was so distasteful, the stuffed mushrooms and catfish almandine tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, were over cooked and burned and tasted bitter. For a $30 entree you hope for much better, would not go back. read more

I haven't been here for a while but I came in during the early afternoon for a salad that I ordered on the phone. I waited as numerous people walked around until one person finally acknowledged that I was standing there. They called someone from the back who seemed pretty irritated that she was called out while making my salad and made a comment about me arriving during shift change. I apologized. I definitely don't want to upset whomever is making my food! That didn't appear to make her less irritated. Every dish we ordered, BBQ shrimp, steak and stuffed potatoes, bananas fosters, were really good. The service was great. The wait staff are students from the university. They were polite and attentive. The decor is rustic and the view of the bayou was nice as we recently moved to Louisiana. About 14 of us had a family get together here Saturday night. We had a reservation and was seated once all of the party arrived. Service was very good. The restaurant decor is typical southern seafood. Food was good. I had the barbecue shrimp and the pepper jack spinach dip. If you like hotter than hell lol than the spicy barbecue shrimp is right up your alley. The flavor is good and I like good heat but it was over the top spicy even for me. Loved the spinach dip. Most of my family had the porkchops. They had a nice char and good flavor but were a tad dry. My wife had the boiled shrimp and they were very good. Stopped in today for lunch. Promptly seated on outside deck (at our request) and our waiter, Parker, was there immediately to take our drink orders. Had them to us quickly and took our food order. Salad was brought out first then our entree's. I had Grilled Catfish Poboy and wife had Waterfront Shrimp. Both were really good. I would definitely go back here again. My husband & I, along with our two dogs stopped over in Monroe on our way to Tennessee. The on- line menu of this place looked promising plus the fact they allowed dogs in the outside seating area. I liked the idea that we would have a view over water. The good things I have to say about this restaurant is that the water view was great and we had we had the sweetest, most attentive waitress who even brought out water for our dogs. The food was a giant disappointment We started off with an appetizer- Oysters Weemo. They seemed like canned oysters swimming in a pool of seasoned butter & water. It was served with store bought French bread that disintegrated when dip in the "broth." I then had the Catfish Desiard. Ugh! It's one of those dishes you walk away wishing you hadn't done that! I didn't even finish it. My stuffed potato was dense & hard to swallow. My husband had the Shrimp Rakhee. It was good. We got the Jane's White Chocolate Bread Pudding to go & had that later. It was also good, but we've definitely had better. Bottom line - not the worst place we've eaten, but also nothing to get excited about. It was all definitely overpriced for the lack quality we were expecting. read more

In regards to Emma H.'s Response, upset? No disappointed is the word I would use. I'm glad you guys have been in business for 27 years. But that doesn't give you the right to make excuses for the last 27 years of service. Look back at your response and it consists of excuses for everything that was pointed out instead of accountability. This is a sign of bad management and a lack of care about what the public thinks. Instead of excuses, make improvements in each of these areas. As far as "Have I been to other restaurants and get back to us". I have, here and in neighboring Shreveport and Bossier. Here locally, Trapps has great services, a great menu, and great prices. And as many times as I have been there, I would say they would make an excuse for bad service or wrong orders but I can't. Because this has never happened at Trapps. And as much as I frequent them, they have had ample opportunity to mess something up. Just a couple of days ago I was at Drago's. Again, top-notch service and food. As top-end as that restaurant is here and in New Orleans, their prices and services are still way better than Waterfront for what you get. That is one issue with local restaurants, they all see what the other is doing and mimic each other instead of sticking out of the crowd and being known for doing so. Now I know you must have been upset when you wrote your response and that's ok. With that being said, I invite you to reach out to these places to see if maybe you can help improve these areas of management, services, and overall quality.
